MOOD BOARD

This post is hoping the Winter Queen hasn't given up. While I like summer hot and humid temps, I'm not ready to go from the cold of winter right into the temps of spring in the snap of a finger...as we are to have several days in the 60's this week. This weekend I had a small birthday celebration to go to in New Hope. While I had a good time, it was bitterly cold out and wanted to stay in in the worst way. I still want some more hibernation time. My friends say I'm nuts. Haven't you had enough of being in isolation??? Hell no! Winter is for snow, candlelit evenings, and layering up. I'm not opposed to one last blow out of a snow and ice storm to make all sit and stay in on their asses. But must say the birthday party was fun. What's not to love about birthday cakes?

    2. I am a carnivore for the most part, but I refuse to eat baby animals! I have on occasion, eaten teen-aged chickens. They deserved it.

    3. I feel Deedles bad about eating lamb. But Easter is the only time Ill eat it...with a delish creamy fete cheese sauce and fresh rosemary over it.

    4. No cheese! Just grilled or fried lamb chops, maybe a smidge of rosemary, cabbage, gravy and mashed potatoes - pure joy... Jx

    2. More like a cardigan as allegedly invented by an Earl of Cardigan, probably as apocryphal tale as the Earl of Sandwich inventing the sandwich!

    3. And I love eating a sandwich in a cardigan!!!!

    4. And I love eating a hot man in a cardigan!!!

  6. Those big horned sheep are so cool! And what's not to like about the ginger man?!?

I too enjoy winter and I'm not ready for it to go either...at least not over night.

  7. Blond cakes? Yes, please.
And I'm with you. I'm not ready for Spring quite yet. I don't want the temps to go from 16F to 60F in a week. No.

Only good thing is that when it's warmer I'll be able to stay away from people. Not even cakes make me like people in big groups right now.

    XOXO

I hate when we miss a season because it heats up to fast.

  8. That is a wonderful mood board! Especially that last picture. It reminds me of the village from All Creatures Great and Small. I love that show on Sunday nights. I also want some of that cake.

  10. Well, I'm a winter person, so you won't find any complaints from me with this board.

  11. I find your fixation with sheep - especially rams - a worrying development. Just saying.

  12. Your mood board is definitely reminiscent of the Yorkshire Dales, Mistress Maddie! Glad you enjoyed the season finale of "All Creatures Great & Small" too -- makes me wish it was Xmas again! I loved Trevor Herriott's books as a kid and wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up. Unfortunately, I was horribly allergic to cows, horses, cats, sheep and most animals except dogs and hamsters, LOL!

    1. I agree. I was all warm and fuzzy when I was watching it. I too wanted to be a vet for a while...but then realized I didn't think I could cut into a animal.

  14. Fabulous pics, mistress.
I'm done with winter. It's been nothing but grey, wind and rain. Bring on spring and summer!
I have been a very lucky girl. I am the proud owner of a Victorian style glasshouse, albeit much smaller. 10' by 8' it's going to be my very own Shangri La.

The white cake looks very inviting. May I ask what it is?

    1. That's sounds amazing Christina!!!! Is that like a greenhouse for your garden I presume? I would love to see it!!! That sounds like something to look forward too for sure. I'd love to hear the full story. I think the cake is just regular white and yellow cake with tons of whipped cream icing.

  15. Were those nakkid men pics the birthday presents?

I was at an 80th birthday surprise party on Sunday. I wasn't quite the youngest person there.

My mother had a 82nd birthday party to tend once...and she said they called surprise very quietly as to not shock the recipients heart!!! She is in shock she's is 72 herself

  16. Unfortunately that has been the way the seasons seem to have progressed the last few years: winter, maybe a week of Spring, then the heat of summer. I love the spring weather, temperate days and cool nights.

And I’m told you always bring your own cakes to the party, should the need arise.

  19. Perfect timing! We're getting a winter storm in a few hours, and just east of where I used to live it's going to snow. Tonight, the temperature is going to drop below 40 degrees so I'll have to be bundled up for the next few nights.

  20. Argh, dammit! I missed your birthday - again! Shit.
An artic chill is supposed to descend upon the majority of the country this week. You may get your wish for winter to hang around a bit longer.

  21. Every season has its perks: I love warm sweaters, blankets, hot cocoa, fires in the fireplace, crisp winter air, pretty white blankets of snow, and cuddling to stay warm. Enjoy it for what it is while it's here. complaining about it won't make it go away. Now, for a round of Patty Cakes (Daddy Cakes?) with those gentlemen friends of yours.
