My Love of Winter Scarves

I believe I may have a small problem with scarves my loves. These are just the ones above I wear on a regular basis. The two boxes on the right contains even more, and these aren't even the spring summer collection that's packed up right now. And at work this week the Mistress got a award and part of it was a $1500 shopping spree to the store. I already put back a stunnnnnning John Varvatos winter jacket, but since it's so sale and with my hand dandy discount, I still have more items to get and scarves might be one of them, although my co-workers are ready to send me to scarves anonymous." Hi, my name is the Mistress Borghese...And ...I have a small petite habit of ......collecting scarves!!!!!" And I have all kinds too, solid colors, stripes, plaids, fringed, tassel, and even two furs scarves, for my gayer days! I just think they really add to a outfit, and most men look hot and handsome wearing them too.Tell me why more men don’t take advantage of automatic sex appeal? Case in point.

Scarves are like dress shirts – every man can look good in one. So why don’t y’all wear them more often? Even if you live somewhere like Texas, there will be at least one opportunity for you to wear one during the year! European men wear them on a regular basis, but American men, not so much. And I say that as someone who grew up in a part of the US that saw at least 12 school snow days each year. The fact is, scarves make you look good. In fact, the right scarf can make the average man twice as hot. Seriously, you know I wouldn’t lie to you! The trick is wearing the right kind scarf – cos they don’t all have sex-appeal factor. The two ways I wear mine are

The European knot-

And the twice wrap-a-round, I call it. And this is one of my favorite scarves!!!

And here are some of the Mistress's tricks of the trade- and this isn't about penis size people!

Size Matters.

Long is good – if it’s too short you won’t be able to wrap it, and that’s where most of the sex appeal comes from. You want something you can wrap 2 or 3 times, and still have the ends able to reach somewhere close to tie-length.

Thickness Matters.

Get something with a bit of bulk, you don’t want something that looks like a roll of toilet paper. Mind, you don’t want to look like you’re wearing a neck brace, either, so don’t overdo it.

•Stripes and plaid work best.

Men look fantastic in a plain colored jacket, paired with a patterned scarf. Tartans look pretty good on most men, and stripes are practically guaranteed to look fantastic.

Colors are sexy.

A colorful scarf can really be charming. That said, you don’t need to have every color in the rainbow represented. Pick something with 2 or 3 colors, or 1 color with several shades. These tend to go with any kind of jacket you might have.

•Knots are sexiest.

Don’t ask me why, but the way a man ties his knot can really affect the overall look. Generally, a loose, fat knot just under the chin looks best. Alternatively, a firm knot that’s been wound several times can also look good, and can be worn at the chin or a bit further down.

•Proper placement.

If you’re wearing a jacket with lapels, a draped scarf should go under the lapels. If you’ve tied the scarf, they tend to look best tucked into the jacket, with a nice fat knot resting under the chin. If your scarf is a bit short, these look best tucked in, as well.

And the things I don't recommend are

.Paisleys. I don't know why but most men don't look right in them.
.Short scarves. If they are too short, they won't wrap around the right way and they look silly. It's as bad as seeing a man with a short tie he didn't do right.
.Loose woven yarn. It's just to much Free People looking, and the tassels shouldn't be longer than your palm of your hand.
.Extra long scarves. Those really long, colorful scarves with stripes, and go to your knees. Nope, they don't work and who wants to look like the original Doctor Who?

So go and make the Mistress happy by purchasing a scarf or wearing one today. And you know they come in handy in others ways too, wink, wink, Tootles!

  1. I have a few scarves...some short some long....and in fact my sister knitted me another scarf (and cap) for Christmas...I rarely wear scarves because I always thought they looked stupid on me. Maybe I need to reconsider. But I agree that the right scarf on the right man is hot!

  6. Scarves are great. Some guys may worry it makes them look a little too feminine but that’s just a preconception. I love wearing them, and you have alot! I also likes what's wearing them in the white!!!!!

  10. Scarves have become almost like affordable jewelry for the young and hip. They come in multiple patterns, colors, lengths, and encompass all of the necessary embellishments to add some fun to any outfit. I love getting up in the morning, getting dressed, and feeling like something just isn't right...then, adding one of the many scarves I own to complete my look--they always come in handy.
