Les Baxter was a musician, arranger, and composer for many swing bands, and he developed his own style of easy listening music, known as exotica, in addition to having scored over 100 motion pictures, but it's some of his Christmas ditties I love, especially this one, one of my holiday favorites.
LOVE Les Baxter! Not this, however. Bah Humbug. Jx
ReplyDeleteOh, Yes!
ReplyDeleteExotica is soooo cool! I tune in this one online lounge radio station once in awhile when I'm in the mood, which is more often than not.
You can just see the mid-century furniture and the stilettos.
XOXO
I agree! Give me the old vintage tunes. At least I can understand what there saying. The holiday tunes of the 50-70's were the best I think. Artist these days go too far over with embellishing the song with notes and carrying it out. Just sing the damn song. This is a fun one!!!
ReplyDeleteThe song had me at the opening bells.
ReplyDeleteHave you any idea how often they play that song on the Muzak at Home Depot? Way, way too many times.
ReplyDeleteUh . . . er . . . I can't hear anything. I turned up the volume and still no music. I even went to youtube and no music--at least not with this song and artist. Have I developed Christmas song deafness from hearing Mariah so many times?
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Dammit, I'm sexually frustrated and now I'm musically frustrated, too.
DeleteJanie, usually people that have too much sex are the ones I can't hear. What with all the screaming and moaning so loud. So I'm told.
DeleteThat makes sense. No screaming and moaning in my house these days.
DeleteVery retro!
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing this on SXM the other day when I was flipping channels.
ReplyDeleteAdore the record label. As a child I was fascinated... and it continues to this day. I would simply stare at them and read them and watch as they spun around and around (not unlike certain former circuit boyz, am I right?) This song is a delight. Thanks for the vintage holiday vibe. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteTundra Bunny here... Such a sweet, innocent song! Kinda reminds me of Judy and the gang in Wizard Of Oz. My delicate bunny ears thank you for this listening pleasure!
