PETTICOAT JUNCTION

Quarantine Greetings from Petticoat Junction!!!!

As most of my out of town friends call this fair hamlet. While it is a quaint area, I neither wear petticoats, or do my laundry down by the creek on a rock with a tub. Although, I do have trains tracks on the other side of the woods. I took some time away off line, since it was so gorgeous out this weekend. It was a open all the windows, let the drapes blown in the wind, sit outside,  kind of weekend. All open air! It does the mind and soul good to be outdoors I think.  In fairness... I did see some online drag shows. I had my neighbor Brice in for a social distancing dinner of my stuffed peppers I made along with homemade bread...even sent him home with a loaf.  We hooted and hollored over watching Lady Bunny and Bianca go head to head. Good times! I also got some walking in. Why sit in, when were in doors all the time? Felt good too, also took a nice long walk about around ma' hood when I went to get fresh eggs......

Another barn turned into a house. This is a huge thing here.
The church and cemetery next to the Casa.
Another recently renovated home. The original houses dates to 1898.
A neighbor's gazebo.
Weekly take out from the Carversville Inn.
The old Lumbermill sits near the Chicken Coop Lady's property. I have always loved this place.
There will be a bar-b-q at Twelve Oaks tonight!!!!
Today, while walking the property here, Vixen made an appearance....and she gave me a good first glimpse of one of the new pups. I think she might have three, as I heard other ruslting in the foliage behind her... but not sure.
That was worth the whole walk alone today. She seemed very trusting. I don't know from year to year if she remembers me or not..but to get that close surprised me, even though this is a zoom in.

It was a good weekend. And needed.

      Guess what I watched today?...….

Cannonball Run! How bad is that?

    3. Oh Maddie, no! Your weenie has jumped its bun! Heh, we saw that movie when it first came out. Packed up the babies and went to a drive-in. Burt Reynolds was all the rage back then. That is the movie you're talking about, right? Or did they remake the thing for some godforsaken reason?

  8. You sure do live in some gorgeous country, Mads! I'd take walks too if I had all of that to look at, with the extra added bonus of a fox and pups.

  10. Mistress, a simply beautiful post for this Sunday! When we moved here I told William many times...let's buy in Bucks. While we like Wyncote it isn't no Bucks County. We come there for drives, and you can go and go and go, and always a cute place to stop for lunch or drinks. It's just so quaint over there. I am so glad to see Vixen is becoming more present again. Maybe you'll even get videos again?!? And Petticoat Junction?!?!?!?! One of the warmest feeling and good hearted shows in television history.

Oh, does this bring back fond memories of day tripping to New Hope, antiquing the back roads, taking in the old homes and estates, and countryside of Bucks County. You could get lost in those roads. Petticoat Junction?!?!?! I haven't heard anyone mention that in YEARS!

  12. Excellent pictures. You really capture the feel there. On my visit there I was in Philly. When on my third day you took me out to your neck of the woods, I was in shock. It was so old, charming and a world away form Philly, yet only about 45 minutes away. You really have the best of both worlds.

  13. Oh my goodness...Petticoat Junction?!?!?! These pictures sure made me night. My weary and sick body could use a week or two in your fair hamlet.

  16. I love this post.
    Your local architecture is stunning!
I'm a country girl at heart. Cities are not for me. I could live in any of the places you've shown us.

The vixen and her babe, how honoured you must feel. Perhaps she does remember you.

A lovely, sunny weekend does us a power of good and a nice gin and tonic whilst Sat in the garden, soaking up the warmth, well, its the best medicine.

    1. At one time, you couldn't get me out of the cities!!! But now, I have grown to really enjoy where Im at now. It's so calm and peaceful. And if I want the city, it's a quick half hour train ride. I can go visit, enjoy it and come back to the quiet.

  17. The good old Carversville Inn. I can remember playing with the quartet there twice. One would be really hard pressed to pick one season the prettiest there. And yes....this weekend was gorgeous! It felt good to get outside and enjoy the weather. Your line of "It was a open all the windows, let the drapes blown in the wind" kind of weekend for sure!!! I still have my windows open.

  19. Ah, thanks, I had the song playing in my head the entire time. I'm sure Vixen remembers you. Look how she said CHEESE! So many beautiful homes around you, Maddie Jo! I finished one of your sentences in my head and was surprised what that's not what you said: "Although, I do have trains tracks on the other side of ... my bed."

    4. Deedles, #1, and Maddie Jo:
You all made me smile today! And, Maddie Jo, your reply would have even made The Kid Brother smile. Thanks for that. So, now that we have your NEW drag name, we need to come up with a more appropriate last name. Borghese just doesn't sing with Maddie Jo. I've searched my memory for character names. Maddie Jo Bedlow (for Homer Bedloe)? Maddie Jo Pike (Orrin Pike)? Or maybe just a simple Maddie Jo Bradley to make the connection more clear? I have a feeling you'll have much better ideas (although I DO like Bedlow and Pike).

    5. Scoot, if it's going to be a new drag name it should be something like Maddie Jo Mauma. Not that I know anything about that kind of stuff.

  20. The architecture there is amazing. Thanks for sharing. You are very fortunate to live in such a quaint area.

We also had some beautiful weather this weekend the low 70s. Was able to dine alfresco last night before it turned chilly. The next few days are a different story: lows into the 30s with highs only in the mid-50s and more rain coming.

  21. When in years and years, I retire, I want to live in New Hope and have a house at the beach. Hey, I can dream.

  22. Wow that is a seriously beautiful area! I'm also really impressed that you recognized a church! Awww fox pup, sooo cute.

I saw your comment about wanting to be step mother to Anderson Cooper's son. Is that a wicked stepmother, like the Baroness wanted to be stepmother to the Von Trapp children? ;D

    This area is so lovely!
Love the idea of converting a barn into a house!
I’d love to have. Big backyard so I’d have a gazebo. Just add some drinks and candles, and voilà. Summer.

    XoXo
