    Smart, intelligent, knowing.

    I read a recent clip on him. He he knew the US was in trouble. "The storming of the capitol was clearly planned in advance, and it's obvious by whom." He did not clarify to whom he was referring. Gorbachev also stated that the attack "called into question the future fate of the United States as a nation.

    I too once read a book about him. In it, Zhores Medvedev thought him a talented orator, in 1986 stating that "Gorbachev is probably the best speaker there has been in the top Party echelons.
