BACK ALLEY

Get the wire hangers ready women.

I'm soooo over this fucking country. Do as they may... there will always be a way to get an abortion, they will never end it. Just a shame a woman can't make up her own mind and do it safely.

    HuntleyBiGuy:
I just read a story where states will criminalize facilitating an abortion as a felony, right up there with second degree murder. So if you drive someone to a clinic for an abortion you could end up being charged. And we’ve all heard the stories about good ol’ Texas putting bounties on facilitators. All of these repuglicans should be removed from office post haste.

  5. Oh you poor people of the US. I just look on in astonishment of how back in time the country is going. I surmise soon they will be telling you what to eat, curfew at 11pm and lights out by midnight. At this point doesn't matter what party runs the country...it just seems to get worst. American Horror Story comes to mind.

  6. The liberal justices warned that other watershed decisions guaranteeing key rights were in jeopardy, given the conservative court’s reasoning ― including the right to contraception and the right of people to marry members of the same sex. Indeed, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in a concurring opinion that those cases should be reconsidered soon.

  7. The conservative justices on the Supreme Court will do what they want to do, what they were put there to do. Not because it is right or just, but because they now can.
Our democracy is in the greatest danger it ever has been in. Not from outside forces, but from internal forces. We have seen this happen the world over, but never believed it could happen to us. It is happening and it will happen quickly unless we do something about it now. But it may be too late.

  8. I don't get Biden. Biden needs to get busy and increase the size of the Supreme Court from 9 to 13 and add fair minded Justices who support human rights for women. However, we need a significant majority in the Senate to pull it off and I don't see that happening. Organize, organize, organize & Vote Blue. A year ago, I would have disagreed, but at this point what does it matter anymore, the union is held together by a fraying thread and any measure to limit further damage to our human rights is the right choice. The only other choice is state secession, I don't just believe the union can withstand much longer.

  9. This is bullshit!!!! Right now, I don't own my own body. It was never about privacy, it's about whether or not your physical body belongs to you. Apparently if you're a woman, it belongs to the government and the potential life, the fetus, whether or not it's a viable fetus or whether or not the pregnancy puts the mothers life and health at risk, what matters most is what the government says. If a woman wanted, she could just "accidentally" fall down a flight of stairs.

  10. It is a very sorrowful day for America. Those right-wing conservatives who think this will stop abortions are delusional as now those seeking abortions will go underground to find providers or do it themselves. Both could have deadly consequences. And yet the right-wing bastards say they are pro-life?!?!?!?!?! Well, where is there pro-life when it came to mask wearing, Covid, and getting gun control? The GOP and the SCOTUS can kiss my ass.

None of the three provided any Constitutional basis for abortion. Their entire dissent was based of feeling. The decision does not ban abortion within the USA rather it gives the voters of each and every State as per the 10th Amendment to decide for themselves what direction their State will go.

    1. There's no constitutional basis for Thomas to have married a white woman, either. Neither is there a right for men of color to hold down judicial positions. Your argument is circular and self-serving.

  19. I don't have a lot of sympathy for the liberal justices either - they ought to just boycott the conservative majority altogether - they might "dissent" but then they go get a beer after work with the white supremacists taking away democracy and turning it into a theocracy. Dissenting opinions might make them feel better about themselves, but they don't matter one whit in the long run. Spare me your "dissent" - tell us how to stop this slide towards theocracy!

These Americans perpetrated the most egregious abuse of the U.S. Supreme Court of our lifetimes to misread the U.S Constitution and assault human rights. They should all be mercilessly castigated by future historians.

  21. Liberals respect women. Conservative men want to control them. Once we start to get a bumper crop of rape babies who by definition the impregnator should have no contact other than child support, I think every conservative male Supreme Court should serve be named the parent for four of five of them, as they were responsible for their birth. The rest can be tagged the responsibility of the Catholic Church.

  22. While I have never, and wouldn't want any kids, women are now second class citizens in America. No longer can we make our own medical decisions without the Government being involved. Believe me, I get the message loud and clear. Women need to rise up and vote like their lives depend on it.

We are now a third world country that is being ruled by the Vatican. Alito and the others want us to be a theocracy. Fuck them. AND YET Nancy Pelosi is STIILL fucking supporting an anti-choice and pro-gun candidate in Texas. She is not helping the problem.

  25. I knew this would happen. Not surprised. But what frustrates me more is the democrats. The typical response is to just vote. Vote blue no matter. Even if half of the blue are conservative democrats. Dems have had 50 years to codify Roe vs Wade. NOW they'll fundraise off the issue they largely bailed on. I have already gotten 10 emails today to donate to democrats. But no one more, not one dime till they do as they say. Are they better than Republicans? Yes. But Dems are in power now but don't ask them do anything, so they can rely on donations come election time. Biden could make one phone call right now to the US archivist to certify and publish the equal rights amendment right now.... and make amendments to the constitution to give women the textual constitutional basis we would need to have an abortion as a constitutional right. Biden could do this right now, but they lie and pander and they refuse to publish the ERA. At least with the evil Republicans we know they hate us...Democrats never want to fix the problem, they just want to fundraiser and get money, but they never fix the problem, but no money can be made in a solution and that's why they don't find one.

    1. I couldn't disagree. I feel the same. Funny how when this happens the dem emails go through the roof, and yet when elected do nothing about what they ran on. I'm a dem, but feel as though looking for another party. But sadly is none...because the R's and D's cut off the air of any other party.

    3. Suzi, you have summed up how I feel as well. I never thought I'd say that about my own party, but I do feel as though they don't want to find a solution some days. If they did, they would rake in even more money to stay in power. I feel as though me and many friends will stay, gruding to support the Dems, but are we happy?

  27. Very upsetting. Clarence Thomas needs to be booted off the court, as does Amy and that rapist frat boy. When the pendulum swings back... payback will be a bitch... a bunch of them... hopefully they will be angry black lesbians and rule with an iron fist. F the GOP. Destroy 'em.

Tundra Bunny here... if SCOTUS can overturn 50 years of legal precedent and eliminate American women's autonomy over their own bodies/reproductive systems with a stroke of a pen, then ALL civil rights will be in their cross-hairs. What's next? Complete disenfranchisement of women, people of colour, LGBTQ+ people? A return to Jim Crow laws? Absolutely appalling. So much for separation of church and state in the U.S. As a Canadian, I don't see much difference between the Democratic Party and GOP as they are both hidebound -- why are there only two parties from which to choose?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They can take their church and solve it up their asses. I have been asking why just two parties for years. Suzi from above has summed it up exactly as I feel. Dems mean well, but then don't come through on issues and then want to run for election, asking for a handout yet again with the same promises. Nope. Not a dime for any of them till I see action, and less pussy footing talk. And most of the dems are conservative dems, and some days I don't see much difference either.

First off I love your blog and have been reading for four years and have never commented, but Im so outraged over the Roe vs Wade being over turned. Democrats' failure to protect women from Republican plots they knew were coming has cost them this lifelong Democratic voter. Dems are failing women at every turn. Not to mention they can't bring themselves to utter the word "woman" anymore. Unless it's in reference to transwomen of course! They can't even define what a woman is its no wonder they're abject failures at protecting our rights. I'm disgusted and done!

    1. I agree and am getting very frustrated. The centrists who are now telling us that "democracy is at stake" are the very same ones who told us Biden would be fine, give him more time , and we'll push him further left. Funny how everything is at stake again right before elections.

  33. The whole of the supreme Court is a joke, all they did was take a vote, the might as well voted by using the rock, scissors, paper, hand method.

  34. This is ridiculous. We have video showing these justice, said one thing in sitting with the interviewing Senators and the American people via the senate panel and now they all reneged and or lied. Shouldn’t this be a crime? The reneging or lying must be addressed in that there’s no failsafe process to select a Supreme Court justice other than trusting they will be honest. The Bible they swear on says clearly “put not your trust in man”!

    1. This is the real problem in the US. We do not enforce our own rules and laws. We don't even understand democracy and the rule of law.

I guess the US has never been a real democracy with real rule of law principles and it doesn't know how to be either.
