BEACH SIZED BALLS

Here we go again....I've fought worst monsters.

I won't be drawing this out, but the Mistress along with my boss, and the whole visual structure of the company all the way up to the creative director,  who originally hired me, along with a number of other positions all across the company have been let go...3700 in total. Just about everyone I know in the company is gone. This is the last time I will work for the company. Especially after finding out after the lay offs,  that the CEO of Macy's Inc. Jeff Gennette gave himself and another 5 top brass millions of dollars in bonuses and stock.  Appalling and disgusting considering business is down,  and no stores are making plan. People just are not shopping for clothing. Not to be outdone, I made sure I got all my vacation time and other personal days, and my severance,  which the store manger was not going to give me the full amount,  since I had been laid off once before, but returned just by one day over the time frame to start everything from scratch,  but my HR manger had it changed since I returned over by one day. Oh.... I got the severance, after kindly mentioning the name of a certain other manger that left under the current store manger, for,  oh shall me say "harassing  behavior."  Monday I was called with my paperwork to come in and sign for my full 15 years of severance!!! I'm not to be trifled with after giving them my hard and creative work all these years.

Yesterday I already got a call to come back in other capacities, which is a slap in my face considering my work skills and talent.... which I gladly declined and I told them I will not be taken for granted, and refuse to work any longer with a company so a CEO can get himself and other top brass  million dollar bonus's. I have also already called my  financial guy to dump for my stock in that company, and hold it,   and then combine the money from my pension plan I also had, to reinvest into other stock that is making money.

But don't worry about me dears....I'm will be fine and will now look forward to my next new chapter whatever that will be.  Daddy Warbucks already wants me to move to Europe. But all I know, it will be a cold day in hell that I shop in any store Macy's Inc owns again.

Don't fuck with me Fellows.

  4. When I first started reading this, and saw Faye-as-Joan, I thought it was a joke, that you were pretending your blog is a Fortune 500 company with some 3700 people working in it. As I read further I saw that it's not and am really sorry this is happening to you. I myself 13 years ago was a victim of a layoff and am still pissed off about it because I feel they went after me for my seniority and the higher wage that came with it (I had been there 16 years.) But some good did come from it. I'm not going to go into an details as I don't want this comment to turn into a personal memoir, but in a strange, unexpected way it led me to, among other things, your blog. May some similar good come out of your ordeal.

  5. You go Girrrl! So glad you stood strong and demanded what you were entitled to, swinging them by the short hairs! *winks* I am sad that the Company CEO's did what most CEO's are just doing in Companies in Crisis, lining their own Pockets while it circles the drain. During my Banking Corporate Life the top Execs did the same thing in every Bank that went under or had a Corporate Merger or the RTC came in and sorted out, the corruption was vile and so predictable though. I did as you did... back then, getting what I was entitled to and screwing them over by accepting a Consultant gig that I grossly overcharged them for later when they were in Crisis and needed my expertise, revenge is Sweet my Dear and payback is a MF. *Smiles* Everything is going to Hell, but there are some lucrative Stock to invest in right now where you will surely do well. I know your next Chapter will be Fabulous.

    1. Thank you new friend!!!!!! I would have never made such a boardroom scene but I'll be damned they were going to cheat me out of all those years of service. And you should be lucky to have that background...that comes in handy I bet.

  6. Oh Maddie, I’m so sorry for you. 😢 these corporate fucks are horrible. Company isn’t doing well? Then cut costs, let people go! See how much money we saved? Give me a bonus!

Ever since Macy got rid of Chicago’s iconic Marshall Field’s name I’ve never liked the company. Now I have even more reasons not to go there.

Take time for yourself dear one. It may take time, but you’ll come out on top.

    1. Thank you Huntley. I had been in that Marshall Field's several times. It's just a shame Macy's is the one who buys these companies. I believe it will also be Bloomingdales faith too eventually. They seem to kill everything they touch.

  7. Congratulations for standing up for yourself. Move on, turn over a new leaf, write the next chapter. Retail, as we knew it is on its deathbed. New retail is still finding its way. Corporate raiders should go to jail.

  8. Sad to hear this. My heart to you. Glad you didn't let them get away with screwing you over. Assholes. Typical, too. You are bright and young and talented... you can write your own ticket. Take advantage of this time and chase a dream? As Mame tells us... Open a new window! Wishing you the very best - because you ARE the very best.

as for you, you could be a personal chef, or I know you do independent interior design projects. perhaps you could team with your friend the florist. gurl, you're smart and you have tons of talent. and not just in the boudoir.

  10. Holy shit, Maddie!
Those MoFos did it, huh? It was just like the 1% to fuck everybody up on their way out. Of course they gave themselves bonuses while letting the house burn down to the ground.
It's happening over and over in many businesses. I just heard from a friend who works for a big university they're cutting down on everything. They're even getting rid of tenured faculty.
So sorry it happened to you. But you are amazing and I know you'll land on your feet. It does not surprise me that they offered you something that's not up to your experience and talent, though. The nerve!
And sell all that stock. I hope all the ex-employees sell theirs. Let's see where they get their next fucking bonus.

    XOXO

    1. They laid off so many, if they eve did reopen with normal hours I don't know how they will ever have enough people to operate the stores. But your right, it's bad. It seems everyday I learn of yet another person or friend cut, furloughed or hours cut. Half the people I know are not working now.

  14. Darling Maddie,
You're better off. You may not feel this way right now, but you are. I was furloughed two weeks ago, and darling, I am living it up. I'm FREE! This has given me a chance to get back to basics, remember things I've always wanted to do but didn't have the time or energy to put into it. So I grabbed my manbag, walked over to the door, turned, and said, "I am Alexis Carrington, Colby, Dexter and I don't remember what follows, but a bientot, you mongrels!" and walked out the door. Waited a few seconds for effect, walked back in, put my badge on the table, and walked out again. I've had enough of corporate. It's time I took matters into my own hands. Clive agrees, darling. You are too good for them. Strike out on your own. It's time you gave the world a piece of your...well, you know what I mean. You go girl!

  18. That kind of shit happens all over the place in this city...lay-offs for the line workers and huge bonuses for the top brass. Happened in 2007 and it's happening again now. The CEO's and COO's are getting multi-million dollar bonuses and 5% raises. It's disgusting, greedy behavior. They are also the people who support the Orange Covidiot.

Glad you got what you had earned, though. Get that financial advisor to take great care with investments.... Hugs!

    1. I agree. Something is seriously wrong in this country. The sad part is is that macy's will end up destroying Bloomingdales like they did every other store they bought. I always thought Macy's was a dump.

I know you'll end up doing something else that will make you happy and awe us all. Meanwhile, I will scratch Macy's et al off my list when I'm in the States! 1. I was never a Macy's shopper. As someone said in a comment somewhere , I always thought it looked like a dump. I'd walk in the doors look around and say "WHAT a dump!!!"

I was always more a bloomies shopper. And Bendel's when they were in NY. My grandmother on my dad's side was a huge B Altmans shopper.

  30. I know you mentioned it in the comments on my blog. Now that you've spilled the tea, I've decided I won't be shopping at Macy's anymore. I can easily find the things I normally buy there elsewhere.

I'm confident someone of your impeccable talents will land on your feet somewhere. Like someone else mentioned in the comments, maybe you can do interior decorating? You definitely have an eye for it.
