It's been a nice weekend, and almost...almost had the feeling for a minute the world was back to normal. Loved the sun flooding into the bedroom when I got up. I got some spring flowers from the farmers market on Friday on my bi- weekly food shopping. Nothing like the smell of hyacinths, one of the ultimate smells of spring. I can smell them when I awake from the bed...it's heavenly. I noticed that all the crocus, snowdrops and grape hyacinths are blooming on the grounds now.
Two tell tale signs that spring is here to take hold, for me, are watching the birds, which ones have left and arrived. While I, this week, spotted my first Robins, the juncos are still here surprisingly. And they know the trends. It's to be in the 60's all this week, but the junco won't be fooled...for they truly know. The other sign, was yesterday, the ground keeps were here to do spring clean up, edge the gardens, and start tan barking. A bunch of friendly papi's.
In the summer when it's hot, and I'm home, I've been known to take out cool glasses of my iced tea for them. Right now, a nice breeze blows through the apartment, the bedroom drapes blowing half way across the room, like in a haunted house. Birds singing, I'm enjoying a Belgian cream pasty and coffee. Out of my new mug....
Compliments of yet another gift received this week from the lovely Duchess Deedles!!!! She is a smart lady, and I love her. Thank you Deedles! I have since named her my Right Hand...for when my world domination tour is needed. And Bouvier is also most pleased with the mug. Squirrels are not to be trifled with. I was also tickled to see Agnes Goldberg DeWoofs made an appearance on Fridays post. I was getting worried. For those that aren't aware she went missing. I knew something wasn't good. And sad to report her dear William passed of COVID, and she then herself got extremely ill off her second vaccination. She is now ready to start life anew. You have been in my thoughts Agnes!
Early this morning as light hit.... a mourning dove sleeping on the kitchen window sill.
Could a Sunday in a new spring be any better? A Tufted Titmouse calling...
A lovely post for Sunday! I agree with the smell of hyacinths. Nothing like it!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring!
LOVE the mug!!! So cute and TRUE! Deedles is a cool lady. And condolences to Agnes. I'm glad to hear she's on the mend. But that first picture with the sunbeams...lovely! You set the mood.
ReplyDeleteDUCHESS DEEDLES DOES IT AGAIN!
ReplyDeleteI like hyacinths, but outside only; the scent sets off my allergies.
finally went to the liquor store today. $170 spent on lovely booze.
snowdrops, crocus, and daffs up here.
agnes dear, my thoughts are with you; {{{{{HUGS}}}}}.
Lovely pictures and description. Im so happy that spring is 'springing', the sun beam and the flowers make me happy! Deedles is most generous. Fun mug!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures...I felt it this weekend and see some life in the garden. A warm spell is coming but your right...if certain birds are here, they know. Beautiful flowers Mistress. They certainly make a home happy.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear about Agnes, but my condolences to her on the lost of William. I enjoy their picture submission for your Happy posts.
Having fresh blooms in the home is a wonderful luxury. You set the scene very nice there today
ReplyDeleteThe dove on the window sill roosting is precious.
Your day looks and sounds like a good one too me. Love that first picture.
ReplyDeleteAnd that mug? Deeldes know you. Two prefect mugs!
Around here we watch for the forsythia to bloom.
ReplyDeleteLuckily I have a Master Gardener friend to keep
us out of trouble.
xoxo :-)
Around here, the bulbs welcome spring first...then the forsythia and flowering tree and bushes herald April and May. It will all happen so fast.
DeleteYeahhhh!!! We're am absolutely feeling it!! Love the bedroom shots.
ReplyDeleteCan just smell those hyacinths ....nice way to wake up.
What an idle, peaceful world you inhabit. Lovely. And the mourning dove on the window sill. Trying to stay warm? Love your elephant planter. Trunk up is good luck. But then when your trunk up dear... you always DO seem to get lucky, am I right? Kizzes.
ReplyDeletewhen is that trunk not up, would be a better question. why don't you come feed it.....
DeleteSo sorry to hear of Agnes’ love of her life passing. Such a tragedy. My thoughts are with her.
ReplyDeleteLike you, we’ve had some lovely weather. It’s nice to have the windows open and air out the house. You do have a flair for floral!
Ah bliss. May all your mornings feel like this.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are magnificent and the arrangement looks beautiful. Loving that elephant vase. You have unique pieces.
ReplyDeleteGood wishes to Agnes for brighter days. Maybe that dove is a sign?
my question is, did you behave around the garden keepers? And are you sure it wasn't your milkshake you were serving?
ReplyDeleteI was a good boy I was.
DeleteI am so glad you're enjoying the fine weather up/across, your way along with the showy, sweet smelling blossoms. Nothing like the smell of spring flowers.
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE MUG! Such a sweet and generous thing to do!
Nice to see Agnes coming out and about. Wishing her lots and lots of love and thoughts and kindness.
ReplyDeleteWhich is very easy to do with your Ode to Spring. Sadly, we are a bit overcast and windy, but out on a walk through the hood we spied several native trees blooming in pinks and whites and purples!
It's coming ...
The flowers are beautiful, Mads. I can almost smell them! Nope, that's my perfume. Well, they're gorgeous, anyway.
ReplyDeleteHugs to Ms. Agnes.
I'm glad you like the mug, sweetie. My bribe is working. I'm on the good side of the squirrels. Yay!
I used my mug two days in a row!!! Thank you again my dear.
DeleteGorgeous flowers, sweetpea! I bought some gorgeous yellow tulips for our anniversary and also in celebration of my first trip back to Trader Joe's a few weeks after my 2nd vaccine! this Spring seems unlike any I've ever experienced, a mix of deep felt hope with just a tiny tinge of trepidation! Enjoy the lovely weather, darlin! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love tulip too! I feel the same way. Excitement...but will still hold back and have some trepidation. It will be some time till I get pricked.
DeleteThe blossoms are gorgeous! I can't wait until my lilacs are in bloom!
ReplyDeleteHope happier days are ahead for Agnes. So sad to hear the news.
I'm sorry to hear about Agnes and William. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteSpring has been weird for me. We should've had at least a few days at 90+ degrees by now, but lately it's been unseasonably cool.
Once moved, maybe you can see Fearsome Beard more! He's a cool dude!!!!
DeleteI haven't seen any blooms yet, but yesterday was quite springy! We needed a nice weekend after the dreads of last week. I even slept with the windows open last night. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteIt is great to see you feeling so springlike😍 Does this mean the Snow White side is showing?
ReplyDeleteFor now......
DeleteIt was a much needed breath of fresh air today. I opened every blind, door, and window and let the desk air and sunlight flood every corner of our house. So reinvigorating.
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers and, of course, the elephant flower pot!
Happy spring!

😂😂😂😂😂 I feel ya!!!
DeleteNice to let the fresh air in isn't it?
*fresh sir*
ReplyDelete*fresh air* (Sigh.)
ReplyDeleteI love that colourful Spring flower bouquet!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post. Tulips are my favorite. We once went to the tulip fields in Washington state. Gorgeous--just like you!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Gorgeous photos, cutie!
ReplyDeleteI wish it felt like spring here in Maine. Looks like the gardeners are actually enjoying themselves with comradery.
Their a nice friendly bunch!
DeleteFirst and foremost, my condolences to Agnes.
ReplyDeleteI love spring flowers especially hyacinth as their perfume is gorgeous.
It's not very springlike here. It's dull with a North West wind.
It won't be long until we can gather outside in groups of up to six. I hope it's warmer soon!
Take care. X
I hope you have been doing well. I hear the birds and see the flowers and think of you. It would be nice to have a cocktail with you in your lovely garden.
DeleteThink I keep sayin' it but, I adore Spring. I really do! 🙂
ReplyDeleteAnd yours looks so lovely! 👏🏻
The dove on the window sill is adorable.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, bright spring blooms, Maddie. Don't they look lovely shooting up out of that elephant!
ReplyDeleteThe snowdrops and crocuses are nearly over here, but the hyacinths and tulips are almost out to join in with the daffs. Spring is finally here!
Big hugs to Agnes Goldberg-DeWoofs x
It must be cold in Pennsylvania in the winter; our snowdrops are over and the squirrel has eaten my crocus. The forsythia is out as are the daffs, primroses and grape hyacinth. My tulips have buds on them and it shouldn't be long before the early varieties are out. Robins are seen as winter birds over here....in fact they are around all year long.
ReplyDeleteOur weather Helen is often behind you by at least a month. Although we had a very mild winter...temps were usually in the high 20s 30s. ..till all the snow storms that is.Lately it has been lovely though.
Deletelove the pics of your home/garden you do.
ReplyDeleteGet a little sun this week,
ReplyDeleteI read that as "get a little sin this week"; honey, the mistress is ALWAYS getting sin!
DeleteBeautiful flowers!!! happy spring!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about Agnes Goldberg-DeWoofs. Here's hoping for a happier Spring.
