When I heard that some on Maui couldn't use water to hose down their lawns and homes I was outraged.
The regular, everyday people always get screwed, so the 1% always get the treatment. Nice to see capitalism is alive and well, even in one of the US's largest devastating fires.
And my friend, Rodin was in Philly this weekend and posted this on his Instagram. An event giving away banned books!!! Right outside, apparently of the Moms for Liberity Conference.
The one about Maui does not surprise me at all. Love the banned books one! Sooooo, you're slap-happy, are you?
ReplyDeleteIm a dog person with a cat personality!!!!!
DeleteSo tragic (and typical) about Maui. Genius idea at the Moron's for Fascism conference (or whatever they are). And, oh yes, that cat is you!
ReplyDeleteOh, Maui suffers from colonialism. That's not even questioned.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that for the KKKarens with Kasseroles! If I could, I would buy banned books and would give them away too! yay Philly!
XOXO
As soon as my friend put this on Instagram I thought of you immediately and how you'd probably love it.
DeleteMaui? Typical! I wonder how many kids would've sought out some of these books if they hadn't have been banned? Ms Moorecock certainly knows her pugnacious, pugilistic pussies!
ReplyDeleteThe Mom's of Liberty are a hate group that simply hates to be hated.
ReplyDeleteTears. Thank you for exposing the criminal evils that also tend to leech off of the most disimpowered. "Disaster capitalism"- disgusting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in Robyn! I think capitalism on all fronts is getting more and more disgusting.
DeleteI lived in LaHaina for a couple of years, and visited many times both before and after, and the devastation of that town makes me cry. Seeing a picture of Front Street both before and after the fire is chilling; I can almost pick out the spot where I had my first apartment there.
ReplyDeleteFuck the tourists, I say; protect the residents.
As for the banned book giveaway, that is priceless. I would love to see that happen more and more often.
I only wished I'd been in Philly for that!!!!! And I have never been to Hawaii, but the before and after is chilling. Figures some are more worried about the resorts and golf courses. They should be the least of the worries. And if they have to golf that bad, there are many, many other places to go hit a little white ball.
DeleteThat water deal makes me furious. At least where I live, we've seen a number of golf courses die due to the drought. The game is fun to play on a console or computer, but in real life what purpose does it serve? Besides, that land could be converted to affordable housing.
ReplyDelete"hat land could be converted to affordable housing." Now that is funny, but we know they would never let that happen...heavens forbid.
DeleteTourists, - What in their mind and in their hearts that makes some people think this is OK? This is such a fucking slap in the face to everyone who is directly affected by this tragedy.
ReplyDeleteTundra Bunny here...
ReplyDeleteGive 'em hell, Maddie!
Golf courses are among the most damaging developments to ecosystems due to the fertilizers, herbicides, water usage, etcetera in the maintenance of the greens. I think all golf courses should be limited to 9 holes like one we have in northern Saskatchewan that was carved out of the Precambrian Shield: compact design, natural hazards such as granite boulder outcrops, trees and the nearby lake. The only downside was having to outrun the black bear mama who made her den every year on Hole 2, LOL!
Grrrrrrrr! Golf courses and book banners. I drove from Phoenix to Tucson, in January, out across a vast desert, and the in the middle of it, a massive field of bright green alfalfa hay, not food to feed the people, for the horses, while the southwest was suffering a multi year drought, irrigated and lush. Grrrrr, how long since I have slapped anyone?
ReplyDeleteyour comment actually made me chuckle! And you raise another point. Why is everything have to be developed can't we enjoy any natural space?
DeleteOh, I love, love, love! the banned book idea.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's better than slapping those bitches - they'd have ya arrested and sue.
Truly hurting for the folks on Maui. So much devastation. Much will never be restored.
This post is both sad and uplifting at the same time.
ReplyDeleteLove the book banned give out!!!! See, where there is a will there is a way.
ReplyDeleteFuck the gold courses and resorts.
I want that cat. Great attitude. Good instincts. Would behave in the same manner if I could get away with it. The book giveaway is inspired. And Maui... a tragedy. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteOur government acts purely in the interests of the rich. Rather than dealing with all the pressing issues of the day (sewage, working people dependent on food banks etc.) they worry about a rich ex-stockbroker who has been refused a bank account at Coutts Posh Bank plc.
ReplyDeleteWhich is a shame because Republicans have almost no power in Hawaii unless they run as a democrat
