MIDSOMMARING

Well my dears, I'm back and I say with honesty I could have stayed longer. I was to come home on Monday, and did indeed stay longer. But Ms Moorecock called yesterday, and told me since Barrack Obama was in Philadelphia, he and Michelle wanted to stop in to the Casa du Borghese... you never say no to a president...so I tucked the boy and twins in, packed and came home, with just enough time to freshen and slip my sun drench body into a light and flowing ensemble. They're a hell of a couple...though I do believe Michelle just may have blushed over some of my stories. But being lady like,  she listened, that's how she rolls people. ENOUGH....I can't tell you everything we discussed about last night. But I must say this trip was beyond what the doctor ordered. The weather was beyond gorgeous, sunny, blue skies and white clouds. Mid to high 80's most days. I didn't even need the air at night in the pop up camper I use on my friend's site, even all the windows were unzipped. I even passed out slept on the hammock one night. The Woods is doing a great job with the social distance guidelines too. Granted being on 161 acres helps. You can with ease go and not seeing anyone if you don't want.  There are much less people there during the week, but even when the weekend rolled around, it wasn't quite as many people as last time there. I actually feel pretty safe there. Just being in nature helps my soul greatly, as I HATE being indoors in the summer. Most the the time was eating, drinking, campfires and pool lounging, with other days finding me on trails taking hikes for 5-6 hours by myself, Chris or my friend Mame. My friend Chris took the above picture with his drone. It's a shot of the turnpike almost at the Leighton exit at Jim Thorpe. I will say Pennsylvania is one of the most beautiful states I've seen in the country....with so many different types of locales and landscapes...it's all here. Here are an array of snaps I took on various days of the camp and hikes.
The pool was great this time, and mask do have to be wore when walking and in the pool. The funny sign below!!! An olde to Ptown I believe.
Walk way to the pool.
Scenes from my hikes...
My better side in the fernery

I for some reason was in love with this next picture.

One of many inclines

The camp years ago gave a section of land to the perms and guest there to create a space for dear friends, partners, and pets who used to frequent the Woods, but have since passed on. Many create little shrines to them.

Created a much bigger rock sculpture this time .

Some of the entertaining street names and signs.
Sex Drive wraps a corner and turns into Naked Way.

My lovely campfire I built one night. You would have thought I was girl scout of something.
Bar-B-Q-ued legs!!!!!
One night the poor dears from the camp,  called me down to breath on the nightly bonfire they have on weekends to get it started. I huffed and puffed!!!!! Thank goodness I went light on the Aqua Net that night.

  6. I've always loved being amongst ferns...!

The Woods looks like my kind of place - I'd love to go one day, but I don't think Broom is capable of making across the Atlantic these days...
Your photos are wonderful, Maddie! Especially the one of sunbeams coming through the trees onto that stream/river. And I love that mossy old tree stump, and the crooked tree amongst all those straight ones (I can see why you love it so, too).
    What a wonderful getaway!

It is one of the most scenic and diverse with various scenes...big cities and hubs, quaint towns, Amish land, English countryside, mountains...its all there. 18. Mistress, Im no a outdoorsy person like the mountains, but can sure admit to it's beauty, which you captured so well here. It is really a beautiful place. I know how you feel about being outdoors though. We lived outside at the beach in the last month we have been gone. And we only managed to see four people. I sure hope you didn't get any poison in any of your special areas? The those bears are enough to make me want to never return!!!!

What a great post, you certainly capture the feeling of the place. Just happened upon your blog from another source. My husband and I had a fantastic July 4th weekend at The Woods! This is our third year coming back to camp and we're always excited to come back! Obviously things are different this year with the pandemic. But Management is doing an outstanding job of keeping us all safe. They're also working to make things feel as normal as possible. We can't wait already for next year.

  26. Oh man. Great nature pictures. Friends of mine from Hershey just went and said they had a very nice time. They think many don't even think to go camping, and it's perfect really, because your outdoors, and like you said, you don't need to see anyone if you don't want. Nature does a lot of good for the soul. We also think you for the nice naked shot!!

    1. It really is perfect. And your right...since many gays don't like camping it keeps numbers and crowds away. Many up there just take walks or stay on their own site which keeps the risk at hand. And yet you can still see people from a distance which is nice.

  27. I was only been once to the Woods. I love gay glamping, there isn't any comparison to other campgrounds I've been to. This place is unto a league of their own. You got some real nice pictures and glad to see you hang loose. Clothes are over rated in my opinion. Love the lake shots!
