What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was sunny, beautiful, and warm and today it was very dark, windy and chilly. Yesterday found me out on the Delaware with two bear friends of mine I had met while walking our dogs, three years ago. Their a fun couple. They had asked me if I wanted to go kayaking on the river. Not knowing how to swim, and not knowing how deep the river is, I said sure why not!!!! May as well live each day to the fullest with the way this pandemic is going right??? I have to admit is was actually very relaxing and they even took their dog with them in the kayak. Twas a rather different view of the sister river towns I had not previously ever seen.
After that was over and ended on a positive note, I took a small walk about town before heading home. With the cooler temps, it's starting to cut into the tourist crowds now, it's getting harder now to dine out doors. I was pleasantly surprised. Our old railroad station that still runs between New Hope and Ivyland and returns back just for shits and giggles. I always thought it was quaint.
Their funny Halloween joke still sits there.
And the art gallery next to the train station still is showing their support for Biden...to the dismay of a trumper walking around grumping about coming with his family. "Had I known I was coming to a Blue Town, I wouldn't even came" were his words. LMAO!
These two gents came off the Bridge horseback for an afternoon out!!!!! I asked him if I could ride side saddle!
There is an old home in New Hope that has a stone gate at the front . The gates are attached to stone pillars and there is this relief in it. It always gives me the willies to look at it. I wonder if one of the witches around here didn't capture a man and place him in the stone????
I ordered take out to take home from the Salt House...the staff was friendly as ever and always looks responsible and good looking. I miss them.
Sun setting over the Salt House. It was a beautiful night.
It's nice to take advantage of the nice weather while it's here.
As your aware, I hate being indoors much
Tonight on tap is homemade meat loaf with gravy and bread.
And a good pint of ale.
What a glorious post!!!!! I miss getting over to New Hope. But be carful Mistress. You can't swim and went kayaking?!?!?!?! If I was your mother Id be a nervous wreak.
ReplyDeleteI miss the old King Midas Bread building.
I didn't tell her!
DeleteThe King Midas Bread building has a very interesting history that is too convoluted to repeat here. It might warrant a post one day.
I would be interested in the history of the bread building.
DeleteI love the tours of your home town, and the kayaking looked fun and peaceful, and such a glorious day!
ReplyDeleteI was a bit nervous at first of tipping ..I mean what with the wig and all...but it was rather relaxing after a bit.
DeleteFUCK THE DUMPTURD! he can leave and never return! who needs his ass stinking up the town!
ReplyDeletehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Hope_station
Deleteby the exterior, I thought the train station was part of the reading railroad and I was correct!
The station house and such is very much still intact from it's original beginnings too.
DeleteIf one is not opened minded, I have no idea why they would even go to New Hope in the first place. You and your other half should take the train ride sometime Anne Marie. When my peeps and I went out for a day, we did it. It was pretty cute.
Deletewill do, empress! spouse and I LOVE train rides!
DeleteThat "stone man" reminds me of someone - I thought at first Richard Madden, but the nose is too big, then Alan Cumming, but no. I'll get it in the end!
ReplyDeleteNice photos, by the way, and pleased you didn't drown. Well, rivers aren't made of gin, so I imagine you weren't tempted to dive in...
Jx
"I'll get it in the end!" Ill let that golden opportunity pass.
DeleteBut that stone man scares the hell out of me every time I see it....
damn, HOW did I miss THAT line! I must be slippin' in my old age...
DeleteGlad you got out, it hard with covid. The time on river looks like all were enjoying them self.
ReplyDeleteStay Safe and Coffee is on
It's all about getting out and doing things where many people aren't! Wait till you see what Im doing next!!!!!!
Deletewhat gorgeous scenery! What an outing!

Deletewhen you ordered take out, im surprised the waiter on the far right didn't come with it???
ReplyDeleteWho said I didn't order dessert?
DeleteSorry Tatum if your reading this, lol!!!
What a charming little rail station and love those guys on horseback! Your right, you know what what one my see there. Looks like a great day. We must enjoy the outdoors now...soon with cold and outdoor dinning ending it will be all indoors then.
ReplyDeleteYes, I fear Ill be trapped in when the real cold hits. What's your cam handle?!?!?? LMAO!!!!!!
DeleteWhen I started reading blogs I loved ones like yours. It gives me a chance to see the towns and cities of people from all over. I really enjoyed a glimpse into yours. So your a river town I see. I googled and see it's where George Washington crossed the river!!!! A very old area filled with color and history. How fascinating. I also see you have a lot of entries to keep me reading...
ReplyDeleteThats a lovely comment, Thank You. I glad you enjoy it. It's why I started reading blogs too, but now am reading all kinds of blogs.
DeleteLovely tour, sugarpie! The last time I went kayaking in Savannah, I wore a life vest because I ain't the best swimmer in the world! I need to get outside more. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWith the glamping and mountains done, Im am trying to find new creative things to do outdoors. One doesn't need to be around many and you get fresh air. I also don't swim....so thanks goodness Im good on my back!!!!!!!!!!!....I can back float lambchop.
DeleteGreat shots...especially like the first one with bridge réfection and beer....I’m ready to sign up for the tour...love your images sharing New Hope!
ReplyDeleteYes, the liquid encouragement help to get started. It was cool going under the bridge.
DeleteThose guys on horseback is pretty kick ass!!! And sure beats getting gas.
ReplyDeleteThe stone man in the wall is sort of creeping me out too? I wonder what the history of that is? Otherwise another lovely post seeing your area. Love the kayak pictures and see even the little doggie has a life preserver. I too am finding myself wanting to know more about that King Midas Building. It looks cool.
ReplyDeleteLove the staff with the wait staff and masks, that Salt House looks like a nice place to hang .And anything railroad gets me intrigued.
ReplyDeleteDo you mind if I stop in for dinner? That sounds amazing
I looked up the salt house menu; looks tasty!
DeleteI love the Salt House. And their cock-a-tils are nicely made and different concoctions
DeleteI love this post. So much to distract me. What a great place.
ReplyDeleteAnd not many people again. I guess that is a good and bad thing/
DeleteIt does the soul good to get out and about. And with such a lovely area you should take advantage of it. The weather here was very blustery: 50-60 MPH gusts and overcast. A nice day to catch up on some house cleaning and streaming.
ReplyDeleteHave you been horse riding before? If not it should be next on your list!
ReplyDeleteI think you are very brave to go kayaking - the idea scares the hell out of me, and I can swim.
The creepy stone man reminds me of something too - if I remember I'll come back and say.
Sx
See. I'm not the only one this reminds something of???? I've have been horseback riding but it's been ages!!!!! My half brother used to have horses and also ran boarding stables.
DeleteThe TRAIN!, another reason for us to come visit when things are safer. Find an indoor pool and a kind adult instructor, you will enjoy not being on your back all the time.
ReplyDeletewho are we kidding, she LOVES to be on her back with her heels to jaysus!
DeleteThat's it...Im bringing a portable turntable with ABBA selections.....
DeleteLoves it!
ReplyDeleteI have never been Kayaking. Never. God I'm such a wuss.
I'd love to visit your neck of the woods. Especially with those horsemen prancing around...
XOXO
It was my first time. the hardest part for me was sitting with my legs straight out in it. I'm more used to canoeing
DeleteFun tour!
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
Looks and sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures of New Hope every time you post them, and that dumbass Trumper should have done his research before he wandered in from the back country.
ReplyDeleteYep!!!!! If your a far right conservative and head to New Hope, one better brace themselves. Lord only knows what you might see.
