GREEN ACRES

Some time last year, I tried my damnest to get Daddy Warbucks to buy a house here in Bucks County, since he used show up all the time, and he loves his time here in New Hope. But between his dismay of US politics with 45, and all politicians in general, and the pandemic, it didn't happen. He has already stated he wont move back to the US, after selling his properties. But I love and adore Bucks, which is located immediately northeast of downtown Philly. It is also one of the original counties created by colonial proprietor William Penn in 1680, named after the county, Buckinghamshire, where he lived in England. Our county is renowned for it's natural, countryside scenery, colonial history, and it's local produce, and arts colonies. And much of central and upper Bucks is land persevered, meaning no more housing developments and unused strip malls. And much re-purposing. It very unusual to see any chain of any kind , especially in Central Bucks over and into NJ near Lambertville. One most drive to Warrington or Montgomery Co, for those things. But I was driving to the ASPCA today and saw my house for Warbucks sold! God damn him! A steal too at only $2.3 mill! Which trust me, is a steal in this area. The home sits on a little over 11 acres,. When I moved here, it was still a working farm, with milking cows, and chickens. The first owners re-purposed the whole barn and it was spectacular. I told Warbucks...you snooze you lose. I could have stayed in it,  keeping it up, while you all visited, till he would come to visit. But I guess he's happy in my little pied de terre, on his arrivals. I love the warmth and exquisite hallmarks that make this home so cool and and evoke a sense of rustic and provincial style. These picture are from the realtor that listed it, after the owners had already moved.

  1. A disappointment! The Houseboys would have loved that place.

  2. I like it! Just enough red. I adore that odd looking phallic symbol on the outside. This would've been perfect for you, the houseboys, and the party people who occasionally take over the joint.

  3. When do you move in, dear? And when will the guest rooms be ready? Send word via messenger pigeon as I fear this line of communication has been compromised. PS... do you get allergic smelling hay? Also... beware of Alf and Ralph. Those Monroe Bros. They can do a lotta damage... Kizzes.

  5. That is so totally amazing. My girlfriend is commenting she doesn't like the furnishings. I told her that has noting to do with the house...look past I tell her. Some people just can't visualize without seeing everything.

Your county is to be commended with persevering land too I might add. We are pretty close to vacating Washington DC area. We're over it.

  6. That home is amazing! That is way too cool. One can hardly believe that it once house farm animals.

That's why I love Bucks County. Much of it doesn't allow big box chains, and too many housing developments... and what views. I like Philly, but when I come out I cringe in Montco. That county is way to built up and traffic sucks. I imagine years ago it too was nice, but now suburbia has killed that.

I say keeping working on Warbucks...

  7. You'd need farmers for all of that land, if you find houseboys a challenge, farmboys are twice as fun. You can keep them the silo

  8. Not bad. I'll live in that bathroom! Well, you'd have to move it all to Spain, because I'm not moving back there either. And now I'll be singing myself to sleep with that frickin' song. And I'll probably wake up singing it, too! Curse you!

  9. So you don't think Warbucks will ever move back? Maybe you should have taken a nude picture of yourself in the house for incentive Mistress? But the house?!?!?! GORGEOUS! It blows my mind what they can do with a barn...and that spiral staircase is so cool.

  10. Boy, if I had a laundry room like that, in a house liked that, I wouldn't mind doing laundry!!!

Lesson to learn, we need to re-puprose more often instead of just tearing down and taking more land.

  11. Home redesigns like this are one of my favorite projects to work on. And here is Brooklyn, it is much about the re-purposing. It is actually becoming very sought after here. I'm so glad that some areas preserve land like that. I could settle in Bucks County.

  23. Pretty spectacular. However, I don't blame Warbucks at all. The political climate here is frightening. If it was at all possible, I'd be outta here ASAP.

    1. I'm torn. If not for family, I think I would too. Warbucks offered to take me when he left. But then do I have the energy to learn a whole new lifestyle and country all over again? I would most definitely go stay with him for long periods though. It is food for thought.

  24. I love that old barn as a home! They did a wonderful job. Thats why I like the back roads of Bucks County. You see the most intresting homes and out of ordinary design while still being quaint. I've already told me daughter I need to move from this huge house. I would most likely love to move to Bucks. It's so much more me. I have had enough with Montgomery country and it's congestion.
