The weekend wasn't a complete wash out. While we did have cool temps and rain yesterday, the sun did come out late in the day. I got my lamb ordered at the market for our Easter dinner next week and made a batch of hot crossed buns for breakfast yesterday. A very nice dinner out last night with the Capitol Street Duo as it also gave us time to plan a beach get away this summer, which at the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky to be around much. Luckily today was nice out, I had some time to do some more garden clean up, get some fresh air, and burn a bunch of fallen twigs and branches. I hadn't been out in a couple days this week, so I was amazed what has finally opened and is in bloom. The forsythias and hellebores never disappoint as early bloomers along with the grape and traditional hyacinths. Nothing says spring is here like the whiff of hyacinths. I suspect the tulips won't be far behind.
After a good day in the garden, I think we could use some Shirley Scott Trio to wind down to with a cock-a-tail for the weekend.
. Shirley Scott, Queen of the Jazz Organ. Hoedown. Really Mads? Such filth alongside such beautiful flowers! Oh, you probably are referring to the garden tool. Sometimes my imagination takes odd turns.
ReplyDeleteOf course, a hoe! Not me by any means!!!! Finally...someone who is familiar with the Fabulous Shirley Scott Trio!!!!! Her music sets the mood girl.
DeleteI was thinking a hoe using a hoe! But you're a lovable hoe Mistress.
DeleteMs Agnes, all hoes are lovable for a price, or so I hear. But you're right. Mads is loveable in or out of hoedom.
DeleteHyacinth has one of the most intoxicating scents of the whole of springtime! Ours (former indoor, forced bulbs) unfortunately have so little light these days that only one bloomed this year - and quite pitifully.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, Spring is always worth celebrating! I love it. Jx
I'm enjoying it. It seems once it starts, it starts to go quick! Once the flowering bulbs are done, we have the next batch of flowering spring flowers and all the glorious tress, like Eastern Redbud, Magnolia, Dogwood and the Weeping cherry's and Crabapples.
DeleteSuch gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteYour spring has definitely sprung!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous gardens and Cardinals ... my favorite bird. I love when they come back to our yard.
You know Bob, when I cardinal appears in your yard, if means a passed on one is thinking of you supposably.
DeleteI've heard that and think of that when the cardinals come back.
DeleteI think these early spring flowers are some of the most beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGardening and cocktails, what more does one need?
ReplyDeleteYour garden is absolutely stunning. Xx
Signs of spring, even what so far is a cold spring.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely !
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how fast things grow when you are not looking,
Your garden is the very epitome of Spring. I love Blue and yellow together at this time of year and your hellebore is a lovely colour form too.
I bought some indoor hyacinths earlier in the year to make sure we did not miss out on their divine perfume
It is quite amazing. One day nothing. Two days later everything is blooming.
DeleteMy Tulips are about to bloom - despite the awful weather and gloom. Lovely to see your Springtime garden.
ReplyDeleteSx
Glorious gardens and colors and Shirley Scott, what more could I ask for?
ReplyDeleteA great spring bloom and plans for the summer, a good weekend.
ReplyDeletelove your garden!
ReplyDeleteHellebores are one of my favorites...and damn expensive to buy if you get them in a floral shop. Spring is starting to happen quick and your right...miss two or three days in the garden and a lot can happen in that time.
ReplyDeleteYou also got great taste in music... the Shirley Scott Trio !!!!!!!! They set a MOOD for sure.
The Trio is a blast!!!!
DeleteMuch to cool here yet for to many blooms, so I will enjoy your color and garden for now. I hope P- Town is on that list?!?!?!?!
ReplyDeletedoes this mean you're working five whole days this summer? love the boids.
ReplyDeleteBitch.
DeleteGlorious!!!!!!!! I never had luck with Hellebores at the house. They are lovely too. I just adore spring and these pictures brighten a mood. And I wasn't familiar with Shirley Scott as thank you for bringing her to the forefront.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if Hellebores would do well in your beach locale. I know I've seen them in Rehoboth Beach already.
DeleteOur plants are not flowering yet.
ReplyDeleteSome trees and some bulbs are out, though. I can't wait.
XOXO
Where is she, and what's she down for? All kidding aside, I love the garden pictures and that tune would make even me and my left feet dance.
ReplyDeleteI've been on a Shirley Scott Trio kick lately. And you know THIS hoe is down for anything!!
DeleteWell, Winter surged again, here. Windy, cold, and a little more rain. ...sigh...
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny I don't think of you guys as having a winner or getting cold. Although I did know Arizona deserts can get very cold at night.
DeleteI appreciate the impact your blog has had on my daily routines. Stay updated with the latest news and updates about the Aviator game on our blog.
ReplyDeleteLovely hellebores; sadly mine are over now. The forsythia is still hanging on, while the magnolia stellata is suffering from endless rain. But the tulips and the muscari are in full bloom, as are the primroses and anemone blanda and the pear tree, not to mention the narcissus, the snow flakes and other stuff.
ReplyDeleteGlories pictures.....you certainly got the green thumb.
