JP!!!!!!! Oh how I miss you. I sure do hope you are doing fine and stay well. I often wonder and think of what stories and antidotes you'd leave for us to chew on.
I figured the shoes would be the go to popular answer. But Imelda...magic charisma and power. She charmed the world’s iron leaders with her beauty and wit, Imelda was more than just a trophy wife or her husband’s arm candy in state visits. In fact, she engaged in state visits all by herself (and her entourage). She met with various powerful leaders of the time like Chairman Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, Saddam Hussein, and Muammar Gaddafi. Enchanting and intelligent, she was perfect for the job. Fidel Castro, the late Cuban leader, once said that he only drove for two women: his mother and Imelda Marcos.
Your right. She was definitely one of the more powerful and involved first ladies of a country. For better or worse. And she didn't seem to fear anything.
Too many shoes.
