MOOD BOARD

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend?

I was back in Bucks County once again...and just in time to enjoy the start of the blooming of certain trees like the Eastern Red Buds and certain magnolias. Look like Spring is really happening-finally. And nothing like having fresh blooms in the house, is there? It's so wonderful to see the beginnings of signs of life again. This past winter, for the most part, was a bust here, not much snow, and fairly mild in my opinion, but was harsh I felt from a news stand point. Well, let us hope that when the first day of Spring came this weekend, things will get back to the brighter side of life.

Are you seeing&feeling Spring in your zip code yet?

  1. Lovely pictures on the mood board this week. I'm so happy that spring is 'springing', the sun and the flowers make me happy! This was Williams favorite time of year.

    The Willow picture is adorable.

  3. Having fresh blooms in the home is a wonderful luxury (and makes such a difference) ... it's even better if the blooms come from your own garden! Which I haven't got.

    That flowering magnolias are stunning!!

  5. This mood board is certainly invoking spring. I feel a sudden urge to sneeze. We started the season off right yesterday when Balder decided to set up a new hammock for me. It isn't as stable as the one we take camping. He wanted to set it up in the patio (don't ask me why) but I talked him into using the lawn. He was so proud of his accomplishment and brought me out to test it. I sat, I slid, I fell, I laughed my butt off while enjoying the view of the hammock's underside. I felt like a cartoon character! Balder had a very shocked look on his face. Turns out, I just missed hitting my head on the little concrete wall bordering that part of the lawn. I got a bruised tailbone and a grazed knee but avoided a concussion or worse. Oh, happy day! Spring is my favorite season still. I'm moving like a little old lady, but my mind is jumping around like a little baby goat.

    1. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well at least you had the gumtion to tell him to move the thing to the lawn, could you have imagined hitting hard concrete?!?! The hammocks always make me nervous when they aren't attached to trees for some reason. But I bet that would have made for a funny video!!!!

  6. I love spring and yes, it's happening here!
I've been making good use of my greenhouse. Lots of seeds down and dahlias planted in pots, to go outside after the ice saints have visited in may.
It's such an exciting time for me. X

    1. Me too Jon, one of my favorites. If this weather keeps up, they will be open in a few days and very early. It's usually not another few weeks usually till they normally bloom, and alas, like the most beautiful, they are all bloomed and done in a matter of a week.

    2. A week?! Wow. No Spring flower lasts very long (particularly things like Irises, Crocus and Cherry blossoms), but we in London can expect Magnolias to be with us a tad longer than that... Jx

    3. Yep, If we get two weeks out of cherry blossoms and magnolias on the branch we are lucky. Other varieties of flowering trees last longer.

    1. The Redbud are the first flowering tree to bloom here generally...and they are early this year. They don't bloom till April usually.

No flowers yet here but I've seen some little plants coming up. It's going to probably go all out in the next weeks cause it's going to get warmer.
Love the mood board and love even more you included Willow Pill and Fabio Damotta.

  16. The snow melt is on here, just blue skies and chilly breezes to hint that spring is on its way! The only frost-free month on the Canadian prairies is July and I've driven through a couple of early May blizzards myself, so I wait with bated breath for the end of April to celebrate spring. Your mood board is wonderful -- beautiful flowers always lift my flagging spirits!

    1. The only month that is frost free is JULY!!!!!!! OMG! That seems forgeign to me. Do you have many flowering plants? And what kinds of temps do you get in the "summer" months?

      Delete
    2. Yes, we have plenty of flowering plants, both wild and domesticated. Once the snow melts, temps in May can warm up quickly to the mid-70's. June, July and August can see see temps in the high 80's, with humid heat waves spiking to high 90's! We can get wicked thunder and lightning storms here in the summer, and the occasional tornado. Like the rest of Canada, the prairies are a land of extremes, from -50 Celsius in winter to +40 Celsius in summer. And it's so flat here you can watch your dog run away from home for three days, LOL!

That is good info, I often wondered about Canadian prairie life. Thanks for taking time to fill me in on the fresh tip.

    4. I've no doubt said it before, but London is on the same latitude as Calgary in Canada! yes we are that far North, but we have the benefit of the Gulf Stream.

Philly, on the other hand, is on the same latitude as Majorca in Spain and Ankara in Turkey.

  17. Spring is in the air... I adore it. I've been out and about checking on some old haunting ground... yes, the boys are out and looking for a little something something. So glad. It is my favorite time of year. There are tulips... and then there are (my) two lips. Men tend to respond well to both. Kizzes.

  26. A few cherry trees are blooming - we don't have that many so they're noticeable. The biggest indication of Spring around here: The Pine Trees are jacking off. Yellow everywhere! Ugh.
