Another weekend whizzed by. There was no rest for the weary though. The Dame had requested me services to help with a huge wedding, that was taking place at the Hotel Hershey. Not just for the talent and help, but I'm very good at keeping him calm and sane. It was a beautiful day for a wedding and thank heavens the service ended before the early evening rains came. I got home to find at the Casa we had rain almost all afternoon...but in Hershey, only a 20-minute gaunt, was sunny till evening. Meanwhile the bride had used wisteria in her bouquet...it was stunning and it's one of my seasonal favorites. It's also one of my favorite colors...purple. Wisteria has a heavenly scent. Different variety of wisteria have scent ranging from floral and sweet to musky smells, some even very overpowering, and it isn't cheap to find at a florist shop if they carry it all. I would have hated to see this bride's bill just for the centerpiece flowers and bouquet. I told the Dame came could probably take the rest of the summer off!!!! I would love to have wisteria, but once it takes off, it goes crazy, taking over everything from other trees and gates... and would mostly likely engulf our whole garden shed. There is not really a place to plant it at the Casa. But it is certainly beautiful and eye catching, and it's stunning to see. In the language of flowers, wisteria signifies overly passionate love and obsession. Well, doesn't that just figure?
Wisteria is beautiful - perhaps the bride got hers from a friend to make her bouquet even more special? My neighbour over the road's wisteria is attracting plenty of attention as is the stunning glorious yellow/gold rose on my next-door neighbour's garage.
ReplyDeleteNo Helen...she got all the Listeria from my friends shop for her centerpices and bouquets. The roster is alone was a fortune!!!!
DeleteOhhh love purple!
ReplyDeleteAnd wisteria IS beautiful and it IS invasive. It needs to be kept under control, but it is sooooo absolutely pretty!
I always wonder when people spend tons of dough in their weedings. I would take that money and buy a second home.
XOXO
Second home? Hell...I'd travel with it. We had a wedding when I was working at the floral shop...the floral bill alone was almost $14,000. I may try wisteria one year. On the side of our house under the carpark, is four huge archways. It would look great there, but I may have to move all the peonies elsewhere.
DeleteThat's a beautiful spot for a wedding!
ReplyDeleteHotel Hershey Hotel and grounds are absolutely stunning. I don't think there's a bad place on the grounds to take bad pictures.
DeleteI love the smell of Wisteria, and it’s beautiful. One of the farm houses nearby has it over its frontage, and I am tempted to plant some myself - I don’t think I’d mind it taking over!!
ReplyDeleteSx
I don't think I mind either Scarlett. We have one place here I think I might be able to plant it, but I would have to research the conditions first. But where we park our cars, we have four archways that I think it would look nice growing in.
DeleteBrilliant photos, Wisteria I think is my favorite flower. And I like rosy cheeks (the bottom fourth from the bottom), too. The wedding must have been beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI just adore rosy cheeks!
DeleteIt's official, purple has replaced red as my favorite color. Red is a really close second, though.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean you'll be a part of the purple Hat Society?
DeleteNope. My purple hat got floppy on me. I hate when things that are supposed to be stiff get all floppy.
DeleteTell me about it. Just hangs there looking unenthused.
DeleteI have a whisteria , that won’t flower for another few years let
ReplyDeleteI hate purple btw
I like the shade of Wisteria....purple is calming for me. But Blue is my favorite.
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place. So much more classy than our dancing hotel fountain. Oy.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to put wisteria against the lattice panels The Man has made. He'll no doubt remind me how voracious it can be! (But he likes it, too)
ReplyDeleteWith your green thumb, you're sure to do well with it Dinah. Lattice....the prefect foundation for it.
DeleteI like wisteria, but you got to be at it constantly because it grows like a damn weed.
ReplyDeleteBitch, don't kill my vibe!!!! Damn right!!!! When a good mood hits on a Monday...that is perfect. Stunning post today! Made me happy.
ReplyDeleteFor half a minute I thought those cakes were yours! LOVE all the purple.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the mood this week!!! Are you still working at the flower shop? The meaning of the wisteria...overly passionate love and obsession. Perfect for your Scorpio tendencies.
ReplyDeleteSince my Monday is nearly over I can safely say that first picture made me smile and feel a little peaceful.
ReplyDeleteThat ass made me feel other things ....
Tundra Bunny here...
ReplyDeleteYour mood board is wonderful, as always! I've never seen or smelled wisteria in person, but I've always liked the way it hangs romantically from houses in Britain -- if something can hang romantically, LOL! I like purple too, especially lilacs, which always remind me of my childhood home. I saw my first robin today, which means summer is here!
You would have loved our house this spring...our lilacs went nuts. They were in bloom for three weeks, and the house smelled sooo good for that time. This is the first week there done now. At least we now have peonies blooming now, and they too smell good.
DeleteAnd yes. some things DO indeed hang romantically.
"Bitch, don't kill my vibe" followed by a supple ass. You'd think that would RESSURECT the vibe (as well a something more meatily tangible.)
ReplyDeleteI always seem to be RESSURECTED.
DeleteI planted a wisteria ten years ago. I'm still waiting for flowers.........
ReplyDeleteThis post reminds me of the poem "Warning" it's starts with the line, "When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple"
Lovely post. X
So you're not wearing purple yet! Your young still! I understand wisteria takes years to bloom.
DeleteNice mood,
ReplyDeleteWisteria, Lilac and Purple Iris are my faves and shall be planted on my grave someday I hope.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both!!!! All of favorites too.
DeleteHow beautiful - the Hershey Hotel! The Lilac are in bloom here. Lavender, pink, white, and dark grape. Gorgeous and they smell wonderful... don't last but a moment, but what a moment! Nice collection, love. I would join you for breakfast any morning. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteWe have here in the yard a miniature lilac bush...it went for three weeks blooming.....the house smelled wonderful....now I miss the scent. It was right outside my bedroom window.
DeleteWisteria is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI remember when those Torpedo Tits were a Thing. *LOL* Love Wisteria, wish it would grow here. I would let it take over. Glad the huge Wedding went so well. The Money spent on big Productions is Mind Blowing tho', isn't it?
