DAME de HAVILLAND

...turned 104 last week on July 1st!!!!!
I can't tell you how this picture tickles me. I just adore it and her. THIS is a lady and dame still loving life, and isn't ready to give up. Many more returns to her!! I also love the bike. That basket would come in handy on gin runs.

A tip of the hat to my dearest Jon, from Delores Delargo Towers  across the pond for sharing it.

  9. While she is elegant and classy and, yes, feisty, I think of her as a tough old bird ... in the best way possible.
    Happy Birthday, ma'am!

  11. I have a bike like that! The basket is great for carrying small dogs. I'm glad that death announcement was a hoax.

  13. 104-years-young and still out riding her bike? Good on her. I feel like that will be my wife, and will have either been dead for 30 years by then, or hunched over, drooling, and not knowing who anyone is. And watching Pornhub.

  16. She was a first class lady and still is!!!! I too was tickled beyond belief to see this photo instead of a seeing a star in decline or propped up with strings or bed ridden. She is such an inspiration.

  17. They sell adult trikes, with electric motor assists, for carrying that extra heavy load of gin back to the casa, or for careening around corners on two wheels.

  18. Woman was such a bitch! Giving Joan and Bette a hard time for smoking and drinking and (in Joan's case) sleeping with anything that moved. Ah. I adore, her. Love her in Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte... And that one where she gets trapped by a bunch a hippies in an elevator... and, of course, The Heiress. Well, she out lived them all... pious bitch. Good for her.

  20. This boy fell in love with her kind eyes and wonderful voice at the movies, when GWTW was re-released in 1959. Thanks for the photo --in these dark times, we need to see her pretty face again.

  21. She looks fantastic and I'm ashamed to say I had an Adult Tricycle like that one and almost fell off of it so I had to Sell it! *Blushing... I mean, who falls off a Tricycle and risks breaking a Hip!*
