It was a good weekend to get out and about. Friends of mine wanted to go antiquing and I thought why not? I never look for anything in particular but sometimes things will just jump out. I have really let my black belt shopping skills go since the pandemic, when we didn't really need anything, as we really couldn't go anywhere since places were closed. But this weekend between the antiquing and other places I did find some great clothing finds...but the Marketplace in Lemoyne has a interesting array of items. I hadn't been in, in some time. And again...some colored glass found its way home with me again, and two little vintage turkeys. Talk about some inspiring sights.

VINTAGE SHOPPING
My first score were these two amber vases for $15 for the pair.
It's never too late to keep abreast for one's skills and keep things fresh.
Two swell records to set the mood for my behind closed door times!!!! I love myself a Backroom Ballad
What finds!
Today has been pumpkin carving and clipping the last of the dahlias to bring in.
And without further ado....some Whipped Cream.

My mom was a huuuuge Herp Alpert fan. She played his records over, and over, and over again, so thanks for the offer, but I'm going to pass on the Whipped Cream.
ReplyDeleteHis music always puts me in the best of mood.
DeleteI love shops like that because you never know what you're gonna find, but you're gonna find something!!!
ReplyDeleteYou got that right. Who would have thought I would have found a book on 50 ways to eat cock for $3.95?
DeleteI can cheerfully spend a day nosing around antiques and junk-shops, and have quite a haul of choice "finds" from over the years. Just yesterday, I was trawling through the many charity shops up the road from us in Palmers Green, but on this occasion I came back empty-handed. The good thing about those sort of places is that they have such a huge turnover of stock that one never knows what will turn up on a future visit! Jx
ReplyDeleteWell I didn't get too many home items except for the few colored vases that I like, but when I went to the vintage clothing shop I actually made out really well. Almost too well. But even if I came home empty-handed at times it's always nice just taking a peek what's there.
DeleteI can't remember the last time I browsed around a vintage/antique store. I should venture out some afternoon and do so, just for the fun of it.
ReplyDeleteAs I was saying to Jon, sometimes I go not looking to spend any money, but it's just nice seeing what Little Treasures are out there.
DeleteI concur about places like this. It's been an age, but there is always something to find, or to bring back a memory. Those amber vases are very handsome. And what's not to like about the albums. I adore Herb Albert. In addition to great music, this album had one of the greatest album covers! Historic, memorable, and provocative.
ReplyDeleteI dare say Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass is almost prerequisite for a lovely Sunday evening.
DeleteI had no idea you had an instructional book? Well, if ever there was a cock connoisseur. A must read no doubt.
ReplyDeleteI know I know, but contrary to popular belief, I actually didn't author that book
DeleteI used to regularly go to antiques shoppes and I always looked for halloween things. I miss this. It was most fun in the fall or course.
ReplyDeleteThat was my one main reason to go yesterday, see if I can find any cute vintage Hallowe'en bits or bobs.
DeleteI LOVE the colored glass.
ReplyDeleteMeeeeeeeeeeee too!
DeleteTundra Bunny here... It's been years since I've rooted around in an antiques/vintage store... not that I need to as my cupboards and closets are already stuffed, LOL! However, this fact doesn't stop me from drooling over the glass pedestal bowls and crystal candlesticks without bobeche (picture #2), the silver jack o'lantern (picture #9), the trays of rings and your beautiful dahlia bouquets!
ReplyDeleteThere were some very lovely items to be had, I saw many a lovely hat which I refrained from buying. And I get the whole pack cupboards. Mind you I came home with some colored glass. Never mind most of my place is still packed in storage.
DeleteJust looking at the pictures I saw some things I'd want. But shops like this is where I got many of my Halloween decorations. Those albums are great!!!! Herb Albert!!! One of the most iconic album covers of the ‘60s.
ReplyDeleteI agree it's a great place to find vintage Halloween items, or any holiday really. I found two little lovely ceramic turkeys for Thanksgiving. I think they're actually little salt and pepper shakers.
DeleteBut the dahlias.....STUNNING!!!!!!!!!! I love thrifting and going antique shopping. Especially when you find great treasure for next to nothing. And you mean to tell me, all these years, there were more ways to enjoy cock?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteMore ways to enjoy cock? How long do you have? Meanwhile that's the end of our dahlias, in September and October they went insane, and got huge!
DeleteI could have gone nuts with all that glassware. My parents had that Herb Alpert LP. And, although I don't like to cook, I don't need instructions for cock.
ReplyDeleteThat's what words on the street says Mitchell!
DeleteThe last time I browsed an antique store, it was pre-pandemic. My childhood friend's parents were also big on Herb Albert, and I used to listen to it all the time. Great music!
ReplyDeleteHerb Alpert!
ReplyDeleteWhere is the sequel book? 50 Ways to Serve Cock? It's all in the presentation!
Sx
I think Jon still has the profile edit book to the sequel. No doubt still doing "research" .
DeleteThat Book, LMAO, and Ms. Scarlet's comment, we do need the sequel, it IS all about the Presentation. Glad you got out for some Retail Therapy too, are the Vases all you Scored while trawling the Town? *Winks*
ReplyDeleteThat does look like an amazing place. But 50 ways to eat cock? Why did I think that was autobiography?
