Our government.... yet again with two issues.
I'm all for helping other countries in need, but when do we shut off the money... and how is it possible to come up with all this money "all of a sudden"??? And when does this money "All of a sudden" start to help with things here??? There is a loooong list that money could be doing good for. Feel the heat and imagine that you have no clean water to drink or bath with. This is what Jackson has been going through for 9 days now, with no end in sight. I feel as though we're becoming a third world country, while every other country gets as much of our tax money as they want to fight unwinnable wars. 82% of Jackson is black and 53% of Flint is black. Look at all the politicians who pander to black voters with Juneteenth and Ketanji Brown and the first black VP. None of this cost the powers that be one dime. But when the shit hits the fan for impoverished communities of color, no one has the answers and feet get drug. I just see too many issues here that need money. Can we love ourselves first, then spread the wealth? Which leads me to ....
Monkey pox!!!!!
I think the CDC and the government best get on the same page. Biden has said that he sees a rise on Covid cases, like 100,000 in the fall. Yet going into the fall we are lower than ever on vaccines and the same with Monkey Pox. When the vaccines first came out, they were saying we needed 2 doses of the vaccine. But now as a country we have so few vaccines for monkey pox, that they are now offering us 1/10 of the two doses they originally claimed we needed for full protection. Too many mixed messages. And that's if you can even find a place offering them. I talked to one friend who got the doses by lying. saying they had several sexual partners in a 14-day period. So, I'm not eligible because I haven't had that many sexual partners since the Covid hit. All these years I lied about being less of a slut sleeping around, and now I have to lie and say I'm a bigger slut then I am- to get a vaccine!!! But joke aside...why are we waiting to ramp up vaccines??? I sure hope this doesn't go the way of other issues I still would like to see get addressed. I guess it will be back to the hand again.... if I can hold out. Just like healthcare. Why not universal healthcare or Medicare 4 All? Why does it seem every other country miraculously manages to afford something like it, if not better? See what happens when I don't get sex regularly. I get stabby.
If even, we aren't having sex that says something. I think we are going to be waiting some time for the full vaccines. So what's the plan Mistress?
ReplyDeleteThe plan? We pressure the politicians to get what we need in a health emergency which they declared. They need to act like it's an emergency which I don't see. Take NYC the hardest hit. They won't even see vaccines till October in numbers.
DeleteA shame. Not only that but what else the US does. They have bailed out every major company- banks, airlines, car makers- who all made disastrous decisions, shit all over their workers and boosted dividends for shareholders and c-suite bosses. The war is just a way to keep the warmongering companies in business. I don't recognize the US anymore...so much greed and consumerism.

We apparently can't supply basic needs .....but we're helping with money for all these others countries. Priorities are so askewed and wayyyyy off here.
DeleteNothing wrong with helping other countries (although the help we give some specific countries scares me). But we should certainly be able to afford to help those in need in the US, as well. Oh, but wait, THAT would be Socialism!
ReplyDeleteI think the money to Ukraine is a loan - a bit like the loan that the US gave the UK for WW2 - we only paid it off in 2006! The US will get the interest etc, and has Ukraine in its debt - but yeah, gets me too about all these funds being suddenly available.

And by all means...I think we should be helping the Ukraine....but I find it interesting when it comes to war....the money is there yesterday....but to fix and correct issues and areas of the US., we don't all of a sudden have the money.

For the health care and getting the vaccines out: Look no further than a federal government still controlled by white republicans. If that can be remedied in Nov, I believe you'll see a whole truckload of things get done. Will we get it all? No. But it'll be an improvement. Not to mention holding on to certain rights we've gained over the past couple decades.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, But I find the minimum wage thing even more appalling. Not since Bush has it gone up. Most people making min wage can't even afford apartment rent in most big cities, without having 10 roommates!!! Min wage doesn't go up , but everything else sure does!!!!

And people think COVID is over, but it's not. The government is tired of throwing away vaccines cause the MAGAts do not want them, that's what's happening. I hope monkeypox gets under control. I know many LGBTQ organizations fighting to do outreach and have the gheyz tone it down for a while so it does not explode. And I think it's working...
