MOOD BOARD

A regular reader of this blog will tell you if your new, I'm so a summer person first and fore most. Luckily, I'm one to find beauty in each season though,  and can honestly say,  I enjoy each one. I think I'd miss the changing of the seasons if I lived somewhere that didn't have them. It would feel as thought every day of the year would look and feel the same, with no reference point to the time of year it is. Needless to say, it always takes me a minute to change gears from summer into Autumn, more then any other. The first thing I don't like is the shorter days and getting dark early...and the cooler temps. I'm a hot house flower. And if I do any travel the fun times are over for now. Although, Pearly has talked me into a late Autumn visit back to P-town.  But once a week or two into the new equinox, I'm in! It means candle lit nights, fire pits, cashmere sweaters, I love me some plaid pants, wardrobe layering, mulled cider, brilliant fall colors, cooler breeze blowing in the windows at night...a nice time to add a extra blanket and nest. I like to sleep cooler. Love my comfort foods!!! I give most of those up in the late spring and summer and live mostly on fruits, veggies, seafood and cold pasta dishes ...so when fall rolls around look out! I go into cooking overload. And then of course the autumn bring about my favorite holiday...Halloween and the date I was bore. How old will I be? Well, somewhere between 40 and death. My current mood is a collection of not quite fall mood, but more like easing into it? What s your favorite season?

    1. I agree, both summer and autumn have brilliant colors...different colors, but both brilliant.

  4. You little orchid, you! My favorite season is spring when everything is waking up, brand spanking fresh and new. Followed by autumn, when everything is preparing to sleep again. Ooh, look at me, waxing all poetic and crap :)

    1. I just bet you got your quill out and writing some passages.

Summer is my favorite, but Spring is in a dead heat tie. Spring and Autumn always remind me of my favorite Greek myth, explaining why the change of season.. of the Mother Demeter and whose daughter Persephone, eating the pomegranate in hell and must go to Hades part of the year, every year.

  6. Nice collection this week, I can tell your getting in the mood. My favorite is the acorn picture. But that home in the forest is calling my name. I love Autumn the best, but I know my old body will not like the cooler temps. I don't care for the getting dark early either. And I know how you love your fall layering. Give me a nice warm cashmere sweater any day.

  9. Beautiful photos. Winter is my favorite season. Doors/windows open and going topless in the car. I wouldn't mind a two legged bear laying on top of me.

  10. I love Fall through the eyes of yourself. Very wonderful! And you listed some of my favorite things about fall. Nothing like the smell and taste of hot mulled cider.

  11. I adore autumn as well, sweetie and those colors and that home are stunning. Your giving me some major fall vibes...the push I needed. It is coming to a huge halt here on the cape finally. Back to normal.

  14. What a beautiful perspective from which to view the glorious coming in of autumn! I have to ease into too. But love fall dressing. I love my cords and sweaters. But that house is coming my name.

I, too, like every season, because they are all so different, but what I think I really like is when ne season changes to the next, because you can feel it and smell it in the air.
    Change.

    1. The time I hate is when the last of the leaves die and fall...and then it's bleak....at least till the Snow Queen arrives and blankets everything in all white crystal glistening snow and ice.

  17. I love the trasitional seasons - autumn and spring - but they are both too brief. Halloween should be a year-long event!

  18. I actually like autumn better than spring, if only because April is so fucking wet! What I don't like is that the days then become shorter. And I love summer and the beach. Oh well.
And that peephole got me inspired!

  19. I guess winter is my favorite because it's cooler and I get so very tired of the heat in Florida. Winter is also the time to decorate and celebrate Christmas, which I love. I enjoy baking cookies. Sweet Cheeks loves my decorations, especially all the lights.

    Love,
    Janie

  22. I do like the coolness of spring and autumn. Though I do like shorts weather, nothing like admiring a nice pair of legs on a guy. But it’s time for soups, stews and slow cooker meals.

  23. Being a Tundra Bunny, I do LOVE winter -- especially when the snow drifts sparkle like diamonds or on milder days when big, fat snowflakes fall slowly from the sky. Be it on the Canadian prairies or High Arctic tundra, there is nothing like a white expanse as far as the eye can see with a brilliant blue sky overhead to make one feel alive! With winter comes much less daylight, however, and my urge to hibernate becomes as strong as the coffee I drink to stay awake, LOL!

    1. Im right there with you on the snow and your lovely description. Nothing like seeing a snow covering making it appear like diamonds and jewels sparkling. And I do love me some nice nesting and hibernation.

  25. I love each season in its turn and wouldn't want to live anywhere where the season's blended.
Spring is for the thrill of seeing the snowdrops, tulips and narcissus. Summer for lazy hours in a garden chair, a book, a glass of something cool. Revelling in the light, blue skies, roses, fresh salads from the garden.
Autumn brings certain pleasures like making jam and jellies, preserving beetroot and shallots from our allotment. But it is my least favourite season. I always feel that a part of me dies , along with the garden.
And then winter. Winter is ok. I love the woodburner we have and the small sitting room we use, only in winter. It has dark red walls, plaid sofas, and black and white photos of family, going back to the late 1800's. A whole wall full.
I love winter food, stews and roasts. And of course Christmas and New year.

Loved reading the comments, enjoying everyone's thoughts.
    Great post, mistress.x

  26. Summer. Spring comes second. I abhor winter, and autumn is just a reminder that winter is around the corner. I do like Halloween and (more for secular than spiritual reasons) Christmas, though, so those seasons aren't all bad.

  27. I love dandelions; it's a shame they are so prolific and would swamp the garden if you let them. The French call them Dents de Lion or alternatively Piss en lit for their diuretic qualities.

I too am a summer person, living as much as possible in the conservatory and eating salads, enjoying the sunshine. The advantages of winter are, as you say, cashmere but then it's also cassoulet time.
