FOURTH

It's been so long since I had enjoyed a three day weekend because of the pandemic and not working, I'd almost forgotten what it felt like, but it's been so hectic with work and free lance projects, it's welcomed. Last week before heading home I did a window display for an antique dealers shop window...couldn't resist using the Boston Terrier door stops...and then took a peruse around his shop. Many modern Independence Day traditions stem from Americas early independence celebrations. It use to be quite common for the Declaration of Independence to be read aloud, followed by muskets and cannons being fired. It's safe to say the earliest of Americans celebrated the 4th of July loudly and proudly.

We are gathering with family, and the Lad at the Mothers for our 4th of July. While gin and Pimms poured yesterday, today will be a nice cook out on the grill, and getting buzzed on more Pimms Cups all around. No fireworks this year, although we may see them from the house anyhow.... but we plan to have a fire in the firepit.... and may light some sparklers if the mood strikes.

Happy Fourth of July!

Little Edie...always a holiday favorite.

  3. What an exciting post! The flags are all wonderful. Im loving the window you did...how fun and creative. I'm trying a Pimms later with watermelon in it today! William and I always loved Pimms. I think I can make it. I want to get rid of a basketball-size watermelon in a refrigerator that my neighbor brought me. I got sparklers for the grandkids when they come over tonight.

Have a Happy July 4th Mistress.

  7. The window display is of course inspired. I truly am in awe of your talents (DESIGN talents; I have no personal experience of your other talents). The writing, casting, and acting in Broadway’s Grey Gardens is something else that awes me.

  25. Happy belated Fourth.
Carlos played again with the Camden Community Band, after 16 months of lockdown and canceled performances and rehearsals. He was happy to be playing gain. They gave a concert for the 4th at the Kershaw-Cornwallis house here in town, outside on the back lawn beneath the crepe myrtles.
It was a lovely, peaceful small town holiday!
