GUILTY PLEASURE

More than any other food, I think chocolate delights and enchants...chocolate tantalizes, and it comforts. Just to show you how nuts I can be, I wanted to go into New York last week on my day off to get hot chocolate. It is as crazy as when Edina Monsoon from AbFab flew to New York just to get a doorknob she saw there. I have always been spontaneous like this. But the best hot chocolate I like and enjoy is by Marie Belle. And I was out. It also gave me an excuse to visit with MM#1 Fan and clan member Preston. Located in Soho, Mariebelle is a Parisian style luxury chocolate boutique. The blue colored walls and chandeliers offer a glorious backdrop to showcase the tasty treat that await. There is a huge range of products, but their hand-made ganaches looked most incredible and one must see them to truly appreciate their beauty and work involved. I could gaze on and on, and rave on and on, but the real reason to go was to go for the hot chocolate.  So once we met up it was off to the rear of the boutique to the Mariebelle Cacao Bar, a elegant little salon-style cafe. Truth be told before I had my hot chocolate, we enjoyed a tiered sweet and savory selections of sandwiches and desserts, and I got a lovely peach Bellini served in an adorable birdie vessel.  And Preston's dessert of ruby chocolate cream and raspberry gelato looked sinful.

Loved the wrapping on these candy bars.

I did have the hot chocolate... like drinking chocolate.

It was delish! I love most of their selections... Dark Chocolate, white chocolate with hazel nut, Aztec Spicy Chocolate. I have had them all,  and I like that they come in pretty tins. They stay fresh forever. And no way was I leaving without my favorite. I deemed it an utmost necessity for the cold winter nights still to come.

Later the views from the Brooklyn Bridge were worth the trip too.

How about you? How do you like your hot chocolate?

    1. There are like night and day. I like Hershey's, a bit waxy... but truth be told I have always been a Ghirardelli boy for everyday chocolate.

  2. I could spend a lot of money in MarieBelle. My current favourite chocolate is a caramelised white chocolate covering a peanut butter ganache - to die for.....from Misco's of course.

  3. I've had my hot chocolate for close to fifty years now, and I haven't killed him yet! The love is still there :) Seriously, I love chocolate in all of its many flavors and forms except extremely dark and white. Ooh, I love that view from the bridge! Painted on jeans are my absolute favorites.

  5. I agree with The Dame: I'd like chocolate on his back. And yes, I'd lick it.
And nothing, NOTHING like chocolate. That store is absolutely fabulous. I'd love to spend a few hours there. With the guy in the last pic, preferably....

  6. If I hadn’t already been craving chocolate! I just popped another Lindt bon bon in my mouth, and have added MarieBelle to my list for April. Tell the guy on the bridge to wait for me. I’ll help him across.

  10. Oh my, now you're speaking my language!!!! I love MarieBelle's. William and I have been, but I sure could use a visit there again. It was a delightful experience. I had a very rich, delicious hot chocolate and then bought a box of it in the boutique when we went. The staff were lovely and their teas are actually very good as well.

  11. WOW!!!!!! I can see how that is worth the trip. It all looks sinfully delicious. It reminds me of the Naked Chocolate Cafe that used to be in Philly. How I miss that place. Those wrapped candy bars are fun. Love the art of them.

  27. I'm not as big a chocolate fan as apparently most other people, often opting for other flavors when available. However, I do love a good, creamy, rich, hot cocoa on a cold day, delicious chocolate milk (Fairlife is my current favorite) when I want something sweet and wet, and a Chocolatini made with cocoa liqueur for a rich nightcap. And Resee's Peanut Butter Cups give me mouth orgasms. My LEAST favorite: the standard flourless chocolate cake as the go to gluten free dessert in most restaurants. AARRRGGGHH!
