LATE NIGHT...TRACIE SPENCER

How I loved me some Tracie Spencer!

Tracie is an American singer and song writer in the R&B music genre, who had a lead of hits in the late 80's into the early 90's, starting with a little ditty called This House, which I loved, but it was this song Make it Funky, that would make me learn some R&B moves and this became one of my first drag routines I'd do, along with a big butch lesbian  drag king riffing the male rap parts. Ahhhhh this song bring back some fun memories. And the first of the lyrics...some good advice in these new times huh?

And if ever This House was more relevant than now......

  1. Gurrrrrrrrrl!!!!! Now you know Tracie and Pebbles were my girls! I had forgotten all about this song. Take me back to the 80's and 90's any day. I would have paid to see you do Make it Funky baby.

  2. I like songs from the late 80's and early 90's because music back then was more fun, hot, and funky too! I'll have this song in my head all day now.

  5. 1990 - Technotronic, Black Box, The end of Jody Watley's peak reign, and Lisa Stanfield's sweet beginning. And Soul II Soul with their epic, Back to Life. This sound was everywhere and it brought feets to floor. Thanks for the trip in the wayback machine.

  10. I never heard of Tracie as I was old then!!!! But i liked both songs. She is very pretty. But This House actually got me teary eyed. Those beautiful lyrics. A most relevant and perfect song to sum up the times...and words to live by. I wonder if she knows how this song resonates today? I can't stop listening it. It's perfect.

  12. Never heard of her - she apparently never got higher than #65 in the UK charts - but as Uptonking quite rightly says, this was definitely "the sound" of the early 90s... Jx

  14. I loved both of these songs, but This House has a Profound message."This house is our house let's give back to the people" Wake up people. Funny how this song from the early 90's rings more than true now.
