The other day I couldn't resist and went to see Independence Hall, a short train ride for me. It made me feel better and brought some comfort oddly. In 1776, the Second Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence here. Eleven years later, in the same room, delegates to the Constitutional Convention created and signed an enduring framework of government - the United States Constitution. Although known today as Independence Hall, the building was constructed to be the Pennsylvania State House. And today, a little more than half the country decided that democracy would win, and honor democracy and the constitution, not abuse it. Congratulations to President elect Biden and Vice President elect Harris. It will be nice to have grown ups running the country again!!!!
A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late!

Yes. I was glad Biden didn't make the mistake Hillary did. I just just at Anne Maries!
DeletePARTY IS ON!!!!
Cheers 🥂💃 . Today is a good day! I was with Dems and Repubs, today and both were crying because of Joe Bidens win. Both were happy and crying, because of this win and bringing this country back and ending the terror and deepening the swamp. That these Republican's are glad and relived even says alot!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOur hard work paid off!
It's like the fours years in melting already!!!! My R-Friends are happy too! We must work together and the partisan's shit has to end.

DeleteTo quote Slim Pickens in Dr. Strangelove: "Waaaa-hooooo! Waaaa-hooooo!" (Wave 10 gallon hat here.)
ReplyDeleteIm not familiar with Slim Pickins....but Ill drink from that 10 gallon hat sweet cheeks!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteOh yes! I got the biggest gown on EVER!!!!!
DeleteFor a change we're going to have to act like Republicans and kick the dead horse.
ReplyDeleteYep. I had a hell of a time commenting on your blog tonight. The comment screen kept going blank.
DeleteThe picture of Independences Hall is a mic drop in itself!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt felt right to me too.
DeleteTo everyone celebrating. I'm there with you in spirit!!!!! However being in a family of nearly all Trump voting conservatives in a community, in county, in a state of mostly Trump voting conservatives. I can't celebrate unless I want to make a target out of myself and have them take out their frustrations on. Being the only liberal member of my immediate family I've already heard enough today about, and how It's all my fault.
ReplyDeleteSo celebrate for me, and the other Americans like me. You give us the hope that keeps us going
I can't even imagine Tim. Screw them....you can come live with me!!!!!!!
Deleteyes, come tot he casa du borghese. maddie will have you in the boudoir showing you the ways.

DeleteI have battled health issues three times and won, and had other life obstacles... but I've never felt such a profound sense of relief as I feel today! And I don't even live there aymore.
ReplyDeleteThis New Zealander is happy for the US today.
I love your post and the picture a wise and perfect choice.
ReplyDeleteThe only history Donald Trump made will be the first elected President in US history to be impeached and defeated, in his first term, and the worst one ever No recount will change that. No legal challenge will change that. The Supreme Court will not change that. That will be his history.
I think Maddie should be hired to throw the inauguration party. Pam Demic should be hired to escort the leaving crime family and make sure they are off the grounds. For good!
ReplyDeletei'll second that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteFUCK YEAH!
DeleteThe Wizard of Oz was pretty funny!!!!! LMAO! Love the picture.
ReplyDeleteWe have a ways to go to win back the trust of our allies and the world, but I'd say this is a pretty good start tonight. The Republicans need to really look at there party... Even my R friends have said this.
Congrats!!!! I like the balloons!
ReplyDeleteSxx
Today was a glorious day to be an American. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteDear Maddie, thanks for this enjoyable post --and a bit of time-travel for me. In the summer of 1964, I was one of 52,000 Boy Scouts headed for the International Jamboree at Valley Forge. Of course my busload paused at Independence Hall and I recall the statue of John Barry on the way in. Its pedestal --at that time, maybe still-- just said "Barry" on it. His hand was about 3/4-raised in salute or salutation. I was tired, carrying a pack and dufflebag, but I looked up, waved and said "Hello and thanks to you too, Barry!" It wasn't 'til autumn, when I returned to California, that I read about him. Commodore John Barry held a place of honor and dignity as founder of American Navy but, to a tired teen greeted by a friendly bronze guy on a pedestal, he'll always just be "Barry" to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Geo. No...your memory serves. Barry is still there and still says simply "Barry" This statue always seems to get skipped since it's located in Independence square and there is a lot to do around here, with Liberty Bell and such...so it's understandable why it would. Barry played an important role in our American history that most folks are not aware.
DeletePhiladelphia Freedom!
ReplyDeleteListening to the acceptance speeches last night brought a lump to my throat. Someone said that Uncle Joe said “god” in his speech more times than 45 has in four years.
ReplyDeleteThe speech was heartfelt, coherent and inspiring. Now, let’s bring in two Democratic senators from Georgia!
Welcome back America! (to quote Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris)
ReplyDeleteI love the Wizard connection.
ReplyDeleteFinally. I feel like I can breathe again.
ReplyDeleteLove the Wizard of Oz. As a kid, I would imitate the Lollipop Guild.
ReplyDeleteUmmm. Can we see a video of that?!?!?1
DeleteGreeting and Happy saluations from Amsterdam!!!!! I couldn't be more pleased that dictator has been fired. Just still... I can't believe there is still half a country who voted for that shit show again.
ReplyDeleteThose two videos and song sum it up...ALOT!
The ultimate sign of democracy. And ummmmm, to refresh your memory does this mean since Biden won we get a picture with no clothes on?!?!? And I quote you- "At this point, if Biden wins Ill even repost these pictures with no clothes on if thats what it takes."
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is what brought the vote?
Huh, I remember that promise too.
DeleteIt all the way just "AWSOME"
ReplyDeleteGood things come to those who... suffered through four years of a nightmarish hell on earth. So glad I soon won't wake to the news of another offensive tweet. The definition of a lie will be restored. And... let's hope, indictments by the dozen are filed and served the moment that monster steps foot off the grounds of the white house! Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteOMG Maddie!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it happened.
Last week was the longest, most nerve wrecking week in the last years. Seriously.
But now Uncle Joe is well on his way to kick Cheeto out of the white house. And Kamala will smile and send the Devil's Butler packing.
So good.
XOXO
