Lil Nas X attends the 2023 Met Gala, in a literal catsuit....in paint, beads and pearls using his own body.....an ode , no doubt to Lagerfeld's beloved cat, celebrating Karl Lagerfeld- A Line of Beauty at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. With other guest, there was also lots of skin. I wonder what Ms Wintour thought??? Anywhore...I could convert to a cat lover now... who knows.

ReplyDeleteI don't know what to make of him. And I'm further disgusted because my favorite dressed person and look was by someone, I despise Kim Kardashian. The look was incredible especially with that long bustled scarf wrap. And the pearl was legendary with Chanel and Lagerfeld.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if there's money for a charity or not, but the Metball is supposed to be for the stars just to get together and mingle without any awards, and the Dame Anna Wintour usually sets a theme for the evening or a featured designer, the fashion can be as over the top as you want it, this is one event where it's acceptable to go over the top, or very Avant-garde.

ReplyDeleteI have observed the endless hoo-ha about this year's Gala with utter horror and bemusement - there were so many, many dreadful "looks" this year. There were some nice frou-frou frocks - many of them the great man's own designs, of course - amongst all the attention-seekers (Jenna Ortega looked great in her Thom Browne outfit), but the outfits I felt worked the best with the theme of a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld were that Marc Jacobs one (unfortunately) worn by the Kardashian Klone Kendall Jenner (at leat the top half), the otherwise dreadful Cardi B in that extravagant Chen Peng number, someone called Conan Gray in his Balmain ensemble, and Jordan Roth (who?) was dressed as a "living fan" by Schiaparelli... Jx
Overall my little gin blossom, I have a feeling Karl Lagerfeld was looking down not pleased at a lot of what he saw. While some people looked pretty they didn't really encapsulate the theme I don't think, or just looked underwhelming. I agree with you, if Lagerfeld was the theme I think I would have worn an out right vintage Chanel or Lagerfeld piece.

DeleteMy favorite Met Ball to date was when they had the Alexander McQueen theme. The netball and the exhibit had to be one of the best I've ever seen. Did that exhibit come near you anywhere?
