Tonight, as an expression of peace and freedom in the Ukraine, I present some of my favorite classical pieces from Ukraine composers and a piece by Oksana Lyniv with the Youth Orchestra of Ukraine, that always moves me.
Mykhailo Kalachevsky
Vladmir Horowitz
Mykola Lysenko
Boris Lyatoshinsky
Oksana Lyniv, conducting the Youth Orchestra of Ukraine.
Bravo!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Thank you for sharing these. πΊπ¦
ReplyDeleteA beautiful tribute to the spirit of Ukraine!
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to Ukraine. I pray that there is a solution to all of this soon so no more innocent people are hurt or killed. Beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteI just love Rachmaninoff! I do believe Putin has shit in his little dictator pants on this one.
ReplyDeleteA delightful aspect of the Ukrainian culture. A beautiful tribute as we think of the country.
ReplyDeleteBravo.
I have to be honest; I know very little of classical music but must admit that last one did indeed move me for some reason. It was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThoughtful tribute...Intensely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGave me a nice listen while doing things around here.
Perfect tribute, sweetpea. xoxo

DeleteWell done.
ReplyDeleteI found Horowitz's hands rather mesmerizing.
The Rachmaninov was lovely - who could not want to support Ukraine (apart from the likes of Paul Gosar whose siblings warned the world off of him) in their fight against the overweening might of the USSR, brought back to life by Adolf Putrid.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know which one to post so posted them all. They were all a delight to hear last night.
DeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteI'm so afraid Vlad -that maniacal psychopath- is going to literally wipe all art from this country! Thank you for this selection. It put me in a mood...
XOXO
I worry. From what I have seen, the Ukraine will look like rubble. I have already seen so many beautiful buildings destroyed. But it's the people of the country.....
DeleteFantastic post. The arts are magical.
ReplyDeleteYou're one classy dame! I agree with Helen Lashbrook... that Rachmaninov alone could revitalize a nation. As things unfold over there, I am increasingly saddened and disillusioned. And ashamed that the GOP and FOX News are allowed to act as cheerleaders to such an atrocity.
ReplyDeleteI clean up once in a while!!!
DeleteWonderful musicians. Superb interpretation. I just recently heard the Ukraine National Philharmonic Orchestra on my public radio station....they were excellent. The whole day was dedicated to the music of the Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteSlava Ukraine!
ReplyDeleteGreat selections! Very nice tribute. The first selection of Mykhailo Kalachevsky ...Gorgeous and lustrous! Echoes of Mendelssohn and Tschaikowsky....BRAVO! Specifically looking up Ukrainian works to feature on my Facebook page, in honor of Ukrainian folks, as well as the symphony who is thinking of creating a whole concert. My heart goes out to the Ukrainian people today.
ReplyDeleteOh that would be lovely. If it comes to fruition, I hope it will be on WRTI for consummation.
DeleteVery sweet.
ReplyDeleteAnd that fucking Putin bombed the opera house. He's killed many civilians now with his cluster bombs. Thanks for bringing some beauty to the world.
ReplyDeleteI have seen various picture of some of the art centers and landmarks bombed. Shocking and sad
DeleteAt least they can be replaced...it's the people and broken families that can't.
This senseless war makes me so sad and afraid of the state of our world today.
ReplyDeleteIf many don't wake up soon and pay more attention to who they are voting for that is going to happen here yet.
DeleteWonderful, inspiring choices. I especially liked the Kalachevsky symphony.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Prayers for the people of Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteVirtual hugs, m'dear.
