More Sapphira! Continuing with the Cristal Ball Era post the other day, in addition to her forth coming album and single Enough, she has also made O Mio Babbinao Caro into a video. Which is an aria from the opera Gianni Schicchi, about tensions between the main character Lauretta and her father, Gianni and the family of Rinuccio, the boy she loves, with a twist of kept girl and sugar daddy. And yes... darlings, it is her singing, changing the words and subtitled it yet. Just another example of her brilliance, creativity and bringing a genre like opera and putting a spin on it. Not to mention knows the biz and had the likes of the crazy and zany Katya in the video with her.
What a stunning voice! She would do well in the world of opera.
ReplyDeleteOh. SHIT.
ReplyDeleteIt's been brought. That's all I have to say. The LYRICS!!!
No crumbs were left. Bravissima!
XOXO
Opera will never be the same, LOL! (She does indeed have a beautiful voice!)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. Could Sugar Daddy be any more disgusting?!? After that video, I want to go to Puerta Valllarta, too.
ReplyDeleteWow! If that's genuinely her singing, then I am impressed... Jx
ReplyDeletePS I agree with Mitch - that "Deadpool-lookey-likey Daddy" played by Katya is utterly repellent - but the boys on the beach make up for all that!
Oh yes. She has been a highly talented queen in our fair city. Her show is a must see, and a voice that must be heard.
DeleteYes, I too am here to say Sapphira's voice is truly phenomenal having seen three of her shows. The only other queen I know that sings opera is the fabulous LaLa McCallan.
DeleteAh yes! Lala McCallan - I first stumbled across her many, many moons ago... Is she still going? Her website (as featured in my post from 2010) is dead... Jx
DeleteI know her Website is still there last I looked, but I don't think she kept up with live or concert dates...and her last Instagram posts were in September of 2022, and the links are removed to access any tour or performances dates. I surmise she might have retired.
DeleteWOW! I know the aria and absolutely LOVED the new lyrics and visuals, sweetpea! Thank you for this mid-morning (for me) pick-up! xoxo
ReplyDeleteShe's quite incredible!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite aria. I'm dying.
ReplyDeleteI still say she should have won.
ReplyDeleteAnd so Brave of Katya to show up without make up.
Oh honey ! Sapphira is GOLD ! And see Katya supporting her Drag sister and friend for years it’s everything!!!!This video is a masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I ever heard her sing her opera was outdoors, yeah, but when I heard it in the cabaret venue where we saw her. BLOWN.AWAY. It is truly amazing, and that video cracked me up, and leave it to Katya to disgust us.
ReplyDeleteLove! Werk that Sapphira. That beat at the end with the remix, I need for my walks henny.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely. And such a booty on the gurl. Damn. Smack dat azz all night long. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteThe voice, the humor, the looks, the performance. WOW.
ReplyDeleteAlready a favorite queen of mine, and she may have moved up futher!!! Too funny and so Sapphira.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! The talent! The beauty! The absurdity!
ReplyDeleteI agree! This is excellent and a wonderful way for to bring new fans to the genre. It's not uncommon for some people who are classically trained to have a wonderful operatic voice. I know many who trained, but then for a myriad of reasons never pursued it.
Well I can say I have never seen Gianni Schicchi like this or those lyrics! This is magnificent and humorous.
ReplyDeleteI'm speechless! here his bio! and here his IG. This guy is briliant, genial!
ReplyDeleteHoney.....I know all about Sapphira....she a Philly queen and runs in our drag circles. Brilliant....YES.
DeleteVery nice also Katya, even if here he's disguised by a monstrous appearance.
DeleteThis is the italian original lyrics
ReplyDeleteOh! mio babbino caro,
mi piace, è bello, bello;
vo' andare in Porta Rossa
a comperar l'anello!
Si, si, ci voglio andare!
E se l'amassi indarno,
andrei sul Ponte Vecchio,
ma per buttarmi in Arno!
Mi struggo e mi tormento!
Dio, vorrei morir!
Babbo, pietà, pietà ...
and here the English version
Oh, dear daddy,
I like him, he's so handsome;
I want to go to Porta Rossa
to buy the ring!
Yes, yes, I do want to go!
And if I were to love him in vain,
I'd go to the Ponte Vecchio
and throw myself in the Arno!
I fret and suffer torments!
Oh, God, I wish I could die!
Daddy, have pity, have pity!
Love it!
ReplyDeleteTotally amazing!
'Opera Sovversiva'
Wow. Is just knew she was amazing.
ReplyDeleteBest Puccini I've heard in ages.
ReplyDeleteShe's quite something. If you ever make it to Philly you'll have to see one of her shows.
