What a beautiful, inspiring day yesterday was. I dare even say, it was the most beautiful inauguration I've witnessed. A weight lifted, and much anger has left me. What I enjoyed the most , was that many of the people who have restored my faith in the country and politics in general, were altogether in one place. The President and First Lady, Joe and Jill Biden, Madame Vice-President Kamala Harris, President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Senator Amy Klobuchar. I have no problem admitting my bi partisan tendencies...and even loved seeing President George W and Laura Bush there. And while I was by no means a fan or even liked Mike Pence, puke, I was at least glad he had balls enough to come and give some sort of tradition to past along while his mob boss ran away like a little baby. But did anyone really want the dump there? If he did watch the news, Ill bet he shit himself. And it's why I adore Joe Biden. He even said we can't look at everything as them and us , red and blue. If we don't change our way of thinking, this isn't going to work. So today, I feature this post, a post of my favorite moments that got me and blew me away. I want to look back one day and see this post and remember the feeling. It was a glorious day. I had asked my neighbor, the lumbersexual if he wanted to come over and watch together, I made a great roast beef dinner and Yorkshire pudding and we had copious amounts of Pinot Noir in celebration.
Yep ...a gay guy and a straight guy? hopefully watching the unfolding of the back to normal , but new and improved United States. I even got a good chuckle when Briden asked "Why is JLo there?" I told him, "My mother told me, if you don't have anything nice to say, come sit by me."
Come on...how do you NOT love Bernie's mailman look?!?!
One on my favorite songs. It was perfect for the day.
My favorite pic is the one with Joe at the desk signing stuff! Yeah. GET TO WORK! Love the song, by the way... the original is one of my all time faves, too... It was a lovely day. Just grateful. It was nice to see Hillary. And the Obamas are absolute rock stars. Take care of your fine self. You and the lumbersexual... too fun. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteI like that version too Upton...I more partial to this version because of it's remix when I came out to clubs. The remix version....OMG!!!!!!!!!!! And many forget Michelle Visage sang with them.
DeleteI loved the diversity. All kinds of Americans taking part. A great day.
ReplyDeleteEven Bernie!!!
Thank you Mistress. I'd been scouring the net, looking for photos of the event (mostly to get a good look at who wore what). Your coverage is the best. That tear in Biden's eye is everything.
ReplyDeleteIt was a wonderful day!
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
"Cold Bernie" is now a viral meme!
ReplyDeleteThat cracked me up Debs. Lady Bunny has been relentless with memes from yesterday.
DeleteDid not miss Dump at all. I did notice that piece-of-shit Thomas was missing, which didn't bother me. either - though it was mentioned by the commentators.
ReplyDeleteGaga did a great job. But that dress. And that dove. #amiright? JLo, too. The end of the evening celebration with Katy Perry was gorgeous, though! A beautiful way to end the night. Hugs!
Beautiful, indeed! 💗 And Gaga's there, too. 👏🏻
ReplyDeleteAnyways, it's a start of somethin' new! ✔
Yes, it was perfect in every way!
ReplyDeleteHe's certainly not wasted any time [nor even played any golf!]. Achieved more in his first day than his predecessor did in four too loooooooing years.
ReplyDeleteI'm just waiting for some idiot to say "Hah! I had a much bigger crowd for MY inauguration!" Now I wonder what kind of idiot would it take to say something like that.......
I just want to know if he trashed Air Force One on the way down to his tawdry Palace of Glitz?
DeleteRaybeard and Helen, I myself was thinking, it's a shame the plane, when on it's way to Florida, didn't go by way of the Bermuda Triangle..
DeleteWhat a great collection of photos! I love the one of Biden with a tear falling down his cheek! It was a wonderful, memorable day and I'll remember it as long as I live. I feel hopeful again. And like you, I loved seeing the bipartisan support and civility on display. I hope we can make a new start in this country, united again in our resolve to be better.
ReplyDeleteI drank far too much last night, and woke up with a headache....but oh, was it worth it!
Did you ever go do your flashing dear? Or did you save it for Greg?
DeleteJust in case I haven't told you,...I have a HUGE cybercrush on Brian Sims.
ReplyDeleteGaga is such a talent.
ME TOOOOOO honey. I have had the pleasure of meeting him several times. He is so sweet and he can fill out a bath suit very nicely.
DeleteYou posted all of the very best moments of the glorious day!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Miss Kim....and welcome! Thanks for stopping in today.
DeleteFirst of all, is that Michelle Visage? *dies*
ReplyDeleteSecond, YES! OMG I was so fucking emotional yesterday. I cried, I danced, I talked to myself and I told EVERYBODY to go watch the livestream. I almost had a cow when Gaga started singing and I was in a meeting. It took all my strength to not excuse myself and go watch her. JLo surprised me by actually singing. Who knew? And she drove the knife in far when she recited the pledge of allegiance in Spanish. I cackled.
I take that when Uncle Joe talks about 'unity' it means following the philosophy that created this country and its laws, not letting the Repugs and fucking Cheeto go scot free. I hope they all get their comeuppance.
Also, your lumbersexual likes wine? My kind of straight man!
XOXO
TIS Michelle Visage, after her stint with Seduction. She tore the vocals up in the remix hunny of this song too. The walking away from this is still in the back of my mind too. I sure hope the dump and two others, will be held accoutable.
DeleteYes. I was much too joyous to watch myself so I invited lumbersexual in. Did we ever sink the wine. Today was ugly.
the INTELLIGENT ADULTS are now in charge! I feel so light and free today. it's like clinton & obama & biden have all come together to guide us as a country.
ReplyDeleteIt was such a change to see reds and blues chatting and laughing with one another - even Mother and Pennies from Heaven seemed to be getting on well with their replacements. If you didn't know his pre-history Kevin McCarthy's speech at the gift giving seemed pleasant and appropriate. Knowing what we do know it was just hypocritical.
ReplyDeleteI think your right Helen. It will be back to business soon enough. I think the picture of the Harris's and Pence's will be a very historic moment caught in pictures, as will the one of the Biden's and Harris at the reflection pool at night.
DeleteFabulous - absolutely fabulous - post! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat great images!!!! The one that shocked me the most was Katy Perry. Katy is such a performer! It was perfectly fitting to have her end the festivities. Those fireworks were amazing. She looked beautiful and you could see the honor on her face. I also think that picture of the Harris's escorting the Pence's was not only historic, but says a lot, that they could all put their feelings aside and go with tradition. It take a strong people to do that.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good day! They should do virtual all the time. You had the only picture of Mayor Pete I've seen. I kept looking for him. And has you know, I am no fans of the Clintons, but even I admit she looked good in her, god love her, pantsuit. It's cool when they can all come together. But let's face it...the big fashion winner was Michelle Obama
ReplyDeleteWhat a cathartic and special moment to see the hope that American is truly now on the path to be great again. That made me cry. And I live in New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful images!
ReplyDeleteSo very pleased for America and indeed, the whole planet. X
💓💓💓💓💓
DeleteI'm just happy to see you returning back to your sweet side, Mads. I've missed your smile (metaphorically speaking). Hugs.
ReplyDeleteIs it like the softer side to Sears?
DeleteOh my darlin' Mads, I would never, ever use your name and Sears in the same sentence!
DeleteI used to get all my bath towels from them. But we've haven't had a Sears around these parts for years now.
DeleteGreat images. An amazing day. All those adults!
ReplyDeleteExcellent pictures Mistress!!!! I just want to give a shout out to Amy Klobuchar for putting together an amazing, moving inauguration under so many dire circumstances. To see the President, Vice President and their family's walking down Pennsylvania avenue gave me hope for the future.
ReplyDeleteI was seriously concerned until AFTER the very last moment that Trumpists would pull something on the way out. I know there are no magic wands available, but I do feel so much better with the orange one out of the way.
ReplyDeleteThe FIELD OF FLAGS is beautiful and moving I thought. Great images. Yannick wrote a very moving letter to President Biden and V-P Kamala Harris, and shared it with us. He still amazes me with he learned so quickly and grasped English. He's so eloquent.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures remind me America can be beautiful, diverse, and dare I say it? Great again.
ReplyDeleteNo. I want America to be better than it was before. We all deserve that after surviving the last four years.
I guess I'm already dead since I thought JLo looked gorgeous (high-waisted pleated pants!) and sang beautifully. FYI- I have never been any kind of a fan of hers. Nancy Pelosi, overlooked, did just fine too. Her coat & dyed to match heels kind of made me cum.
ReplyDeleteAnd like my dearest pal, mrpeenee, I thought shitstain would pull something, but instead he told everyone "to have a nice life" and surprisingly, “the best is yet to come.” You'd think he was a psychic.
No i think I'll did look good. Chanel I believe. She looked better then I'd seen her in some time. And Nancy almost matched Dr Jill. I couldn't find a nice picture of her by herself.
DeleteIm was hoping his plane would have gone by way of the Bermuda Triangle to get to Palm Beach.
We now have someone who have interest in ALL Americans.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
What lovely pictures!!!!! We all watched from here in Europe as well. When i lived in the states I have been Republican and then was a Independent. In all my life I have never hated or been more appalled by someone or a party, like rrump and the republicans. But then I never did like the bastard since I first heard of him. My friend there always bitches about all of it but doesn't vote. I tell her all the time, she has no right to say anything if she doesn't vote. She probably really salty and shabby now I bet. If she liked the dump then she should have voted.
ReplyDeleteI have a cousin, who is the same. And they know then to say anything to me if they didn't vote. How can you bitch and complain if you didn't cast a vote??? She supposedly too liked trump, but didn't vote for him...so she couldn't have been a fan to much if she didn't vote.
DeleteAll I can offer is I hear the stench is gone in DC and the air quality is already improving......
ReplyDeleteI was a little surprised that Yvette kept the hold drapes in the Oval Office. But it was a spectacular day overall.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get to watch it. I cannot turn on the television during the day because I am homeschooling two boys. At lunchtime, I brought up fb on my phone. Connie Schultz posted: "Trump is no longer president of the United States." I was shocked at myself. The tears came, and I couldn't even stop them. Later, when I watched the evening news, I cried some more. I am SO glad he's gone. I hope to never see his face or hear that voice again.
ReplyDeleteIs is a surreal moment. And to the contrary of many it had nothing to do with democrat or Republician. I know both from many parties found him vile and glad to be rid of him. He was just so vile and disrespectful, and used the country and democracy as his litter box. I think we will all remember where we were when we heard those words and happy tears coming.
DeleteIt was a great day indeed and you could feel the millions of households breathe a collective sigh of relief. I was nervous as the first family left their cars and walked to the Whitehouse, but glad my worries were unfounded. Great post and pics!

That's for stopping in by dear. Yes...I believe your right. Even my republican friends are glad he's gone.I told them to re register.
DeleteI've seen thousands of memes featuring Bernie Sanders and his gloves! he started a fashion!
ReplyDeleteLol!!!!! I know. Isn't it funny!!!! And I hear he is getting a kick out it.
DeleteIt was a glorious day, off to a good start. Lady GaGa's dress, it looks like she was cold so they wrapped her up in the extra draping. Dramatic, yes - but boy did she have to suffer to look good?
ReplyDeleteFor me it was the best inauguration ever because I used to take the transfer of power for granted. Now I realize how precious democracy is.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Enjoy it now...because at the rate this country is going it won't be here long.
DeleteSorry I'm late. I think my favorite moment was Lady Gaga looking up at the flag.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it, but from your selection of photos it looks like a British Royal Wedding or Coronation, except without the hats and gold-encrusted coaches. What a day!
ReplyDeleteWe almost did. We know trump would have loved to have had some golden coaches.
DeleteI don't usually watch nor enjoy Pomp and Circumstance but I sure did enjoy this lovely inauguration and it was cause for much Celebration and Hope! I'm glad the Fucker wasn't there, it would have ruined everything, tho' I don't like Pence either, he at least has enough sanity and decorum to know how to conduct himself after a loss Politically. It can't be easy for him knowing his Boss tried to have him lynched and hanged! I'd be out for Blood, but then, I'm a vengeful Bitch like that if you were to come for me.
ReplyDeleteRight!? It's impossible to not love Bernie's mailman look. Heck, it's impossible to not love Bernie. That day was a beauty.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this wonderful compilation of pictures, MM. xx
