SUMMERS TEA DANCE

It is a downright beautiful day here today! Last week when up at the Woods, I did another set of selections for the pool tea dance with the camps DJ. I have always loved a good afternoon tea dance, with nice weather, men dancing in bathing suits, and fun music. Who knows, made I will learn next how to do the actual mixing. But I admit it is great fun to see how your sections make the crowd move, and watching him do the mix. This was the selections that closed up the summer. Now dance little monkeys!!

Club and house transends.....some of these are groundbreaking pieces of music.. and totally infectious 18 years or more later. Plastic Dreams use to get that dance floor PACKED with voguing, ball and runways. Some damn good times at the Roxy. LOVE the Ring My Bell.

  12. That is quite an intresting list. Some popular and some real obscure. But the Faith Evans will always BE MY SONG. It was the first time when moving to Philly I went to Shampoo and danced my ass off. Mesmerized was the first song I heard that night and danced my ass off. It still get me going.

  17. I love you!!!!!! You need to do this somewhere! I love your sections. I went nuts when I heard Speed Garage's Sing a Song, H2O, Snap and Gusto!!!!! Yas dear!!!!! Wonderful times in the mid to late 90s, aged 16-20. When there were no cells, so we had to meet at a set club, and 11pm and 2am closures meant being out at 6 or 7 am after parties where the real shit spun! There was an air of fun and church. Brilliant fun, good times! Go on DJ Mistress Borghese!

Many of these songs pulse along with a threnody of energy. It's euphoric. The whole damn magical list of it. And the boy loved the newer artist. Damn you put together a great set list.

  22. I really like and always did love this kind of music, which brings us such a melancholic, and at the same time, an uplifting vibe! A bittersweet symphony! Lord, I miss a good club anymore, even here. And I loved the addition of the disco touches too, love me some Anita Ward.

  25. Now, see... If I went to a club and you were spinning, I would never leave the damn dance floor. Why isn't there a club with a DJ like you, my dear? I adore all this. You hit on so many faves. Jess and Sophie and Martha and Donna and Jocelyn and Gladys and... you even picked a Bananarama that's terribly overlooked... and I adore. Thanks for making my Monday, hon. You da best.

  26. Back when I used to go clubbing, it was the music that would keep me there for an extended period of time. Nowadays, I love listening to that music while driving.

    You're great at this!

  27. Where are the oldies, but goodies, that should be played at a tea dance - Memories are Made of This, the Last Rose of Summer etc.. That's not to say that I don't like some of this music; maybe I'm old-fashioned but it really doesn't go with ladies in floating organza dresses and the gentlemen in flannels, blazer and boater that are de rigeur at tea dances.
