For fucks sake. Biden is nominating an anti-Abortion lawyer to become a Federal Judge...because of course he can. The Biden administration is playing pro-choice in the streets and spinless in the sheets when it comes to women's rights and somehow Mitch McConnell is somehow behind all of it. Less than a week after the Supreme Court gave women across America the go fuck yourself finger, with the repeal of Roe vs Wade, Biden is slated to nominate a Republican anti-abortion lawyer to a lifetime appointment as a federal judge in Kentucky in an alleged deal struck with Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell. The prospective nominee, conservative republican lawyer Chad Meredith. This isn't sitting well with some dems or myself, who has never been 100% sold on Biden. And this doesn't help. Would I like to believe that the democrats would add more seats to the house and gain some in the senate in 2024 and do the right thing by women and on so many other issues? Sure. But this is not going to be the way to do it, just as Nancy Pelosi isn't helping by supporting anti-choice and pro- gun candidates. I realize things can't change overnight, but would it hurt to lend support and backing to more progressive candidates? And if Biden thinks that by doing this as a "deal" with McConnell intended to placate McConnell, who will supposedly pledge to not stall further federal nominations by the Biden White House, then he is a bigger fool to trust McConnell.
How has he been re-elected all these years is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteI think people are just lazy to do research on new candidates, so they just keep voting for the same old fools. If people could see a physical break down on paper how these people affect them, then maybe they vote for better candidates.
DeleteI saw this too and was right mad. President Biden and the Democrats in Congress keep letting Turtle McConnel out-smart them. At this stage it is difficult to see how any of them would trust anything coming from McConnel ... a man who goes back on his word whenever it suits him and he can gain some power advantage. Democrats need to stop being Mr. Nice Guy, and start playing hardball ... otherwise, sadly, a LOT of the base is going to stay home in November. I'm already pleading with friends they have to vote.
ReplyDeleteI think what we need is more progressive candidates in the party and a younger, democratic for President. We need fresh perspective, in both parties actually. And we must start taking care of this country and things to help the people. I have never been more disgusted. I see so many breaking their backs, and still can't make it or afford healthcare and such.
DeleteAgreed. Enough is enough.
ReplyDeleteHuh....Biden thought he could work with and make a deal with Manchin and Sinema too.
ReplyDeleteWe see how well that went.
And Nancy still hasn't learned.
DeleteBiden and the Democrats are infuriating! I truly feel that I don’t have a real choice/representation in the voting booth. Every chance I get in primaries I've been voting for new dem candidates or progressives.
ReplyDeleteI just keep shaking my head on the way our country is going. I'm surprise I haven't shook out anything yet.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
I have nothing left to shake out Dora.
DeleteCan't wait for the Democrats to blame progressives when republicans sweep the next round of elections. It puzzles me why us Dems don't take in more and support progressive more often. At least them and us could get more done.
ReplyDeleteIf we get too many conservative dems we might as well have two conservative parties and be done with it. We do need to get more progressives and bring in some fresh air. Both parties seem like shells of themselves.
DeleteWrong. The Supreme Court followed the constitution and corrected a 50 year old error. Biden and his fellow congressmen and congresswomen gave women across America the finger when they and the Obama and the Clinton Administrations voted no to codify Roe V Wade into law. They say they will do it, then it gets dropped.
ReplyDeleteI did vote for Biden, but wasn't sold on him entirely. But if Biden allows this I will NOT be voting for him in any capacity.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he has just been in the game too long? If you let one in the hen house, they will want more. I like Biden but I question some of his moves and things he still has no addressed.
ReplyDeleteThere is no better example of term limits than Biden(79), McConnell (78), Pelosi(82), Waters(83), Feinstein(87), Schumer(70), Grassley(87), Leahy(80), Sanders(79), Durbin(76), Blumenthal(74).
DeleteDealing with Mcconnel need insurances first, he's a fucking liar
ReplyDeleteYou got that right.
DeleteTerm limits all around!! I haven't heard this before, but it seems odd.
ReplyDeleteI saw it break on Yahoo news first. It shocked me with Biden...but I'm used to it with Nancy. I hope this doesn't transpire.
DeleteSimply bizarre.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't trust McConnell on anything
ReplyDeleteI think Biden is dealing with the devil here.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the devil I mean The Turtle. There is no vacancy to appoint anyone else in Kentucky and it's a hypothetical deal and we have no idea what is being traded. Politics are tricky. And people tend to forget he's named 104 other judges (none in Kentucky).
XOXO
For some reason...some of your comments go into spam. I have to check it every time im in blogger anymore.
DeleteFuck you, Blogger.
ReplyDeleteOk, here we go again: There is most probably a hypothetical deal with the devil. And by devil I mean the Turtle McConnell. There is no vacancy to appoint anyone in Kentucky, that hellhole of a state. It's a hypothetical deal about which we know nothing about. Politics in America are tricky. We don't know what's been traded. Also, Biden has named 104 other lower court picks who are badasses. More than the last two presidents combined, I believe.
XOXO
Blogger drives me nuts certain days. I was a bit shocked to read this. I wish us Dems would support and back more progessives...at least we can work with them. I thinking there are a bit too many conservative dems.
DeleteTrue!
DeleteOh, Blogger is a bitch.
And I've been reading Alexandria Ocasio Cortez on social media. Quite rational and very on point. Yes, too many conservative Dems on the tickets.
And don't get me started with Sinema and that other idiot.
Ugh.
XOO
It gets much worse. He's opposed to the idea of expanding SCOTUS to 13 judges.
ReplyDeleteI heard about this yesterday. If Biden does this, he's toast. Striking a deal with Moscow Mitch is striking a deal with the devil. That MFer will stab anyone in the back in a fraction of a second. It's tie for the Dems to start searching for a 2024 candidate.
ReplyDeleteI do like Biden....but he frustrates me on certain issues. I do wonder if he will be a one term president.
DeleteNever. Trust. McConnell. Ever!
ReplyDeleteClearly Biden is cracking up; who in their right mind would make an agreement with the man who did Garland out of a job?
ReplyDeleteI had to read it twice to make sure I was reading correctly Helen.
DeleteWell, the terms of the deal are that Biden will appoint Chad Meredith, a conservative former Solicitor General of Kentucky who defended a state law to close Kentucky’s last remaining abortion clinic, in exchange for McConnell’s promise not block future federal nominations from Biden for the rest of the year.
ReplyDeleteLike you can fucking trust a word that come's out of McTurtle's piehole.
Oh Joe.
That is what worries me. That is fine, but you and I know he will not do as he says, not with this wild rampant GQP.
DeleteHow fucking stoopid. How many times do people, and particularly politicians, have to fall for the bait and switch from republicretins? They lie cheat and steal to get what they want and never honor their promises or deals because they just don't fucking care. STOP compromising with the enemy. They have declared war on democracy and liberty. Treat them like the evil poisonous demon snakes that they are and fight back with all your might, Biden. You owe us that!

I agree and worried if this goes through, it's like giving them more power. We have seen what happens per the SCOTUS. Im very worried for both parties. And the best people from both parties, don't have a chance, or just resign. What happened to the true politicians who could meet in the middle for the good of the people?
DeleteThis is a sad tale of a President who is not just a moderate but a weak leader. It’s a story of a man who makes decisions by counting the votes in the next election and, more to the point, takes the action that he believes will insure that he loses the least votes. The problem is that Biden’s “compromises” are not compromises of process, but compromises of values. If he were a strong moderate leader, he would stand strong on values, put up a good and unflinching fight and effect policies that strongly reflect particular values by compromising on the process and extent of implementation. If he actually believes in the right of choice, he should not do anything that undermines that value; if he doesn’t believe in the right to choose, he should just say so. But being middling, particularly when it’s not based on a commitment to values, is just a sign of weakness that no one respects. And who in their right mind would trust Mitch McConnell to abide by a political commitment, much less a secret commitment?
ReplyDeleteSo true. My late aunt always said this country has not seen a real leader, in any capacity, since Eisenhower, who, was the only President to actually tell the American people the truth.
DeleteThat is a joke. McConnell will never honor that. If Biden has done that he has lost my vote. These people are radical and terrorists and have no place in our government. Biden should not run for a second term anyway. He will be blamed for inflation even though it is not his fault.
ReplyDeleteI understand why people are mad in the US, but this isn't the whole story. Don't get me wrong, Biden still handled it poorly, but he isn't just doing it because he wants to. McConnel is blocking him from nominating a bunch of democrats to key positions. Thus nomination was apparently part of a deal to get McConnel to stop blocking those Democrat nominations. That said, he absolutely shouldn't have made this decision in secret. He should have at the very least publicly stated that he's being forced to nominate this judge against his will due to McConnels actions, and probably should have not nominated the person at all, and instead just publicly shamed McConnel for blocking his nominations.
