And as you guessed, and most likely already knew, the Mistress doesn't do the New Year New You bullshit either, lol!!!! Mine is to not make any new year new you rules. Though, my mother wants me to cut back on cussing. That last for about 20 minutes into the new year. No Christmas Miracle here. Besides why play with and ruin a perfect minx I say. New Year's Eve was actually fun and good to get out with 6 friends for a change, for dinner and drinks, of course all we talked about, it seemed, was the deeply sad news on the legendary Betty White's passing. I can't myself deny getting teary eyed when I had heard the news. She was one in a million and one actress who got me in the heart strings, much like last year when 2021 claimed Olivia De Haviland that July. I surmise we won't see the likes of such a fine lady in Hollywood again. But you may have also guessed the Mistress made it to around 2:45am and had to be unzipped and stripped and put to bed. Gin, Moscow mules, and champagne are not the best matches made in heaven to mix. But I did arise the next day by 10 and headed home with the Lad to prepare the families New Year Day dinner for the evening. I'm now enjoying the last two days off before the shop reopens. Excuse me now, I'm off to have a nice moist muffin, with no cherry.
Wonderful post and a great tribute to Betty.
ReplyDeleteThe Hat Made of Cat - a new Doctor Seuss, or would the Politically Correct crowd object?
ReplyDeleteThat cat hat cracked me up.
DeleteI think I fell in love with Betty White on Password. So sharp and funny. I had no idea that was the beginning of years of admiration. Well, if you can cut back on the cussing, so can I. Just kidding. That has a fucking firecracker’s chance in hell. (Sorry, mom.)
ReplyDeletePassword was before my time I believe, Mary Tyler Moore was my first experience with Betty. And I told my mother I have no damn idea what in hell she is talking about.
DeleteOh, it was before my time. Yep. It was. I must have seen it in reruns. Yep. That’s it. It was reruns.
DeleteKnock it off, Scoot! You've seasoned very, very well, so stop trying to deny your Methuselah status!
DeleteDeedles:
DeleteWho'd call it livin'?
No gal will give in
To no man that's 900 years... Oh, never mind.
I can't remember what a nice, moist muffin is, let alone one with a cherry. Betty White, what a treasure! I remember her on Password when I was a child. The original one. I was young, but, loved her chemistry with her husband Alan/Allen Ludden. I never watched the parades. So boring. Betty seemed to be beautiful inside and out. There's not enough of that these days.
ReplyDeleteI think that cat is suffering from a massive hangover. It's nice to have a buddy to get you through.
I loved her and Alan together.
DeleteAnd I don't even remember where my muffin is anymore Deedles.
That made me snort laugh, Ms Agnes! Thank you!
DeleteOh dear...here comes you two talking muffins and cherries. Hell, I don't think I've had a cherry in years.
DeleteMads, chocolate covered ones are the best *wink*.
DeleteI have NEVER had a cherry.
DeleteA true star in the best sense of that word!
ReplyDeleteMs White...groovy.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
RIP, an icon - we adored her!
ReplyDeleteRemember her immortal words of wisdom: "Sex is pretty funny, let's face it. And the more seriously we take ourselves, the funnier sex gets, I think."
Jx
yep...you and helen lawson.
ReplyDeletebeautiful tribute. betty would like the dogs and cats.
I've never seen that photo of Betty White with Lorne Green. Thanks, Maddie. And Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to watch the Golden Girls now knowing they are all passed on. They just played the show where they were caring for one of Sophia's friends, and they all promised to be there for each other till the end. And Betty White's Rose then asks, "What happens when there is one of us left?"
ReplyDeleteI started getting teary eyed. I really liked this mood board.
I remember that scene very well.
DeleteBetty White was a great human being... and just think how many dogs, cats, bunnies and other animals are waiting to greet her with kisses on the other side of the rainbow bridge!
ReplyDeleteI like to think she'll be the official greeter at the Rainbow Bridge.
DeleteNice tribute to a classy lady Most celebrity passes are just that.... But Betty's was more, her heart filled manners and reactions will be missed.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kent, for stopping in and adding to the talk. She is a great role model for us all. I can say I don't think I have ever seen someone pass that just about everyone loved.
DeleteA much better notion than making new year resolutions is taking some time about now to reflect on the past year what was good or not good about it and have that influence what you will do/not do this year in general. I plan this year to cut out as much useless time sucks as possible.
ReplyDeleteI always reflect on what didn't work so as to not repeat it.
DeleteLovely and moving mood board today. Starting the New Year somber. I loved Betty in numerous shows, and yes, I do actually remember Betty and Loren hosting the Thanksgiving Parade. I'm old and remember that. And much like Lucille Ball, I don't think it occurred to anyone just how glamorous Betty was when she was young.
ReplyDeleteYears ago, when I did a post on her, I was shocked to see she had had brunette hair at one time.
DeleteI still adore her on the Mary Tyler Moore show. Knew nothing about her, and assumed that was her personality. I loved Sue And Nivens. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteMTM was the first show I became familiar with her on.
DeleteGreat photos of Betty and some creatures she would have loved.
ReplyDeleteShe was given a great hand of cards and she knew out to play each and every one.
ReplyDeleteMay she rest in peace! Pure class!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post honoring Betty White.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post for this Monday.
ReplyDeleteBetty White was a comic genius, which she proved on two shows with various other comic geniuses.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention held her stint on SNL...not an easy show to host and play live skits...she knocked it out of the park.
DeleteMiss Betty already. What a shitty way to end the year.
ReplyDeleteMistress, you could be many in Valley of the Dolls, but yes, Helen Lawson first.
"Look. They drummed you right outta Hollywood! So ya come crawlin' back to Broadway. Well, Broadway doesn't go for booze and dope. Now you get outta my way, I got a guy waitin' for me."
DeleteEnjoy your muffin may there be much of it in 2022!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!
Sx
The houseboys have said the same.
DeleteShe was a spectacular lady and took no guff. She will be missed. Thanks for the post and have a great year ahead.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like 2021 is already trying to not let go Huntley.
DeleteNice tribute to Betty White. The world is a darker place without her.
ReplyDeleteI saw the CNN report like 33 mins. after the report. So damn sad. It was as if 2021 was flipping us all off one last time. That's a wonderful tribute to her.
ReplyDeleteI don't do the New Year bs either. Don't see the point when I know I'm never going to keep to any of it, anyway. Hugs!!!
