HIGH DIVE

If there is one thing I still enjoy it's going to a club and dancing...but if one would have told me that I'd ever enjoy just bars or lounges, I'd thought you were nuts. But over the last 10 years I've enjoyed a good drinking bar, to hang and have a laid-back night with friends. The last three weeks found me with the Clan and other friends at what just might be a new haunt, the High Drive. It is kind of like a dive bar, but goes high on style and great libations. The place is the baby of the owners of another favorite place, The Millworks and Tom McGrath, who is a mixologist extraordinaire bartender. The place is housed in what was the Third Street Cafe, which had a bad reputation, shootings, and a seedy atmosphere and then remained vacant since 2021. The property goes back as early as the early 1900's which started out as a bar, then housed the Keystone Trust Company Bank, which later moved across the street. Later it housed a pharmacy and two other bars. The place has a rustic, chic, yet sexy vibe. The owners and contractor kept many of its original historic charms, yet brought back inspiration for the two-story bar, from a trip they took to Havana.

I loved that they keep many parts of the integrity of the historic vibe, as one can see layers of the years. Loved this wall of old match books for the previous places and others in the area.

DON'T get me started on the drinks and food enjoyed there already. Quite a creative sharable menu. Why do you think I keep going back! MM#1 Fan on his visit had a drink where there was a flaming cinnamon stick in it!!! And it tasted incredible! Some of our delish, mind-altering drinks and dishes.
On our first visit I went to order the Scorpion Bowl. The waiter told me that it serves 3-4 people. To which the Capital Street Duo relied; "Have you seen this bitch drink?"

Hmmmm. I don't know...but this place feels comfortable enough for a neighborhood, daily pop-in. Next thing you know, I'll be like Norm and have my own barstool like I have in Ptown. I may or may not be already smitten with one of the bartenders, so there's that.

STOP THE CAR!

Could this become a regular weekly post? HA! While eating breakfast this morning, I was shocked and outraged yet again when I heard the Dump was pardoning Todd and Julie Chrisley of huge bank fraud and tax evasion, and Paul Walczak a judge who swindled millions from people, and his own employees, who mind you, even admitted to it and plead guilty, are all getting pardons, and may be out of jail as early as this morning!!! Does the dump plan on just letting everyone out of jail?!?!?!? Well, at least if your rich and white. Funnily many he pardons are rich and white, or kiss his ass, like Paul Walczak's mother, who went to his million dollar a plate for slop fundraiser recently at Mar-a Lago, NOW all of a sudden, her son is magically pardoned? And Savannah Chrisley who campaigned for the dump. I hate to tell her, but her parents are guilty, will always be guilty, so her can hold off on the tears, and their fortune that was apparently built on fraud money.

One a side note I bet Chris Chrisley got more sex in prison then all the years with his wife. I'm still not buying he doesn't enjoy dick. The wife is a beard.

But the point is, the dump only seems to pardon white and rich? Why have not wrong accused people of color ever gotten a pardon yet?  I'm sure there is some. It's funny how many things his supporters are blind too. If Sean Combs gets found guilty, I fully expect him too to get a full pardon from the Dump. Yes, he's black.... but he also has all the qualities the GOP likes, lying, racketeering, rape, berating women, sex trafficking, drug fueled parties, and he kisses the Dump's ass.

So, if your white and rich break all the laws you want.

MEMORIAL DAY

While the Mistress labored over whether to hang my flags out this year in memory of family...friends and our beloved fallen veterans and current serving....with the current state and feel of the country I just couldn't do it. First time...in I think ever, I haven't. But after talking with several friends, and our dear Milleson, who are veterans, they themselves we're not even placing flags out. But much like others I spoke to it's been eerily quiet in the neighborhood.

But let's all take time to really remember and thank the fallen and the veterans who have protected our country and the freedoms that we've had this far. So thank you.

Buster Bolfig, who is with his other parent...wishes everyone a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend!

WEEKEND IN MAY

It's been a glorious weekend so far, if not a bit unseasonably cool for the Memorial Day weekend. We've had a light shower Friday, and a mix of sunny skies and some clouds since then. But a nice day in the garden Saturday...much done, and a sort out in the potting shed. The peonies came and went, and the roses have exploded with blooms and some new flowers are now in the spotlight. Otherwise, it's been dinner out Friday and Saturday, two happy hours and I have some of the Clan coming for drinks, grilled kabobs and veggies tomorrow. It might not be the typical temps for this holiday weekend, but I won't complain. A four-day weekend is a four-day weekend!!! Some floral and feathers of usual suspects.
Blue Boyd
Begonia and marigold are in.
Grosbeak
Hawthorn....I think? It's been in the garden for over 30 years.
Mountain Laurel bloomed like crazy this year. Or as I call it. peppermints.
Heliotrope
Robin
Clematis
Brown Throated Thrasher
I can't recall what this is.

These yellow roses smell heavenly!
I clipped the last of the peonies with a few lavender roses for the boudoir.
And sad to report, another causality this weekend. One of the baby robins, almost grown, flew into the huge living room windows. I didn't realize just how much bigger these windows were when installed. This is the fourth bird to fly into the windows, but the first one to not survive.  A proper sent off was in order, before burial, and a return to Mother Nature.

A little snippet of the far west garden. My herbs are doing well.

FROM THE CANDY SHOP

A few months ago, Twin Sauce popped up on my recommendations of things I might enjoy. And it was right! Since I love dancing, I enjoyed this gram and now follow these two adorably sexy twin brothers on You Tube. Paul and Luke Harwerth got my attention with their 70's retro porn look, fun fashion, and the dancing, especially when they are in shorts. Those boys got some darn sexy legs. They were born in the middle of nowhere Nebraska. They started dancing when they saw High School Musical and wanted to do that. Luke shared the vision with his brother, both now young professionals in downtown Kansas City. After watching videos for several years, the duo decided to take the leap and start creating their own channel of them dancing in their apartment, and just about anywhere since then, and became known as Twin Sauce. Since then, their channels on social media have exploded. No matter the mood I'm in, they can make me smile with their videos. I love seeing what and where they will dance and do next. And they don't care what people think of them or their questions about gay or straight. They are just two dudes and brothers who enjoying dancing. I get that.  I love when people can have fun like this.I wouldn't mind dancing between them!!! Those staches and legs!!!!!!!

And if they are looking for a hoe down...I'm it! If they keep staring at me with those eyes and looks, were going to have a problem.

SERENA

I have seen Serena Tea a few times. I first caught her in a show on one of my jaunts to Brooklyn to visit MM#1 Fan where he said I had to meet this queen. And Serena just absolutely floored me with zero warning. Stunning, yes. Heat. Yes. Talented. Yes! The drag name? Genuis. The show and energy stunned me, and her ensembles were all across the board in her sets. Let's discuss the creativity, the hair architecture and the drama she brings. If I was in the business of handing out grades for queens, she gets an A. Incredible show, and after, Serena said that the looks, she curated, are all created and designed by her, which really says something when you view her Instagram or see her shows. And Miss Thing ain't playing on tv shows. She is cementing herself in New York City with the old school and iconic drag queens of the city that have built their own career from the ground up, and those from the ball scene. For not doing drag for long, she's got her shit together but good. She is well on her way to an old school drag career in the city, that's for certain. I think that's why I enjoyed her. Even though the looks are modern, I got the feel and vibes for the clubbing days of the 90's. I'm here for that.
