What a relaxing weekend! Not much going on today...except to say, because of relaxing, I'm behind in everything. The Lad departed to head home this afternoon, after we had some hose fun, and a wonderful 4th was enjoyed by all, even though my uncle par took of a bit too much on Pimms!!! I leave you with some snaps from the weekend! With some cut flowers, some flowers in the garden and something for our sweet tooth's. And we finally attracted a hummingbird! The sunflowers were brought from the Lad!
Some wild hollyhock from the Mothers yard.
With the heat and humidity...mushrooms are going nuts.
Two columbines that have finally did well after years of trying to get them to bloom.
Some excellent truffles form a candy shop in Lambertville I brought to the mothers to share.
And the urge hit me that I wanted an Angel food cake, contrary to y'all thinking it should have been a Devils food cake. Yeah, I got festive with with the icing. All I can add, is that it was good the Lad was present to help me burn some calories.
And then this popped up on my Instagram stories page....
So there was that.
Hope all had a nice holiday weekend?
Love the "Punk" cake - and of course, Patriotic Pam! Everybody needs a laid-back weekend - even if a little "hose play" gets in the way. Fnaar. Fnaar. Jx
ReplyDeleteIt was a great weekend...at least till the uncle fell out and took a cocktail take with him. But as they say, it aint a party till someone passes out.
DeleteYum cake!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, there's mushrooms EVERYWHERE. They redid the mulch and apparently the 'shrooms love it.
Glad you had a great weekend! Now I want some hose play.
XOXO
The hose play was refreshing and hot! I say go find a man and whip him with a wet hose till he's razor sharp!
DeleteI thought you knew, every little devil loves his angel food. And it looks tasty! Too!
ReplyDeleteSee, with me, there is a constant good and evil side......
DeleteWhat exactly is “hose play?” Never mind, I’ll let my imagination run wild 😜
ReplyDeleteWell, it was warm today, so we two boys had a water battle with the hoses. It quickly became a wet tee shirt contest...and then into the shed.......
DeleteSo multiple “hoses” were in play. That’s the way to end a weekend.
DeleteYour basic garden hoes.
DeleteI wonder if the plural of sweet tooth should be sweet teeth? It doesn't sound right, does it? I'm concerned about the arrival of Miss Delta. Elsa is on her way to my house and we've already had far too much rain. My pump and his hose are overworked. God, I miss Ann Marie. She'd have something to say about my pump and hose.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
She'd probably tell you-"Girl FUCKING pump that hose!"
DeleteLove the cake, sweetpea! glad your 4th was a delight. xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove Pam, as always. So festive. She looks... happy? Or has she already hit the glug-glug juice? Cake and candy and flowers... Wow. What a lovely life you lead. Well, honey? You deserve it. Good things should happen to good peoples... and you're the best, dear heart. Hope you had a lovely fourth (it looks like you did). Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteYes, there was a bit of glug glug I believe! And my lips look plump here after their exercises.
DeletePam Demic and Miss Delta Variant!!!! BWhahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDid some say hose fun? what kind of hose fun???
According to some recently deciphered Dead Sea Scrolls that are in fact long-lost pages from the Old Testament, devils food cake was originally angels food cake that was banished for eternity from Heaven's Bakery after a deceased gay couple from Sodom and Gomorrah asked that two grooms be placed on top of the cake. Furthermore, according to the long-lost first draft of Milton's Paradise Lost (some scholars think Milton was gay, incidentally), the most delicious devil's food cake can be found in Hell's Kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed some very delicious Devil Food "cakes" in Hells Kitchen, incidentally. I figured I'm going downstairs anyway....
DeleteHose fun? I was wondering if that was intentional or a misspelling. LOL!
ReplyDeleteNot that hose!!!! We were squirting each other with the gardens hoses!!!!!!
DeleteI have to tell you Mistress...this whole post I enjoyed, but I will tell you those perfect lips took my breath away of Pam Demic. And Miss Delta Variant? WHAT A HOOT! You two have your work cut out....
ReplyDeleteColumbine is one of my favorites...I never have luck with it either.
Sounds like a great holiday weekend. HOSE PLAY! Pam is quickly looking with style along the likes of Miss Richfield and Dina Martina.
ReplyDeletePam Demic is such a patriot. Did she get to play with a hose, too? That cake looks delicious and of course you could make angel food look sinful.
ReplyDeleteIm just one temptating nightmare getting people in trouble.
DeleteMy daughter loved sunflowers
ReplyDeleteThis is sooooo my mind of post. Birds, flowers, cakes and Pam!
ReplyDeleteI love it.
The hummingbird is wonderful. How big would you say it is? I know they're tiny but not sure just how tiny?
Very small...When we first spotted him...we thought it was a beetle flying around. They are apparently attracted to the many salvia my mother has.
DeleteThose sun flowers are glorious!
ReplyDeleteSx
That's quite the spectacular 4th of July angel food cake!
ReplyDeleteThe sunflowers! The cake! Everything sounds just wonderful about your holiday. I'm just now catching up on some blog reading, since I took the last few days off from the internet.
ReplyDeleteI getting ready for a break myself.
DeleteLovely flowers and a yummy cake -- was it a confetti Angel food cake? I'm sure the Misses Pam Demic and Delta Variant were the life of the cocktail party anyway, LOL!
ReplyDeleteA regular angel food cake but I did the colorful drizzle instead. Delta Variant might be even more sinful then Pam Demic.
DeleteOh! A hummingbird! I'd love to have hummingbirds visit the garden, but a hummingbird hawkmoth is as close as we can get over here. They'd love all the Salvias in Jon's Back Passage, though!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I did laugh when you mentioned "sharing" those truffles. Ha! I'd never share chocolates like those!
