I would swear it is the season that just keeps going. This has already felt like the longest season of Drag Race, and the last two episodes did nothing really to change that. Fresh off of Olivia Lux sashaying away, the four remaining queens Gottmik, Rose', Kandy Muse and Symone are left to duke out in the workroom and main stage. For their final challenge, the queens were tasked with writing, recording and performing their own verse to Ru's new tract, Lucky, which henny... wasn't her best or visually appealing video for the girls. I remember when the queens did The Realness, with Bob, Naomi and Kim Chi, not to mention my hot Latina husband in my head, Willie Gomez. Now THAT was old school sounding Ru. Remember the good old days, when they did an actual video? For your viewing pleasure and Willie Gomez fondling
But I digress. The end result was fun enough for tv, a colorful video that put each queen in their best light...including Kandy.
In the end, I do think Ru ended up with the best final four, even though I don't agree with four, I think it should be three for the finale. The last two shows, I have grown to like Kandy more. There is no doubt fans hate her, but she is so typical of Brooklyn drag, and no doubt has the funny wise cracks, and some of her stories do make me laugh. And the drag queens hating on her, well guess what hunty, she got there and you didn't. I will give it to her to even get there to the show in the first place. I just wish she'd do bigger hair.
If the show that night did award a winner, no doubt it would have been Gottmik. She nailed the fuckin video, I was very impressed with what she did. Having never seen her perform and she nailed it. Gottmik delivered a spoken verse that remained inspiring without getting cheesy. Hopefully fans get off Ru's back about her lack of support of the trans community. Which is really not true. No one supported and embraced the trans girls more than Ru when she came to New York. No one knows more than Ru that drag queens and trans work hand in hand in the nightlife. So I only hope fans can move on from that.
I was very impressed with Kandy's look, gurl got nerve showing her figure, and she took it as she looked back from her journey "from the hood to Hollywood." She was giving me major Lil'Kim vibe from The Jump Off.
Who knew Rose" could speed rap?
Symone gave us some vintage 50's pin up sexiness and served more attitude than anyone else.
As for the runway looks, They were just okay. With exception to Kandy who probably showed more polish than at any other time and finally did bigger hair, everyone else has shown better at other times in the season. These should have been way more fabulous for a final runway to represent excellence. But that said...
Mik looked excellent in a form fitting Cruella de Vil approved spotted dress, and her whole concept was more chic then the others while having some campy fun. I think she really should have won the night.
And Kandy was my other favorite, in a fun sexy, flirty little number. but I don't think it called final runway, but she did look better then most of her other runways....finally. The only one to speck of excellence was Symone's, which was stunning, if not a little simple and subdue for her, and Rose's looked like blankets, and again the proportion looked off, and yet again, Michelle didn't call it out.
Having the queens do their lip syncs separately was a good idea and we could fianlly see how Gottmik would do. But they should have kept the split screen the whole time for us to compare. So who's gonna be the winner baby? I still think Gottmik is going to take it, but many I know think it's going to be between Rose and Symone, with Rose' being crowned. Place your bet bitches!
Now the Reunited was by far the best episode of the fucking season!!!!! I was more entertained by it than any of the episodes. It was almost like watching an actual drag show with individual videos presented by the drag queens. And the 69 questions for the final four was so funny with their answers. But the videos were excellent.
Now this is the Tina I know from New York. I'm not sure why she didn't step outside of the Burner on the show more and show this side of her. Her video was a great poke of fun at herself and one of my top four of the night....but leave it to Utica to be the one true concept artist.
Her video and ensemble was jaw dropping.... I dare say her concepts are on par with Sasha Velour. It was brilliant.
It was great to see Olivia with her video. Again, she needed some of that updated glam, and sexy, and maybe she would have gotten further. She looked incredible. LOVED Tamisha Iman's original song, Arrogant. It was old school house and I was there for that. Sigh. Denali. I like Denali, I really do, but that drag look, hunty, it was harsh!!! I have no idea why, but I do not feel her drag...Joselyn Fox looks better. on a bad day....but I could watch him ice skate all day as a boy. But my favorite video was a selfish choice. Elliott with 2 T's. That bitch had that song tight in lip synching and she can dance. Not to mention it looked like a drag routine I would do, as I was probably considered a dancing queen. I'm a huge Kiesza fan so I adored Elliott picked Hideway. I was dancing right with the bitch. She nailed that fucking thing, and she might have had my wig. So lets give it up to the unappreciated underdog. I'd still nail him too.
It's a wrap.
