FIRE AWAY....THE MISTRESS Q&A!!!!

Well, well, well, here we are all on this lovely hump day!!!! Alas, yesterday I found out that I have to go on a out of town trip for work, to lend my services to one of our other stores. So I'm off again...... see what happens when one is too creative??? I most likely won't be back till the weekend or next week, as I will visit the Price Charming in Boston whilst there. Originally,  I was saving this post, but this is the prefect time to do it while I'm out. A new reader of mine, the ever Yummy of the Day..... Mac did a post where he let readers ask him ANY questions, as a way to spark conversation, and a way to get to know him... I suspect as well. I am enjoying it as I have just started reading his blog, it's been fun getting to know more of him, so I thought I too would do it. With this bunch, I may regret that.....err, H
huh, or should I say , I worry about the questions. But I don't embarrass easily, and I really am a open book, and always ready to receive. Once the questions are in, and depending on how many there are, I will then either did a interview type post, or I'll do multiple posts. , so go ahead, think long and hard.... and fire your best shot lambchops! I'll be back in a couple of days. In the meantime , house boy 12, whatever his name is, is here for problems that arise....

TO RUSSIA, WITH LOVE

They say that nine tenths of a woman’s charm is illusion... and Courtney Act is living proof. She has the ability to bring women to their feet and men to their knees. But, she’s not like other girls...

Way back in 2003  hot Sydney boy Shane Jenek tried out for the first series of Australian Idol. Not quite making the cut he wasn’t discouraged, Shane bent the rules and his gender, returning the next day as Courtney Act. Courtney’s explosive, energetic performing style, coupled with her joyous personality, sent audiences wild in the first series of ‘Australian Idol’. With performances of songs like You Don’t Own Me, W.O.M.A.N. and You Shook Me All Night Long, the country was mesmerised and Australia had a new, slightly less conventional, sweetheart. Hot on the high heels of the TV series came the phenomenally successful sell-out Australian Idol Arena Tour . During all of the Idol excitement a record deal with Sony/BMG was struck which saw Courtney release ‘Rub Me Wrong’ , a film clip and a top 40 chart single produced by legendary LA-based writer/producer David Norland .

Love this shot of girl and boy Courtney!

Courtney is currently appearing at Will & Toby’s stunning new venue on Taylor Square Sydney. The unreal girl has re-invented herself once again and joined forces with the sensational Jeremy Brennan and King Casual to create a totally stunning night of entertainment that is a must see.

After wrapping up at Will & Toby’s, Courtney will be dipping her toe into the European waters to see how the temperature suits. Visiting London, Ibiza & Milan while she is there Courtney will be performing a couple of gigs and meeting the locals in anticipation of a more long term stay.

Courtney has exposed her talents as a writer for NW, TV Week, DNA Magazine and as a social reporter for Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. The readers of FHM magazine voted her as one of The World’s 100 Sexiest Women.  Out Magazine awarded her as one of the World’s Most Influential People. Courtney has also graced the catwalk during Mercedes Australian Fashion Week and made appearances on TV shows including Australia’s Next Top Model, GMA
with Bert, Mornings with Kerry Anne Kennerley, Burke’s Backyard, Cheese TV and Fat Pizza.

In between a vacuous social life and her hectic work schedule, Courtney acts as an ambassador for the AIDS Trust Of Australia and works several programs in the field of Youth Education. In her spare time Miss Act enjoys reading, Bikram yoga, saving the planet and cites Oprah Winfrey as her religious leader. All this and still does RuPual's Drag Race, and released her new single directed at Russia......To Russia, With Love!

MY PREDICTIONS FOR RUPAULS DRAG RACE 6

HEY EVERYBODY..... it's the Mistress obviously!!! Is everyone as excited as Norma and I about the new season of RuPaul's Drag Race starting?  If you missed my preview from December, I've re-tool the post for one last look and to include my predictions. It will be interesting to see how my views and opinions may change as the season goes on. I am using my knowledge of drag, queens that I have seen in person, and from you tube videos for the ones I didn't know. And A HUGE THANK YOU for all your comments on the previous post!!!! So lets switch gears from dick to drag!!!!!

Adore Delano

Adore was  on American Idol, and didn't win. But love that she gave Simon so much lip. I LOVE IT! She seems funny, pretty and seems to have a wide range of looks. I don't think people will like her at first, she will be the Willam of the season, we will grow to like her.  She is young and fresh, and is pretty new to drag. Puts a new spin on things. I think she will place top 5.

April Carrion

She is our Puerto Rico queen this season, and for once we get one WITHOUT a language barrier!!! This girl looks damn fierce, has good fashion sense and seems very lively. I think she will do well if she steps out of her zone, and can hold her own with some of the stiff competition this season.

Ben de la Crème

She is very good friends with last years winner Jinkx Monsoon. She is full of life, humor, and seems like a lot of fun, has some retro fashion sense, and bares a uncanny resemblance to Michelle Visage. There is a spice about her, and I think she will go far in Drag Race, but I don't know how she will do in the runway challenges, as her style is close to Jinkx.

Bianca del Rio

I FRICKIN LOVE THIS BITCH! She is funny, the biggest bitch ever in a good,  fun way, and has lashes for days!!!! Very old school drag, which is nice, but will Ru be looking for this, or something new? She also has killer looks, wigs and great make up technique. And when it comes to the Reading Challenge, she should slay the other bitches! She has already worked with Lady Bunny, Sherry Vine and Kelly Mantle,  and has a hilarious show in New York currently with Lady Bunny called Hot Mess.

Courtney Act

This is our queen from down under, and is already a HUGE HIT in Australia, on their version of American Idol. She is downright stunning, can sing for real so her lip synch's should be flawless. She is fishy as hell, and is the fourth honorary member of DWV, with Willam, Detox and Vicki Vox. Cute out of drag as well. She is already a front runner of the season and should place top three.

Darrien Lake

Darrien is Pandora Boxx's Drag Mother and has  worked with the very funny Kasha Davis. She is pretty well know here on the East coast and has a flawless look and fabulous wigs and is the season's big gal. She makes too many fat jokes, we get it, your fat. She need to step away from that and bring another humor. This will not be the year of the big girl.

Gia Gunn

Might be the real bitch of the season. She is painted well, very professional, and can dance like hell, throwing a wig around in a head twirl and keep it on!!! She is pretty good, but I don't think she is fierce enough against some other queens.

Josyln Fox

Seems pretty, and sweet, but when she opens her mouth she seems very bland. She annoys me already from a two minute video and does nothing for me. She seems like Tatianna from season two, and if she goes as far as she did,  then this is just bullshit. Just seems very dull and I do believe she will just blend in the wood grain with so many fierce queens this season. That said.... she is one hot boy!!!! He could call me if he wants.....

I think she just needs more time to perfect her style.

Kelly Mantle

Another very professional queen and already very accomplished. Kelly will be the Chad Michaels of this season as the senior queen. Kelly has many, many looks, great style, and will kill in the acting challenges. She can also take criticism and a good joke. I think she will do very well.

Laganja Estranja

This is Alyssa' Edward's drag daughter, and is another front runner. Everything seems about her! She is one of the most fierce dancers I have seen, but I don't like her personality, and I don't know if her performing will take her to the end, or how her runway will do, and she needs to take the manic energy down a notch. Plus she is very new to the drag world.

Magnolia Crawford

My least favorite queen. She is a little bit funny, but way other funnier queen this season, and what's with the odd nose contour???? Not a fan, and will be one of the first two gone. Just too bland.

Milk

If you don't know who Milk is you need to go You Tube that shit! She is part of the very funny campy Diary Queens troupe. She is FABULOUS and I'm sure will be the underdog of the season, and already a fan favorite. She is so cool, has humor, very camp, very glamour and has a comedic side, everything I look for in a drag queen. She will not do the fishy thing. I don't know if Ru will buy what's she selling. It breaks my heart, but I don't think she will win, but will do well. Another good looking guy out of drag!

Trinity K Bonnet

A FILLER QUEEN! if you ask me. She does nothing for me, a bore, dull and reminds me of Tyra Sanchez when she talks, which makes one sound like she doesn't want to be there. Major snooze. Plus anyone with the K for Kardashian is nuts!!!

Vivacious

A lot of people online are already in love with her. She is not new to the drag seen, and will bring a Paris is Burning feel to the show, as that was her thing!!! She seems like a big personality, with a gender bender style and seems cool. And don't expect a high glamour from her, as she borders a more Leigh Bowery feel. I think she could be the wild card this season and her lip syncs are un-believable!

SOOOOOO. Here is what I think will go down.... from first gone to the winner...

14- Magnolia Crawford, 13- Vivacious, 12-Joslyn Fox 11-Gia Gunn 10-April Carrion 9-Laganja Estranja 8-Darienne Lake 7-Trinity K Bonnet  6- Adore Delano 5-Kelly Mantle  4-Milk  3-Courtney Act 2-BenDeLa Crème Winner-Bianca Del Rio

What do you think?

THE PENIS- THE NEW BUSINESS CARD?

Boy, what a ugly morning, how can you see in all this light???

Last night was a fun night as I had dinner in New Hope with a bunch of the clan. It was the usual suspects. With a few new faces. I took the Professor with me and this was his first time meeting the clan. Everything went well till my one friend, like clock work said,  "Wanna see my cock"?  Yes. Alas,  I have a friend who likes to show people his goods upon meeting them, as if this was how they learned how to shake hands in his house, a business card of sorts.

We were all at the Raven after dinner and we were standing there, and he called friends over to huddle around before he asks. "Do you want to see my cock?" Everyone always rushes --  and let's be honest here... he really carries a nice piece but, at this point, a regular member of the clan , I'm tired of seeing it. He's like one of those annoying mothers who insist on posting photos of their adorable newborn baby. To makes matters worst he was interested in another of my friends, not to mention the Professor was caught off guard, although he knows my group can be a hand full.

But it's not just the pushy flashers of the world that are the problem,  For those of you out there on Grindr or Scruff, or hook up sites know that your goods are just as necessary of visual information as your face. It's sometimes the first thing people ask for. "Hey interested? you got pics" doesn't mean "I would like to see a photo you sitting proper on a armchair nibbling on a cucumber sandwich." It signifies that it's time to unzip and show what you are blessed with. This is likely a picture of your penis taken at the most flattering angle or state.

Having a picture of your penis on your phone is the closest thing that gay men get to having a membership card in the community. I'm no innocent, I have them too, but only my beaus or objects of flirtation get to see those. To me, a dick isn't a lead. Your penis isn't the first thing I want to know about you, unless I plan a one night stand,  or else I'm only ever going to think about you as the guy with the.. insert adjective here.. dick. You then become secondary to the organ, something I'm only going to be looking at maybe 30% of the time. Do you really want your penis to be the most relevant thing about you? And it amazes me when out, I have observed guys sharing cock pics in big groups. Something new?

A penis reveal is something you work toward.  A penis reveal is what happens after a long night of playing cat and mouse. A penis reveal is the thing that comes after unbearable tension and negotiation of sexual boundaries, whether that's after a first date, a third date or randomly meeting you while stinking  drunk in a bar. Not that I know anything about that!!!!! But no matter the path that's chosen, a little build-up is important. The cock is the cherry on the dessert, not a half-price appetizer from TGI Fridays!!!

Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem looking at cock pics, I love them as much as the next queen, and when were at the beach house, a pool party or camping, it's a matter of time till were all running around naked. But when I'm interested in someone I do like the build up. And isn't it nice to find out something about him instead and figure out who the man attached to the cock is?  Meanwhile my friend phones today and said he wouldn't be calling my friend the flasher back. Although the cock was nice he said, but that pretty much killed his chances. So, has our goods becoming a calling card?

SEVEN NEW GAY HOTSPOTS IN PHILLY

In a time when gay bars seem to be shuttering across the country because of the need for our own place to feel safe is disappearing, because we are more accepted now then before, Philadelphia and there gay bar scene is soaring, so much so that in the last couple months 7 new bars or lounges have opened with yet another in the summer. This is in addition to a already 7 to 8 gay establishments. I have never really minded a mixed bar myself, but it is nice to have a all gay to almost gay atmosphere though. It's already hard enough trying to figure out if a guy is gay or not these days. Could spell disaster by hitting on a guy you though was gay, so it is nice to still have all gay bars. I have and still enjoy going out, but must admit the "huge campy club" concept is just about gone, which I so loved. I know I am still transiting to the lounge set up and I love me a good lounge I tell you. So if anyone is planning a trip to Philly, here are some of the new chic hang outs to be seen.........

Rosewood comes from the owners of the queerest place in Philly, Woody’s. (It’s actually right-next door to the gay mainstay, with access back and forth.) For those looking for a more low-key vibe, Rosewood  offers old world artisan cocktails in a dimly lit space filled with leather and dark wood. What gay doesn’t love that? This is quickly becoming my favorite hang out when in town. Very friendly chill vibe.

If you a gay into beers, then Eulogy is the place for you. An historic three block walk from Independence Hall towards riverfront of Philadelphia. Eulogy spreads over two floors in a historic row-house style building. Jeweler Bailey, Banks and Biddle was founded here in 1832.The restaurant features Philadelphia's largest beer selection with an amazing menu of over 300 international and domestic craft brewed bottled beers and 21 draught beers are served every day. Guys in nice fitting jeans abound!

U-Bar is located in Center City’s Midtown Village neighborhood, Philadelphia’s Gayborhood, which stretches from 11th Street to Broad Street and from Pine Street to Chestnut Street. U Bar has already established itself as a popular spot for the LGBT crowd thanks to cheap drinks, very friendly staff and airy, floor-to-ceiling windows. A great neighborhood spot where you can kick back for a game, join them after work for happy hour, or meet up with friends. Some of Philly's best bartenders, slinging the best drinks, each with a signature cocktail! Be sure to try Danny's Sex Shot!

Nineteen is one of the places to be seen for sure! Survey the scene on the Avenue of the Arts on the spacious patio of this bar atop the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue. Toast the highest outdoor public drinking spot in the city, and I highly recommend the champagne cocktail and bites from the extensive raw bar. This is the place some of the wealthy A-List gay hang and hook up possibly, so  I hear.

Stir is a welcome addition to Philly's gay nightlife. The formerly dark and dirty space is now fresh, swanky and cozy without feeling cramped. The relatively underground location of this place (down an alley, with no visible sign until you get right up on the door) conjures up some seedy images, but just beyond the wardrobe, you're whisked into a magical fairyland (ahem) that is stylish without being all uppity. Once in hang with bartender Michael. He makes a real nice drink and is extremely talkative and fun to be around.

Stratus Lounge above the Hotel Monaco Is just what The Beautiful Gay people of Philadelphia have been waiting for.. this is going to be Philly's number one place to see beautiful people and to be seen. Cool vibe, Nice design. Awesome staff and great drinks. Be prepared to break open the wallet. Of all the new places this one is more mixed crowd than the others, reminds me a lot of Therapy in Hell's Kitchen. Dress code is a must.

Lit Ultra Bar is THE definition of an "Ultra Lounge".

The few times I've gone, I've gotten in for free.  Lit has specials most weekends where if you come before 12AM, it is free entry. The lines aren't that long when you go early, but it can definitely get long later on in the night, as this is an after hours spot. If you like to dance this is another option to Voyger. Inside looks nice. Great lighting, and a bar on the side and an island bar in the back of the club. Drinks are typical for a club and overpriced. Sound system is ridiculous, which is pretty cool until you stand about 20 feet away from the speakers and think to yourself "I might go deaf tonight." The music is straight up electro house, underground house, big room house.  If you love house music and the typical "EDM", this is the place for you. You know I love me some house music!

Boxers
Chelsea and Hell's Kitchen - is fixing to set up shop in Center City.
Owners Bob Fluet and Robert Hynds posted a liquor application placard on the former Ritz Camera store at 1330 Walnut St. - between Nuts to You and Millennium Art Gallery and just up the street from gayborhood fixture Woody's.
The entrepreneurs fell in love with Philly during stops to play in the city's gay softball leagues. Fluet told me that they plan to meet with community leaders later this month and would spell out their plans. They hope to open in late summer. The space was advertised with 2,040 square feet on the first floor and a 620-square-foot mezzanine.
The Boxers locations in New York have at least two levels, brick-oven pizza, beer on tap, plenty of TVs and pool tables, loads of double entendres, and shirtless, boxer-wearing bartenders

Later this year in the summer,  Boxers NYC, a gay sports bar with locations in Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen, is opening at the old Ritz Camera store on Walnut St. in the Gayborhood. (Funny side note: That’s right next to Nuts to You)

The entrepreneurs (Bob Fluet and Robert Hynds) chose to open the franchise in Philly after coming to play in the city’s gay softball leagues. There’s not a lot of information about the bar yet, except that the space is 2,040 square feet on the first floor, and there’s a 620-square-foot mezzanine, which will bean amazing stage for  drag queen shows — especially if it overlooks the main level. If the spot stays true to its original locations, it will include a brick pizza oven, beer on tap and a plethora of TVs and pool tables, not to mention the young  shirtless, boxer-wearing only bartenders that have began to be employed!!!!! I just hope they didn't pilfer any of my house boys!!!!

So if your planning a trip, and you like the gay establishments come ahead we have plenty!!!!

NOT JUST A PRETTY FACE.....

.......but he also plays with his instrument beautifully!!! I know.... I have seen it on several occasions! He just grabs his stunning instrument and just plays the hell out of it getting me all worked up, often giving me goosebumps and chills. You do know I'm talking about his violin right? Christopher Marchant is a member of the all gay quartet Well-Strung String Quartet. I have had the privilege to see them several times in P-Town and right here in Philadelphia area. But isn't Christopher just so darn handsome??? And a musical talent, what a lethal combination!!! Here is a recent magazine cover he did where he shed his clothes to reveal an oasis in this cold weather........

Who knew playing the strings could give one such a ripped body right???? Although I'm sure he does more than that! Anyone know where I put my vapors? I'm feeling a bit faint.......

And yet again, I'll be heading out to see them in May when they hit the Rrazz Room right here in New Hope again. Maybe their waiting for a invitation to the Casa du Borghese? I'll make sure they get one this time! Check out their music sometime and their site above, they are all quite talented and easy on the eyes! I and a reader, Anne Marie have been trying to get together, maybe I should drag her.

I hope she would behave.

GRANDE DAME.........

Just hold off on the throwing of rotten vegetables. This week, our Grande Dame is the fabulous Phi Phi O'Hara!!!!!

At first I didn't care for her on the Drag Race, but after some time just kind of fell in love with her.  Sorry..... I love a good bitch. She was such a nasty, snippy bitch that I found myself digging beneath the surface, trying to find the compassionate soul beneath the layers of makeup and wigs which revealed the genuine Phi Phi O’Hara . And it was definitely there.  We saw it in her defensiveness. We saw it in her absolute determination and drive.  We saw it when she spoke about her distant relationship with her father.  But most importantly, we saw it in her talent.  Phi Phi O’Hara has that natural talent for propelling the spotlight onto herself and being a fabulous drag queen. After having seen her in Philly and meeting her now, it's so a façade, she was cool as hell, and such a sweet heart. And she has really taken her style to a whole new level. And not many queens can pull off such diverse looks and wig colors, and then there is the serious fierce paint!!!!  And that’s probably what I like most about her… and the fact that beneath the glitter and glam making her the Mean Girl of RuPaul’s Drag Race, she really exudes an incredible amount of confidence. Phi Phi is originally from San Antonio, Texas, but then needed a bigger platform... so she can now be seen in and around Chicago where she resides, but tours the country too.  Did I mention he’s super adorable out of drag? He is looking good these days!
