DEMOCRACY

The other day I couldn't resist and went to see Independence Hall, a short train ride for me. It made me feel better and brought some comfort oddly. In 1776, the Second Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence here. Eleven years later, in the same room, delegates to the Constitutional Convention created and signed an enduring framework of government - the United States Constitution. Although known today as Independence Hall, the building was constructed to be the Pennsylvania State House. And today, a little more than half the country decided that democracy would win, and honor democracy and the constitution, not abuse it. Congratulations to President elect Biden and Vice President elect Harris. It will be nice to have grown ups running the country again!!!!

MONDAY ....NOOOOO

I just wish one week, one of you dear readers would figure out a way slow down the weekend. They come and go all too quick!! It was another relaxing weekend...a good friend of mine came for the weekend and we got out and about into Philly. It was great to get out of doors, and I'll enjoy it while it lasts. Even though I enjoy summer best, no denying I love me my jeans and cashmere sweaters, scarves and such. I'm a layering queen I tell you. We had a great time in town.... we explored around Elfreth's Alley and Independence Hall, always an historic setting, Carpenters' Hall, and along Forbidden Drive.

And Manuel caught this gratuitous shot me of trying to nap! Or something.

FOUNDING FATHERS

I took this picture at Independence Hall several weeks ago. This statue is of Commodore John Barry.

Independence Hall is the building in which both the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were drafted and signed in the late 1700's right here in Philadelphia by our Founding Fathers, who as you know wore wigs. Funny how years later, men are still moving forward, and changing the laws to be better for some of the population.

And they are still wearing wigs.

STROLLING THE BOULEVARD

It was another glorious weekend.... and just in time for Earth Day. Since Daddy Warbucks got into town Friday evening, we decided to go into Philly to spend time outdoors, enjoying what Mother Nature has given us on Saturday. Maybe the cold weather mix up was no accident...the trees and Fairmount Park were more vibrant and stunning then I've seen.

Then there was this..... click the Parc Brasserie. to lick your chops over the menus.

 Since the lovely Parc is located at Rittenhouse Square Park....any restaurant using a squirrel in their marketing and food, like the cookie garnishing my ice cream, I can get behind!!!! I think my Bouvier would approve!!! Although I felt guilty eating it.
