Au natural has to do with all natural pine arrangements! Get your mind out of the gutter!!! With many working from home right now, or not working period, many of us have thrown ourselves into our homes and become homebodies. And we all have different environments in which we live, so because of that, or we aren't sure of our decorating talents, when it comes to Christmas we all have different ideas. Some of us also have space issues with being in apartments or such. Some don't do trees. This post was inspired by Sixpense, who said he doesn't do a tree, but likes the idea of greens. So last night I ventured into the woods to collect some pines and other treasure. Several pine arrangements can add a lot to a home for a festive touch if you pass on a tree. And those little fairy light are perfect to place inside the arrangement if you wish since they are very light weight. Last night I collected a few branches of each. I really need to not take pictures at night....ugh.
Douglas fir
White pine
Norway spruce
Frasier fir
Holly
Arrow wood bush berries.
I really like whole vases of these in the winter after the holidays. Nice and simple.
Once the pines are collected, I snip as much off the branches that will be under the water line so the water doesn't get mucky. I generally have to fill the vase every other day, as pine DRINKS! I then just stick the various pines in the vase with no rhyme or reason...I like an organic feel to it. This was the finished arrangement...
I also added a little cardinal for shit and giggles. I also had enough for two smaller vases.
But for those of you who are incorrigible, and wanted some au natural.....
Happy Hump Day...and happy decorating!
CHEEKS! lovely arrangements; the cardinal completes the pine boughs. I like white pine; so soft the needles. and pine smells SO GOOD!
ReplyDeleteThe first couple days it indeed smells wonderful...just like winter.
DeleteWe are lucky to live where we do because we get all kinds of Christmas-y stuff on the lawns, from pine cones, to pine branches to holly bushes.
ReplyDeleteWe don't see a lot of hot buns in the yard though; too cold!
You should have seen my mother's yard. She had TONS of pinecones.
DeleteStory of your life, really - wandering into the undergrowth, looking for wood. Jx
ReplyDeletePS Bloody moths got to your underwear, I see.
Be glad I didn't turn around and wave at you.
DeleteAre you trying to tell us you wore that out into the forest on a cold winter's night?
ReplyDeleteWell, doesn't everyone?
DeleteI love going au naturel, you know that! We've got tons of pines right here in the neighborhood. Damn things. Between dropping the cones and jerking off every spring, they make a mess of my pool, dammit! But, they do smell nice. My fav is the smaller one with the holly leaves.
ReplyDeleteThough flesh-tone ornament sure adds a lot of atmosphere.
I get candles from a wholesaler in Hershey, and there Pine and Balsam Pine smell like the real thing....they smell soooooo good.
DeleteOMG so cool!
ReplyDeleteYou're so creative! I am going to have to go hunt for pine and holly around here. I think those look fantastic! Maybe this weekend, it it's not too rainy.
I'm sure I could find a little bird somewhere to add to the party. I don't have your assets, though.
Happy hump day!!
XOXO
You get the supplies, Ill bring the assets.
DeleteI like everything i see!!!!! Can you just come live with me for a year?
ReplyDeleteThose six mile daily runs are sure doing you some good (and me, too - more, please). Thank you for offering something so edible for the holidays (does it qualify as vegetarian?). You certainly know your limbs and appendages. Such a talented young man. You gots SKILLZ, baby. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what Ill do when it gets too cold. I went today...and it was cold.
DeleteI figured these buns would be less fattening then fruitcake.
Nicely artistic arrangements; I have yew in the garden (looks a bit like the Douglas fir but has red berries; it is not found in the US - the leaves are poisonous) and ivy flowers (turn into black berries) also look good in a winter bouquet. The holly trees are currently being stripped of their berries this week by Fieldfares, wintering from northern Europe. My yew was seeded from the tree in the churchyard - for some reason yews were commonly planted in churchyards and have been known to live up to 2,000 years.
ReplyDeleteIn most cases, the yew tree pre-dates the church. Like the Xmas tree, they were revered by the "pagan" religions. The Christians deliberately built their churches on the sites of older centres of worship. Jx
DeleteI just bet that yew would be pretty in a winter arrangement Helen, as well as those ivy flowers. I love things like this in the winter in the house. I was lucky to find any holly with berries also...the birds here too have a field day with them.
DeleteAnd the Jon....he is a wealth of info!
What exactly are you doing with that milk jug? she asked in horror.
ReplyDeleteAh, well, I was hum, thinking fo having a milk bath dear.
DeleteGreat, I glasses just steamed up!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHell, henny, I could even do this...if I knew where to get some pine in the getto.
I've tried to comment on your last 3 posts. The comments disappeared.
ReplyDeleteHere in brief,
1. Greenery fab.
2. Bassey also fab.
3. You are also very fab. You are better off without those idiots in your life. My old gran used to say " You can't be everyone's cup of tea!"
Xxxx
I love your grnadad's line!!!!!
DeleteI have certain blogs too that eat my comments too Christina and several others I know are having issues with leaving comments on others blogs, or can't even access the blog. It's enough to drive one crazy. But your always ere in thought dear!!!!!
I love the pine and holly branches! Natural decor is so nice this time of year.
ReplyDeleteOne year Jen I made a whole huge vases of pines instead of a tree and added a few balls to it. It was so pretty and simple, yet was very cheerful to see.
DeleteThe arrangement of greens is beautiful. What a great idea. I might give that a try since we don't do a tree anymore (damn cats... that we adore). And thanks for the final photo. The pressure is off me!
ReplyDeleteWatch the holly!!!! We know your track record of cuts and pricks. On second thoughts you even better but already cut pines dear. You might snip a finger off!
DeleteNow that is some crime, I could take a bite out of!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete😂😂😂😂
DeleteFyi...I have a long tongue. And that was is calling for it.
DeleteOh, what a good idea to make a small space more festive.
ReplyDeleteI like the pine bouquets, too!
I heard you enjoy morning sugar plums dear.

ReplyDeleteWell I could come and help you around the house but would anything get done?
DeleteI should do you idea of the pine all around since I won't be having any friends in this year.
ReplyDeleteAnd that ass baby!!!! That looks thicker then my morning oatmeal was!
Such an extraordinaire derriere!
ReplyDeleteI was feely cheeky today!
DeleteWell at least today I didn't spray any coffee!!!! I got all the way through and right into the closing picture, MISTRESS!!!!!! Your going to give me palpitations one day. I too love pine and holly in the house around this time and all through winter. That spray is lovely and I adore the added touch of the little bird. Since the kids won't be here this year, I actually put up my little tree for the first time in years!!! William didn't mind. I think he's letting me do what I want. I sent you pictures for your next happy moments.
ReplyDeleteYes I got them! I am getting quite a few more pictures again.
