  1. Same here! What a true Queen! I'm going to miss her bright outfits with matching hats. RIP.

  2. Betty Windsor certainly had an amazing life. Sad, though, that she could never write a book about all that happened.

  3. Nothing can, nor will, be the same again. She is the only monarch most of us in the UK, or any other Commonwealth country where she is head of state, or indeed the world, has ever known. Now she has gone. We are bereft. Jx

  4. I will miss her steadying presence on the world stage. She was true to her calling, and faithful in her duties.

This is the passing of an era. It's the passing of the old guard. The Queen represented a certain stability and foundation that her heirs simply won't ever match.

  5. She embodied class, grace, and dignity.

  6. I think about how my grade school teacher, Miss Chrisswell, yes way back then, set up a small television (black and white) in our homeroom class to broadcast the Coronation of Elizabeth. She said it was an event that we might not see again. It wasn't a history lesson, per se, but it sure turned out to be true. Condolences to all those in the UK.

  7. Now there are so many queens ready to take her place! I am rather surprised by how solemn everyone is about this passing. The Ex said it will change the entire world. I'm like... 'really?' Well, it will be interesting. She had a lovely run. Wishing you the best.

  8. It is very sad

On another note, I'm glad Charles is sticking with his real name instead of the proposed regnal name George vii

  10. It feels very strange to think of the world without queen Elizabeth. Shes been the queen longer than many people have been alive. Even though we've known this was coming, the thought of king Charles feels odd. We can critique the monarchy and the queen for this or that but now is not the time. Now is the time to reflect on the great things she did and how she represented the royal family.

  13. Black? You do know she'd rather you mourn her wearing mauve, or teal, or perhaps buttercup yellow.

  15. After a lifetime of work, she can finally rest, but she will be sorely missed.

  16. Considering the public appearances, she was able to attend recently you gotta admire her strength. Let’s hope the next generation has half that strength

  17. A long life, a quick death without a long period of suffering, and a legacy respected worldwide. She did it well.

  18. While it doesn’t really affect us here in the states, it is still a somber day. May the queen Rest In Peace.

  19. Even though the age of monarchies is probably passed, you have to give Elizabeth II props for a lifetime of service. A job well done for a person who was not supposed to be Queen.

  20. I was shocked when I saw the photo of her with Liz Truss. The physical decline in the last week's since the last picture of her was strikingly obvious.
Working until the end. No messing about. Get things done, even dying.

I have nothing but respect for her. My queen. May she rest in peace.

    I'll miss the Queen.

When I was little and visited my grandmother in England, my she kept china at the back of the cabinet that nobody could touch. In case the Queen came by for tea.

It's only slightly less likely now. 🤔

Having a cup for both of them.

  23. This from the opposition:

“Above the clashes of politics, she stood not for what the nation fought over, but what it agreed upon."

That right there is the kind of leader WE need. Someone who represents the best in us, who rises above the noise and doesn't take sides. Someone who can unite us by our similarities rather than divide us by our differences. Both out parties need to take note.

Being as divided as we are, no president, these days especially, can take a stand on any issue without upsetting half the country. The Queen avoided this by standing for ideals, traditions and principles rather than standing for party, platforms and legislative attempts; the epitome of bi-partisanship and Independence as it were. It's the only way to go. Each new President we get will only be undoing everything the previous President did. A vicious circle.

Bless the Queen as she reunites with her husband. May she rest in peace.

  26. I nearly died (figuratively); I went into the vets to pick up Wolfie's arthritis medication and there was a pic of HM and one of the assistants was pinning a black bow to her navy uniform and wondering whether the black bow would be seen again the dark navy! As if there weren't more important things to worry about than that one old lady is dead. Not to mention trying to fund a state funeral and coronation when there's no money in the bank to help the poor feed and heat themselves.
