Grande Dame of the Week

The fabulous and groovy Brini Maxwell!

The week's Grande Dame is in honor of our California diva Kailyn whose blog Kailyn Creations can be accessed in my blog list. Kailyn is heading to New York for the up coming weekend and David Dust and the Mistress are going to catch up with her for some dinner and cock-a-tails.( and probably criuse for men) And like Kailyn, this weeks diva is also a domestic Goddess. Brini Maxwell is a different kind of drag queen. Brini makes kitch feel classy through her unparalleled personal flair for her delish cooking and gourmet treats, home design, and entertaining. Brini got inspired by a devine thrift shop purchase of 1950s nesting bowls, and Brini was born! She began sharing her vintage know-how in 1998 through her self titled cable access show. With a emphasis on fabulousness, Brini, after five years on local airwaves, had her show picked up by the Style network and attracted a diverse audience through it's national airwaves. A little known fact about Brini is that she is a real child prodigy in the area of domestic science. She now spend her time touring and making personal appearances, shopping thrift stores for more inspiration and looking for a second home in Palm Springs California. Maybe these two divas can hook up for a show together.

I love me a little Brini. She is like the Marhta of the gay community.

  2. How did I not know about Brini? LOVE her. Especially since Kitchen Witch compared her to Martha. For many years my friends have been calling me the Black Martha.

"Yeah. I worked an eight hour day at the office. Then I came home and whipped up this handknit creation while making a gourmet meal. Oh, and delicious cupcakes for the office."

I bet Brini shares my love of Lilly Pulitzer as well.

  4. Spouse & I used to LOVE watching Brini's show on the Style network. I wish it would bring Brini's show back. Not only was she delightful, but her sets were fabulous as well. We adore all those vintage furnishings!

So Brini lives in CA? She always seemed like more of a NYC gal to me.

A very nice blog Mistress! Years ago I worked with Brini Maxwell on her self titled show as a product specialist. And Brini is one of the calm, sweetest, and kindest person you'll ever meet. And funny too. Next time I talk to her I'll be sure to tell her to check in with the Mistress. I'm sure she will be tickled. Take care now.
