A relaxing weekend for the most part....and yet again it still flew by! A good weekend to stay in... what with steady, soaking rain all day Saturday, followed by strong gales all day yesterday and into today. Clip those wigs down girls!!! Then add into the time change. As no surprise, didn't watch the Oscars, seldom do, instead I had a birthday dinner for the Mother with my uncle and two of her nieces, and the visiting Lad. I lovely dinner, followed by a nice lounge on the sofa reading and listening to some jazz. It was one of those nights. For reading, wine, candles and music. Shut the world out.

Lots of pretty things to spend time with.
ReplyDeleteBook dresses!
ReplyDeletelove books!
ReplyDeleteLots of things to peruse while staying in on a wet day, eh?
ReplyDeleteAnd one thing in particular!
DeleteDoes anybody actually watch the oscars?
ReplyDeleteYep. 'Course, we preface the telecast by watching every film with a major nomination.
DeleteNothing better on a cold, blustery day than good food and good drinks with good people, then snuggling down with a good book and good music.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the cock.
DeleteWell, I thought that wenbt without saying. LOL.
DeleteThe tulips! I'd love some like that. I've planted yellow ones in my pots this year. It will be another 6 weeks before they flower. It's still very wintry here. X
ReplyDeleteI tell you to here Christina it doesn't know whether it wants to stay cold or warm up. We have been warm but then the temps dropped over the weekend with all the rain and this morning it was colder than a witch's tit in a metal brassiere! And the strong Gales we currently have aren't helping.
DeleteLove those shelved books, especially the top pic. I'm a biblioholic!
ReplyDeleteI surmise you probably invented the word.
DeleteA very lovely post!
ReplyDeleteA lovely collection of images as always! I'm glad you had a nice time with family and a comfortable weekend. I too had a pleasant weekend; nothing particularly exciting, but no high drama either. I think some people could benefit from learning to appreciate the stillness between drama and excitement.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more with you Melanie. Society anymore feels the need to be doing something every minute. I have no problem enjoying the Stillness as you say.
DeleteLovely, sweetpea! Cheers to your Mama! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAh, the comfort of books, cake, and chilling out - and the occasional totty thrown in for good measure! Jx
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be a weekend for me if I didn't do at least a little Shimmy Shimmy and give the boys a little bit of the what what.
DeleteShameless trollop that you are! Jx
DeleteWell this mood board certainly reflects me today. I'm exhausted. I had my daughter and son and grandkids here this weekend. And I just adore Colin Firth. What movie is that from? I too didn't watch the Oscars either. As a matter of fact I don't think I've seen a year of the Oscars since the late 90s I generally watch the entertainment shows for a recap of the fashion. I though Billie Ellish looked amazing while keeping her broody style.
ReplyDeleteThe first picture sums me up today. Reading and relaxing? How much could you have done of either if the Lad was there???
ReplyDeleteTotally forgot the Oscars were on. Im bad. I usually might watch an hour of them if we're home. Didn't even see any of the movies. Behind working and traveling there hasn't been much time to see movies.
Tundra Bunny here
ReplyDeleteI did nothing exciting at all this past weekend, but I also woke up exhausted this morning... I look very much like that yawning dog every morning until I get my first cup of coffee. Sometimes I skip the cream and just put a big scoop of Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream into very strong coffee for a kick-start to my day, LOL!
I haven't watched the Oscars since Julia Roberts won Best Actress for "Erin Brokovich", who couldn't act her way out of a wet paper bag, IMHO. In the 80's and 90's I used to enjoy renting or going to see all the best picture nominees in theatres before Oscar night. For the last 20 years, there just haven't been many movies that looked interesting enough to see, let alone pay a small fortune to see them in a theatre, so I just wait until they're shown on TV.
I too have put ice cream in coffee before! What a treat. I really don't see any point in award shows. Who's to say one is better then another??? Everything has to be over thought. I just enjoy movies and music and could care less how many awards any has. If I'm entertained or enjoy your music...job accomplished. Plus it feels to me nothing more then a popularity contest and a reason for stars to inflate their already staggering fee. They act...they're not curing cancer, finding medical break throughs, or saving the world. I will never understand why sports figures and celebrities are paid that much.
DeleteI did watch the Oscars while putzing around the house. They were ok. I cackled at times and drooled over John Cena.
ReplyDeleteI love that movie gif you posted. It's A Single Man, right?
And staying in and reading and listening to music? A MOOD.
XOXO
Yes, A Single Man, one of my favorites. Julianne Moore never looked more chic, and I would have enjoyed immensely being between Colin Firth and Nicholas Hoult getting spit roasted!!!
DeleteI own this t-shirt with the saying on it " Public Libraries: Grooming Bibliophiles since 1855"
ReplyDeleteThat would make for a excellent tee shirt.
DeleteLovely Mood Board today...nothing like books and watching Colin Firth watching a young Nicholas Hoult stripping. Oh lala.
ReplyDeleteOne day, I'm going to have a bookcase like these. It was the prefect weekend to stay in that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteThat dog waiting for his coffee cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. And I love those argyle socks.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I didn't even notice the socks.
DeleteNow that is fashion, dear.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely night, indeed.
