Brace yourselves...I may be back as things are finally settling. I feel as though I was gone forever. With the flower shop being crazy with two events and then Mothering Day, believe it or not, the busiest holiday for flowers... the move, getting the ancestral home settled, and some updates done, and bound to continue... and being in the gardens, it's been crazy. I was also able to get myself entrenched with the Cumberland County democrats to volunteer with campaigns trying to get Fetterman and Brian Simms to win their primary tickets. I will most certainly help Shapiro in the general election for PA governor. He and Simms... I would love that ticket. I must watch my mouth up here though. The R's are of a different variety compared to Bucks County R's. At least in Bucks, the R's are liberal and often voted D with the bigger ticket positions which would drive the rest of the state nuts. I can't believe how much red is here. I also got myself on the volunteer schedule at the local ASPCA like I was on down in Bucks County. Not a day goes by yet that I don't miss Bucks County, but it is also nice being back here too and reconnecting with old and familiar faces. I even had a very impromptu drag routine number for a restaurant here called Rubicon, who had a reservation night charity dinner in support of the Ukraine. The money raised, all sales that night went to support a Ukraine charity in that county that could be allocated as they saw fit. $32,000. Not bad for a one-night event. Unfortunately, I have yet to read any of my new books just yet. Hence this mood board. I hope it will inspire me to read a bit before bed....
Well, this certainly has inspired me to read more, as if I don't read voraciously already! Illustrations always add to the whole reading experience. Hugs, sweetie.
ReplyDeleteI figured you liked HARD bound!!!! Anne Marie would be proud!
DeleteThanks, Mads. I just had to sniffle a little. It's hard to believe that Anne Marie has been gone for almost a full year now. It feels like just yesterday. Some people have such staying power! I feel the same about you when you just go away for a week, let alone longer. Anyway, let's not drag the jahoobies. We shall perk up the best we can.
DeleteThere's no such thing as too many books; my problem is trying to find room for them. I hope you have room for yours.
ReplyDeleteAlas...many of mine are currently in storage till a bit further down the road.
DeleteAs Karl Lagerfeld once said "Books are a hard-bound drug with no danger of an overdose. I am the happy victim of books." Love this mood board, cool pictures, but even more happy to have you back!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love that quote!
DeleteI'd rather see you nude and reading!
ReplyDeleteBut the post for me is inspiring, some great ways to place books and more ways to get more in my apartment like the floor shelf at the foot of that bed. LOVE THAT. You have been VERY busy. You don't let any time waste getting involved in politics!!!! Good going. I love Brian Simms and only learned he's running for Lt Governor.
HA HA HA HA! Doesn't the Lad use your ass as a book stand much like the Tom of Finland illustration??? Setting up a whole new move and life is tiring isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHe did once use my butt as a laptop stand.
DeleteYou've been busy! Glad you're settling in!
ReplyDeleteWhere are you storing the Lumbersexual?
ReplyDeleteWell. Lets just say I say some trips to hang out together are on the horizon. He is sweet and told me that the neighborhood is already less colorful with my absence. I've missed you Jimmy
DeleteSMOOCH!
DeleteI'm very frustrated with Blogger (the little bitch). I hope this posts!
I too wondered about the Lumbersexual and the Lad.
DeleteAgnes, I'm sure he is having a well deserved rest.
DeleteWelcome back. I'll have to arrange for a bookcase with a shelf big enough to fit in a naked guy.
ReplyDeleteDon't waste your time at IKEA, they don't have them.
DeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI dream of having my own library after this post. So glad you back.
I love books. We do have a lot of books at home. It's not that I read them all... but someday I will! I hope... Have a nice day darling, can't wait to read more! xo
ReplyDeleteAmazing libraries! I love books! Banned or otherwise. So I love this post. Nice to see your getting your claws into Harrisburg.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder the sun is back...so is the Mistress!!!! Love this post and love those books! The pictures give me good ideas how to get more creative with my books on the shelf and ways to further house them. Now if I could just get a man on my shelf like that once picture....
ReplyDeleteI will miss Brian Simms down here in Philly if he gets the nomination and wins
First off, I never thought you may come back! I look forward to your post in your new hometown.
ReplyDeleteLoved this post too. I love books so much! I mean, I love to read but I also love just to look at them and be surrounded by them. Stories abound! haha get it? Abound. Should I stay quiet? And good on you volunteering. Two very good causes.
I think it's awesome that you're teaming up with the Dems there to help elect Sims (fans self). That is one beautiful man. And smart. And totally in sync with his constituents. And he's a feminist! I'd marry him, but with my past, that's impossible.
ReplyDeleteLove the books. I have a list of Banned Books I'm burning through this summer. I went and got my library card and I'm using the hell out of it.
Also, Blogger is eating my comments. Ugh.
XOXO
I know, he is quite easy on the eyes. I know he likes camping and I asked him once why he doesn't come to the Woods. DUH. I met him for the first time at a friend's fundraising for him. He is something. Alas.... here is another past.
DeleteMy fave book quote is from John Waters who said, "“If you go home with somebody and they don't have books, don't fuck 'em.”" He's right.
ReplyDeleteYou know, that just may be true. I "met" a guy once with no books. The sex was like watching paint dry dear.
DeleteThe 'liberry' is open, and the assistants are hot!
ReplyDeleteI think I need those READ letter bookshelves. How kooool.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you should invest in a lovely page turner. And politics up here? Outside of the city, MAGA red is very popular.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I may need to invest in a lovely muzzle in this here red area.
DeleteIf you do, make sure it has rhinestones.
DeleteI would totally read Divinerella.
ReplyDeleteHuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteI love your librarians out there.
OMG Mads, I got tired just reading how much you're doing! *Whew, panting...* You do have some hunky Librarians there, don't you?
ReplyDeleteNow you understand why my absence! I could still use a good lie in though.
DeleteI think I have about as many books as in these pictures. My life gets taken over by them some days I think. Welcome back babe.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Loved Divinerella. And, yes... read a damn book. Let's stop burning and banning and do what we're meant to do... use our minds for good, not evil. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteI agree!!! And if people are offended by a book, then don't read it. I can use my mind for good...but I need at least some evil time too dear.
DeleteTundra Bunny here... for some reason, I pictured you as having only one coffee table book: Kama Sutra For Gay Men, LOL! You've certainly hit the ground running in your new neighbourhood -- welcome back, Mistress Maddie, I've missed your blog!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I have several coffee table books. And your not far off Tundra! I also received your email per Debs...so feel free to email me anytime. mistressborghese@yahoo.com
DeleteThank- you Linda. I thought I would never return. And I still have some irons in the fire that may change things up again.
ReplyDeleteI love books and love spending time at my favorite bookstores. I buy them when I find them interesting. It's so good to see the books sit in my shelves. I just need more time to read. Do you use iPad to read books? I don't. I enjoy touching paper pages and flipping one after another. I love the smell of books and love to feel its weight on my hands as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes Mistress. Your fired up with the politics. I'm just plain disgusted.
Stunning! I wish I had a book-room!
ReplyDeleteThose books are AMA HAA ZING !!
ReplyDeleteNice to see you again !
I’m so happy you’re back. I love your new library. Hope those terrible Rs don’t show up to do some book burning. Sorry you have to be surrounded by that.
ReplyDeleteI know many dems, but it will be interesting living back here, where things are not quite as open. I've been spoiled.
DeleteGood to hear from you, Books sorted by color, look like books no one ever read,
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could be bothered to maintain that.
DeleteGlad to see you're back online. I hope the Reds out where you live now aren't the type I had when I lived in East County. Those were not well educated and clutched their Bibles and guns.
ReplyDeleteThese are mostly well educated...but still a bunch and of dumb shits.
DeleteI wish my books could look as pretty!
ReplyDeleteWell done on raising the money for Ukraine.
