HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAME!!!!!

I just had to interrupt my vacation to wish one of my dearest and OLDEST friends a Very HAPPY BIRTHDAY today. Pearly Gates was kind enough to let me post from her lovely shack of the beach.... Today is my good friend and sister Mame's aka David Dust's birthday!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL!!!! I would have baked you a cake, but alas, I don't have a pan long enough to fit that many candles on it!! Now I know some of you know my sister Mame, not from her legendary drinking habits, or her keen eye talents for picking just the right hot go-go boy bar, or even her knowledge of where every damn Arby's is located, but from her legendary blog David Dust. She is doing just fine, and in a text today the old hag said she enjoyed a lovely Birthday Happy Hour out last night to celebrate the occasion. Knowing her, she probably closed down the Village last night!!!

The old gal looks pretty good for 105 wouldn't you say??? I also have the feeling these weren't the only  pearls necklaces she received last night! But after seeing this picture, and she being my guide through life, you can now see where I, as her much much younger friend got my fashion sense. Now back to my drinking and debaching, site seeing and responsible behavior.

Love ya girl!!!!!
Love your crown!!!
Love always-
Maddie

A ROYAL BAKER

Saturday was about baking. The Mistress was left to her own devices. Since I had sent everybody and the help away, I reserved the day to make a treat. My good friends and sister Mame, aka David Dust, and Kailyn will tell you, these treat are like crack!!!!! They both over dosed once!

They are the Mistress 's Mother's famous Sand tarts!

Sand tarts are a very thin sugar cookie that has been a tradition in our family since my great grandmother. When I was little, my mother and I spent the two weeks after Thanksgiving making JUST sand tarts. My mother still does. So far she has over 4,000 made to give away in addition to the other varieties she makes, and she even made some dough this year selling them. I usually make mine the week before Christmas for friends and work cronies at my abode. The recipe is very easy. It should be made the night before and kept in the refrig overnight. The recipe calls for:

Sand tarts
2 1/2 cups of sugar
2 cups of butter (1lb)
2 eggs
4 cups of flour

Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and mix. Add flour working it in well. Mix thoroughly with no lumps. Chill overnight. Have some lovely G&T'S in the meantime!!! There always time for a cock-a-tail!  When you go to bake the cookies pull the dough out and let soften before you start to cut the dough into balls. After the dough is softened, I cut the dough off in pieces and into medium size balls, which I love to handle. Who doesn't like to handle balls!

Place wax paper over the dough ball and roll till very thin. This is my mother's trick to getting them soooo thin. Pull off the top layer of wax paper and use for the bottom piece on the next roll-out. Select your cookie cutter of choice. This year I used snowmen, bells ,trees ,and  a star. Every couple of cuts with the cookie cutter I'll dip it in flour so the cutter won't pull the dough up.

Once the dough is rolled out very flat and the design has been pressed ,you remove the extra dough from around the design and place back in the dough bowl for the next batch to be made. This is the time consuming part. The last thing to do is sugar the cookies with a dusting of the colored sugar before sending off to the oven. If you don't care for the sugar you can take a pastry brush and dip in egg white and brush the cookie with it and then garnish with crushed nuts, or a almond.

Once they are in the oven for anywhere for 6-8 minutes the little gems can come out. After 6 minutes I check on them .Everyone's oven is different, so when they look a little golden I take them out. Sometimes I 'll keep them in a little longer for a darker color. The crispy dark ones some people like too, so I will do light and dark ones, just like my men! Once they come out of the oven, they will look like this.

Then it is off to the cooling table. on cooling racks .On the wax paper. You can slide the whole sheet of wax paper off the sheet to the table. Once cooled ,you can pop them off and cool them awhile longer. The finished product......

This tray was going to be for later after dinner, when we come back for a nightcap. When I have a party here, or at work,  I sometime garnish the platter with mixed nuts or sometimes frame the platter with pine boughs. If you have the time, these cookies really are a hit. But I warn you they are very time consuming to make ,so I hope you have at least a day set aside. Whew! After all the baking was done, the Mistress was bushed! Buster was just waiting all night for a cookie to drop..... he watched like a hawk the whole time....

But in the end it was all worth it.
Can I help you to a old fashioned of egg nog anyone????

I had myself a nice strong glass of egg nog, when done, and then took a nice couple hours nap before going out to dinner. Tootles!

Letters from Sister Mame

You recall last weekend I was glamping with my good friend and sister Mame, aka David Dust, where we had a blast. While doing the post, I was thinking I hadn't shared any letters from Mame lately, so I thought what the hay. Mame is one of my oldest, and I do mean that with love, and drunkest, dearest friends a person could ask for. There isn't a happy hour in the city safe from a visit from Mame!

Why anyone that can down two half gallons of Bacardi Limon, and still keep her pearls on, has got to have talent. But I digress. Anyho, when she first moved the the big city, I would look forward to her letters filled with hilarity, and never being there before, I lived vicariously thought her, and her antics in the city. And mind ya, these were hand written letters, you know, on paper, and then were walked to a big blue box called a mailbox for you young ins! I still love hand written notes. But here's another letter from sister Mame.......

And on the flip side...........

Well, I did meet Steven eventually, and Mame was right on all counts, as she broke the bed in at our friend Wayne's Ranch! And what a good time she was. Now you can all thank Mame for creating and molding who the Mistress has become! She has always been such an inspiration, and was the first to tell me condoms were a form of sexual protection, not water balloons to throw at people. And since then we are both popular with the boys all over! You can read Mame's story, Voices From the Past on how we met. It wasn't all friendly at first. But to this day, I'm glad to have a good friend and sister like Mame. I love her like a rash!

Weekend of Glamping...A Blast!

Back from Glamping y'all!!!! What a blast it was! This past weekend my good friend and sister, Mame, aka David Dust and I decided to go visit our returned friend, Wayne, and some other friends of ours to The Woods Campground. If you ever get the chance- go!!!! It is a inexpensive get- a- away, a fun time, many activities and theme nights, and the grounds are kept very clean, the staff is great and EVERYBODY is very friendly and engaging. The owners John Adams and Pat have created the most unique camping experience. You can rent cabins or campers that sleeps up to five people. I found a lot of boys just like to pitch tents!!!!! It is also clothing optional if you fancy. We had been looking forward to this trip for a while and it didn't disappoint. We had several dinners with about 8 to 9 of us one night, in which we had BBQ Pork chops, Grilled Chicken Breast, Hamburgers and all the sides and other fix ins, and as you can imagine there was much cock-a-tailing! Poor dear Mame was even passed out the first night by 9:30!!!!!! The poor thing. She had to be un-zipped and tucked in. That gave the Mistress time to have a close encounter of the third kind! We spent time by the pool, had some laughs at the camp fire, hoping the Mistress wouldn't re- create the Towering Inferno, had some nature walks, and some golf cart rides. Many nights would end at the clubhouse where dancing commenced, and then end in the hot tub to un-wind. Most mornings for me were terrible hang overs.

My nap one day on the hammock, while hung over from the night before, looking up.
,
Now our friend, and host, Gary has a beautiful site, with cabin and camper, which he has now added a beautifully enclosed deck around both. He also has a fire pit, a  hot tub, and a grilling area. The place which is named the Cock Crossing has running water, hot water and electric, and a full stocked bar and ice maker. So as you can see, it is indeed glamping, not camping. And the Cock Crossing is named because of his love for roosters, not the other, contrary to believe.

Loved the weather station there....... I thought it was pink most days myself.

Many trails are named. I stayed on Naked Way myself.

This muscle bear had me purrrrring all weekend.....

Love the Pennsylvania Dutch humor here on this camper...

The SKY vodka tree....

My pyrotech skills are still in tact ,as I built a campfire for Mame and I one night at Gary's site.....

Another way while at Gary's site to relax..... it was heaven.

While there, we do enjoy a good golf cart ride, which alot of the permanent campers seem to have. Here is Margarita, my host's golf cart!

Complete with stereo system and cock-a-tail holders. There were many rides off and on trails, and often there is a 2am golf cart tour, with up to 11 golf carts riding through camp, with tons of drunken queens hooting and hollering! And then we ate alot.I don't know why Mame worried about starving....there were plenty of these to cut and stir fry.....

As you can see, Mame didn't have much left of a scond bottle of Bacardi Limon ......

Another lovely summer trip....and my last for the season. I just hate when summer is over, but I have to admit look forward to the season change if I must. Tootles!

Off Again... for Glamping in the Pocono Mountains

How do you like our camping attire? Over the top? Well dears, I'm off again to go Glamping with my good friend and sister, Mame, aka David Dust, to the all gay Woods Campground in the Poconos Mountains on Friday. I will receive her tomorrow afternoon, then dine for dinner in New Hope, before leaving on Friday in the AM. We always have a blast, even though Mame will tell you I starve her to death.

So it's off to go Glamping!!!!!!

You honestly didn't think we were tenting it did you? Oh you dears are something! No, We will be Glamping it in spacious rv's, and a cabin, with electric and running water, with all the amenities. There is a fire pit, a outdoor hot tub, and a beautiful deck to sip cock-a-tails. At night it get cold so we will be donning our fur and diamond look! Oh did I mention it is clothing optional? Yeah right like we would. There are many things to do while there, besides drinking. There will be golf cart off trail rides and......

....outdoor showers.... I love a nice outdoor shower.....

....swimming in the lake....

....a weenie roast...

The Woods also has lovely trails for hiking and a very nice stream with artsy rock sculptures a hot papi built a few years ago, called Streamhenge!

So I must get going, I must ready the Casa for tomorrow and make sure  the east wing is ready for Mame, and make sure the houseboys washed my outfits and unmentionables, and have my libations case packed.

Hopefully no bear will get us, like they would even dare bit into our libation soaked bodies!!!!! See next week ! Tootles!

It's Been a Mess at the Casa........

.........where to even start with my being vacant lately. It started last Thursday with a last minute trip on business to NYC. While there, I thought it might be nice to catch up with my good friend and sister Mame, Aka David Dust for dinner, and we did just that, mind ya it was in the village at Boots and Saddles, where a lovely go-go boy by the name of Franscio was on the menu, and he had more than enough personality for us all!!!! We were also joined by the very sweet and nicely built I might add, Ivan from Queer IV blog fame! It was great meeting him! A lovely time had by all. But what a long day. Meanwhile back at the Casa du Borghese, the Mistress had yet another mishap with her laptop the next day. Involving myself, two of the houseboys, a strong cock-a-tail, and a rubber chicken

Long story short, I am now getting acquainted with a whole laptop. Disgusted the Lad and clan decided to get my mine off of all the calamity going on, we would spend Saturday night at a place called Ceilio which was great fun. So as you can see, I haven't escaped NYC too much since Thursday. At this rate should I purchase a another residence? Oh dear. Now I am just trying to recover my picture library from the other laptop. But for now I'll just relax the rest of the evening, and I 'll be back soon, after I get my hunky Lab guy to get all my tech stuff back in order........

Now if you will excuse me, I need to lie around now and look fabulous for a few moments.

Lady Bunny was a Smash!!! And the Dumplings.

Well the Mistress survived all the birthday antics and is happy to say had a fabulous time with my good friend and sister Mame, aka David Dust in New York City. The main highlight was my favorite drag queen EVER- Lady Bunny's cabaret show, That Ain't No Lady. It was extremely funny and full of hilarity. The show was demented, delightful and hilarious featuring her trademark fitly songs, Laugh In style comedy, some dancing and general fuckery! If you visit the city, or live there, go see the show. Lady Bunny won't disappoint and she mingles with the crowd after. And she even had a cute papi go-go dancer. The info is below.

After the show it was off to The Urges Lounge to indulge in some go-go boy action. The bartender there was extremely friendly and even gave us birthday shots on the house, and alas, this is where the Mistress hit a wall. I don't even remember one of the go-gos, or even leaving the place and going back to Mame's flat!!! I understand though a good time was had by all and I may have been promised to a Brazilian hottie!!! Who knows. The next morning was ugly. I thought I was hit by a bus. But thoughts of Chinatown and the Excellent Dumpling House got me moving!

Once inside we were seated quickly, I think they knew better than to keep us waiting and they also had three wait staff tending to our needs. As you can see we made a pretty good dent in the menu with hardly any room left on the table. We par took of Steamed Pork Buns, oh happy day, were they ever good, crab rangoons, pork dumplings, pot stickers and Garlic Chicken. When we were done I couldn't move and told Mame to go hail a rickshaw to transport me! And I'm here to tell ya it cured the hangover!

We were just a tad thirsty too could you tell!

After lunch it was off to Pearl River, which I'll do a post of on Gals About Town blog, to take a peak at all the Asian wares and I bought myself some rice bowls and sandal wood soap. After Pearl River there was more shopping to replace my missing jacket, which I lost somewhere the night before, my scarf which went out a cab window, and a pair of underwear which I still don't know what happened to them!!!!! I also got beautiful sweaters in the Top Shop. My new favorite store!!! So another birthday has gone and I thank my good friend and sister Mame for helping me party! And no one passed out! Tootles.
