If you're in Harrisburg living, then one knows that Riverfront Park makes for a great long run or walk on Front Street along the Susquehanna River. Along the way is great people watching, especially for men, parks, and many huge homes, mansions, and apartment buildings. One of which is the Govenor's Mansion. The Dame's floral shop was lucky enough to have been chosen this year to deck the halls for the main receiving room, just in time before the Candlelight House Tour. She knows that I'm only a call away when she's in a pinch, even though I'm no longer working there daily. The room has gotten great reviews we hear, and the Dame has even said they already expressed interest on having him back next year! Paper Moon is quickly becoming the "go to place" to use as the florist to use in the area. Unfortunately, the Gov and First Lady weren't present, so I couldn't wish them good luck and thank them for their services to PA. The First Lady said to do whatever we wanted to the room as far as decorating. We hear she was blown away. Yes, there are freeze dried white roses used in the trim.
Gorgeous, but then I expect no less ... and it gave me some tips for next Christmas at Casa Bob y Carlos
ReplyDeleteOh, aren't those pine bough and burlap-hatted gnomes just adorable! So creative! If you don't mind, may I repost your photo (with credit to you?)
ReplyDeleteHave at it Deb's. I knew that you would love that
DeletePat Lark syas,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Those gnomes are absolutely too cute.
Been to the mansion several times. What I'd really like is to get an invite to go upstairs to the residential floor.
ReplyDeleteWe saw some of those areas, but weren't allowed to take pictures up there. It's just as nice as you think. Although Governor Wolf and the First Lady didn't actually take up Residence at the mansion during his terms ...it was only used to host city and state events.
DeleteI'd love to live in a place like that. When do we move in?
ReplyDeleteWell we might be able to live there for a couple of weeks before the Shapiro Administration comes in. I highly doubt that he and his wife will be taking up residence there. As his kids are all in private schools in the Philadelphia area. Maybe we can just pay him some rent?
DeleteStunning. And the evergreen elves, too!
ReplyDeleteThe gnomes are to die for.
ReplyDeleteThat would be the simplest thing to make to Shirley. If you put three of them on your balcony for a Christmas competition you'd win for sure. Perhaps you could do them for a Halloween one.
DeleteThe decorations were lovely save that Rembrandt painting of Father Christmas....one of his more forgettable masterpieces imo.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea who did that room, or what the story of that portrait is. I know it belongs to the mansion and not the florist who did the room. I didn't care for it.

ReplyDeleteI see you’ve upgraded since you’ve moved 😎. I love what you’ve done with the little cottage.
I could easily live in that mansion, I'm very fond of Georgian Style.
DeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteIt's so cool when they have those huge rooms and they go all out with the holiday decor!!!
Love, love, love the gnomes!!
XOXO
Those gnomes were awesome. And would be so damn simple to make.
DeleteFreeze dried roses? I bet they're rather delicate, aren't they? I'm guessing children and pets are not allowed?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, fabulous flowers and foliage decorations, Maddie! Not that it would be anything else with your hand in.
Very delicate!
DeleteBeautiful decorations worthy of a governor's mansion. I imagine that's a very old house. Debra's gnomes are cute, too.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Would you believe the mansion is actually not that old. It was built in the early 60's and suffered through the Hurricane Agnes where water was up to the second floor. Since then, it had two full renovations.
DeleteVery beautiful
ReplyDeleteQuite classy.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Call me strange, but Harrisburg has one of the prettiest Govenor Mansions and the most opulent capital building of many states. We used to have good friends that live in the Italian Lake are of downtown Harrisburg, so we have been by the mansion several times. That room is stunning. If I ever get back up there, I'm so going to patronize your friend's shop.
ReplyDeleteIf you do let me know and I will tell the Dame roll out the red carpet
DeleteStunning! The Dame does incredible work. I haven't been to Harrisburg in ages!
ReplyDeletethis house looks so British/Colonial late 18th century / early 19th century.
