Now, this will be a Drag Race I can get behind! It has been officially announced that early summer, Drag Race Espana is set to air, making it the 5th in the international series. The show is set to air in Spain on ATRES Player and in US territories on WOW Presents Plus. And this is what I'm here for....the high camp!

Lets keep these international shows going I say.......
Drag Vulcano - Gran Cancaria looks like Cher!
ReplyDeleteI would never have guessed Spain, one of the two centres of the counter-Reformation where THE church still has a strong grip on the nation, down for drag - and where it must be so muh harder to be a drag queen - this is a salute to those brave ladies.
ReplyDeleteGran Canaria, Sitges (near Barcelona) and Torremolinos (near Malaga) have been thriving and untroubled gay meccas for decades! Some of the venues we've been to were in business long before Franco died... Jx
DeleteWow... does present plus! Maybe I'll watch this one... and hope the bitchiness level is low (although I doubt it). These queens look incredible. And I love the names: Arantxa Castilla La Mancha! And Pupi Poisson is a local girl. Someone to cheer for.
ReplyDeletePupi is split between time in Madrid and Malaga.
DeleteOMG yes!
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd get into this. Love their aesthetic! I don't have WOWPRESENTS but I'm going to be looking forward to your reviews. I'm sure some of the videos will make it to youtube and I'll binge on them.
Dovima, Carmen and Inti: whoa!
XOXO
This is a good example of where all the bitches are a front runners going in. This could be any of their games...... but I do know Dovima, Drag Vulcano and Killer Queen are also well known outside of their countries too.
DeleteThey all look fabulous, but what the heck is JLo doing in there?
ReplyDeleteOh. Carmen Farlara? Never mind.
How fun. Some truly amazing queens. Breaking out internationally is just the thing Ru's brand needed. New blood. Fresh perspectives. It's educational... learning how drag is conceived in different cultures and environments. I bet this one is going to have lots of drama? That's presumptuous on my part... playing into the whole overly passionate Latin cliché. But... ratings! Keep us informed, dear. You do this so well. You're like the Hedda Hopper of drag! Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteSome incredible looks here!
ReplyDeleteThey all look much as one would expect now the "Drag Race style" has been established for so many years. In reality, most Spanish drag we've seen is very much in the "amateur" vein. The Madam was grabbed on stage by a fearsome harridan an one venue in La Nogilera in Torremolinos, and knew the words to the song she was miming better than she did - in Spanish! We don't even speak Spanish. None of them ever seem to know the words. If there's a "lip-synch" round on this show, it'll be a car crash. Jx
ReplyDeleteJust put peanut butter on their lips I say!
DeleteSagitaria reminds of Bette Midler - ya can't get any campier than that!
ReplyDeleteMany beauties!
ReplyDeleteRupaul is gonna be 83 years old, and like “and welcome to main stage of rupaul’s drag race bora bora”
ReplyDeleteI do like the international shows..it's where is at.
My mental health relies on this show henny.
ReplyDeleteHaving met Killer Queen she is one talented bitch that will bring down a house. There is so good talent on this show. I can’t wait for “RuPauls International All Stars Drag Race” when all the queens from all over the world compete in a Miss Universe fashion. Being intresting to see the dynamic between the fishy US queens compared to the traditionally campy style of the international set.
ReplyDeleteA Hefty bag has never looked better.
ReplyDeleteWhile the US show is getting stale, I don't see this happening with the franchise's international versions. It's just good exposure to the cultural variations of the art form.
ReplyDeleteQuiero ver esto! Esto me da esperanza para una Carrera de Resistencia Brasil 🙏
ReplyDeletekiller Queen. She is all set with that name and look to be a DC comic villainess.
ReplyDeleteLooks very colourful!
ReplyDeleteI'll forgive Pupi.
ReplyDeleteSissy That Walk + that tall and lean silhouette with a bowl cut...FABULOUS!
