Don't you just love the opening picture? Just a subtle hint to Mother Nature that I may want just a bit of snow soon. Not a lot, mind you, she can send the big stuff in January. But with our weather being so warm and mild, I doubt we will see much. It was a pleasant weekend, I stayed in Harrisburg to visit with my uncle and visit his one son who is here, as we were finalizing some memorial plans for my aunt. We we're also tickled that their home care specialist Yvette, will stay on to take care of things at the house for my uncle, and run him to his various shopping and appointment needs. She is like one of the family. He is doing amazingly well health wise, he himself will be 90 in April, and drives pretty good, but we don't want to risk him having an accident or one at home. We too will be visiting him often. Since all the kids from every corner will be coming in for the memorial, as well as grandchildren we plan on a dinner afterwards. Trying to find a dinning establishment with a private room has been challenging, but we did find one. One my aunt would love, local sourced food, and features local artists' work. My other cousin, the violaist will also be doing a solo Beethoven piece that she loved. But with talking to Dave on his blog today, where he mentioned several coworkers out with Covid, it reminded me that Covid is still out in full force and seems to be getting worst. We made a reservation for dinner with my uncle and cousin for Saturday, only to get a call back saying it had to be cancalled because several of the staff had COVID and couldn't open. I'm seeing this a lot, not to mention the bigger stores and department stores are so short staffed it isn't funny. I sure do miss shopping regularly, but have no desire to hit these bigger places. I have been to two and was shocked how empty goods looked. Another reason to shop small. I also got my card list done too. So, there was that. Stay safe out there kids!
The only xmas cards I receive are from the dentist and my money manager. Then again, I don't send any. I put a wreath n the door the day after Thanksgiving and it will come down the day after xmas. Easy peasy. Also, I, too miss running to the Mall and shopping and eating out on xmas eve. Instead of a Hard Candy Xmas, it will be a Crockpot Xmas.
ReplyDeleteIm also not opposed to just a Hard Cocked Christmas either.
DeleteYou boys are so bad. I love it.
DeleteI love this mood board! Those cards are a hoot! The Little Edie one is a crack up.
ReplyDeleteBut bite your tongue...no snow!!!! I have not been shopping much since the whole COVID broke out, but here and there only, and I find the local small shops, have had items and far better service to boot. I think your aunt's memorial sounds like it's coming along, and sounds fit like she'd like it.
The Fortum and Mason- loved. William used to order from them all the time. Great items...ugly shipping cost. Course we are across the pond.
there you go again, exposing yourself. didn't we see enough of your balls yesterday?
ReplyDeleteWe can NEVER see enough of your balls, Mistress!

Can you see my balls? No? NOW CAN YOU?
DeleteThis Omicron business is just getting silly now. On one hand, the South African scientists who discovered it are saying it is mild in comparison to Delta, the next our government is giving every type of hint that more restrictions are on the way... Sod it! I'm treble-jabbed (and flu-jabbed), wear a mask, wash/sanitise my hands to the point of cracking skin, keep my distance from the "great unwashed" (when did I not?!), and still wipe down all my shopping with disinfectant wipes. I'm definitely going to the office tomorrow as usual, and to our friend Sally's "Dynasty-themed" birthday bash on Saturday. Keep Calm and Carry On, I say! Jx
ReplyDeletePS Balls!
DeleteThat party sounds like a blast! And as Alexis said to Krystal once-"I just can't wait for the day when I see you walking out of this house carrying the same two cheap plastic suitcases that you walked in here with."
DeleteAlexis: "Nine months, are you pregnant?"
DeleteKrystle: "Yes."
Alexis: "Congratulations."
Krystle: "Thank you."
Alexis: "Not that it's all that special. I mean, even worms can procreate."
Jx
I hope covid doesn't end up interfering with the plans about your aunt's memorial service. Good that her home care worker will be staying on to assist your uncle. Bereavement is tough at any age, so I'm sure he'll be glad of your support, understanding and visits.
ReplyDeleteWell at least we have peace of mind that we are all sane in this family and vaccinated. But keeping our finger crossed that the dinning establishment stays well.
DeleteLove the balls, and the ornaments are nice, too!
ReplyDeleteWe just had our booster pricks last Thursday so we're good up in here.
I can't get my booster yet. I have a month to go yet.
DeleteVery nice, the cards too.
ReplyDeleteGREAT cards. Sorry about the Covid, but yes... very much still with us. I just had coffee with Mother and had to throw a hissy fit, seems one of her friends sat across the table from her sans mask with "a cold" and made Mother feel bad about wearing a mask. Fast forward... 8 days and Mother gets a call from a mutual friend of both - that friend with "a cold" has Covid! Well, Mother is now mad at moi for getting upset... but I am like - HELLO? Numbers here in MN are through the roof. We can afford to be careful, but we cannot afford to be careless! Stay safe, stay healthy. Suggest to the lumbersexual that the two of you hibernate for the holidays... just the two of you. Then... just keep inching that thermostat up a few degrees until he's down to his underwear. Trust me... it works. EVERY TIME! Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you one bit getting upset. You and your mother have a right to protect yourself. I have a friend who won't wear mask or get the vaccine. While we're not friends anymore, I don't understand some people...
DeleteAnd the Lumbersexual? So far a good meal and weed has worked every time.
We're getting snow in our mountains tomorrow night. I'm bundling up tomorrow for my work commute. There's a chance it might be below 40 degrees when I pull up to the parking lot.
ReplyDeleteCOVID is still out there. I strongly believe two of my coworkers are in quarantine, and as of a few hours ago everyone in California has to mask up in public places regardless of vaccine status starting on Wednesday until January 15th.
Please stay safe out there.
Once the holidays are over...Im backing into my shells again. Not that Im doing much now...but not worth it.
DeleteYes, balls to Covid! As Jon said, it's gone a bit mental in the UK.

I find I’m growing to love simple, unadorned Christmas balls.
ReplyDeleteMy xmas card list is very short this year. I think I still have some left from the Unicef cards I got.
ReplyDeleteAnd that car is rad. And those ornaments! That boy is lucky.
XOXO
I figured round shiny objects got your attention.
