No room service,No concierge,No house keeping service... well except for that of the houseboys... BUT yet this is still my favorite place to be... my pied de terre… to be precise, my favorite cozy-corner sofa by the window. It is always my favorite place in my apartment and where I read my blogs and usually post from. It generally takes me some time to adjust to summer ending, but once I do embrace autumn...I'm ready for it. And since fall has arrived I have been enjoying the fall scent candles and the spices for mulled cider scenting the home when preparing. Nothing like it. And let it not be said I don't like my Halloween décor. My favorite of holidays.
Not that Im bat shit crazy, but I enjoy the fun side of Halloween, but also I too embrace the true meaning of Samhain. If you’re new to the pagan tradition, I think it's a great time to remember loved ones of the past.... and like an altar in place, you can easily set up a table or console table and leave it in place. Decorate the altar with symbols of late fall, such as: skeletons, grave rubbings, harvest food such as pumpkins, squash, root vegetables, nuts and berries, dried leaves and acorns , or a cornucopia filled with an abundance of fruit.A time to embrace the dead.
A favorite light up that was my grandmothers from when I was a child
My alter of sorts. And my regular readers know I love me my candles!
A collection of crepe pumpkins from the Dame.
Of course these spirits are nice too!!!!
Apothecary filled with gourds, pumpkins, acorns, pine cones and dried berries.
I love white pumpkins. How cute is that real little one?
More candle is the boudoir. In total I light around 20 candles at night. Looks like a séance.
With exception to two Halloween parties, with one more yet, it was a good weekend to be home and with rain, wind, and cold, it was time for a great Pot Roast dinner...with some red wine.
Friends say aren't you crazy for tempting with the dead and such, and celebrating them? Hell no, I even walk the neighboring cemetery Halloween night usually. Not to worry, my minions have guard over me.
Where's your favorite 'corner'
in your home-sweet-home ???
...do share
I live in an apartment, so there's only so many corners, but the dining room table I guess. It's where I do all my reading. If I try to read on a living room chair, I tend to nodd off (I do that watching TV, too.)
ReplyDeleteAutumn is a glorious time of year and your spectacular decor is a perfect way to embrace it.
ReplyDeleteAlways a warm home, but it's your meat and potatoes that entice me.
ReplyDeleteOmg....that dinner looks delish!!! I can just smell the whiff of autumn in it. Your place is so warm and chic. Do we get halloween pics coming?????
ReplyDeleteNice to see you survive your birthday feztivites.
Another reason I love your blog...always find something of inspiration, away from the news. One can take only so much. But it's you old soul and traditions I love. I can feel warmth from you home. But your minions look a tad menacing.
ReplyDeleteahhh... such a cozy home...
ReplyDeletejust comfortable! Im place is usually in bed with a good book, with blankets and wine.
my sunporch; the cats and my fave place to be!
ReplyDeleteDorothy said it best and told you so....there's no place like home!! And yours is always so welcoming. Love all the pumpkins and fall touches. My favorite spot is in a corner of my apartment, in an empty corner where I practice my cello.
ReplyDeleteBut where was my invite for dinner?
That opening picture is beautiful! I love all your touches, always do.Here in my small house, it's small enough that I don't have a fave spot, I like the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteIn my Morris chair in the living room..usually playing a video game... by candlelight.
ReplyDeleteI think I have filled every space that I can with pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteMy Emergency Back-Up Daughter and I compare excesses of pumpkins, Halloween and lights.
You do have the right spirits haunting your lovely home!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
the joint has been cleaned of spirits, but they just seem to multiply like crazy.
DeleteThose mirrors are perfectly judged
ReplyDeleteMistress, I always love a seasonal tour of your lovely abode...it's always well appointed and I love that you always embrace the holidays. I especially adore the paper crepe pumpkins...my mother had those when we were young. Plus that dinner looks warming for sure. And Oh yes - very territorial about my corner of the sofa - the other end just feels wrong.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastically comfy and welcoming! I am still in love with that china cabinet use as a bar...how perfect for spacing planning and multi use. But your seasonal touches are so quaint. Loving the orange lights.
ReplyDeleteI think you may need more gin dear.
ReplyDeleteI think you place now got me in the mood for Halloween. Although I don't know I'd temp with the spirit world.Yikes. My favorite spot is definitely my bed.
ReplyDeleteI love all your natural elements you use...so seasonal! I just wish I could get the energy to do this. My spot is easily my favorite club chair with blanket in the study.
ReplyDeleteYou truly capture the feeling of the season my friend. So warm and inviting. Love the little pumpkins on the window sill, but do your minions mind them??
ReplyDeleteI favorite spot is right in my chair in front of the fireplace.
WOW. a nice looking and handsome place. I could get quite comfy there. For me...it's the bed. I thought for sure that would be yours?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteI love my sofa but actually I spend a lot of time lounging on the bed in my guest room these days because it gets lots of lovely sunshine at this time of year. Love your cosy apartment, you have got the touch, and it's great when home is the best place on earth - as it should be!
ReplyDeleteThat IS a sweet home!
ReplyDeleteI love your spooktaclar décor! That sofa looks so mighty cozy! You so wouldn't want to see my frat pad, I need help. Big time. My gay card may be stripped.
ReplyDeleteYour place alway looks so elegant - I didn't get the decorating gene. My favorite corner, my messy desk in the end of my bedroom.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the messy corner is always the coziest!
DeleteA wonderful way to celebrate the passing season and embrace the new one. And thanks for pointing out the multiple ways to enjoy the “spirits.” Cheers!
ReplyDeleteNo surprise, you make everything beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMistress! You've made me reconsider not having any kind of Autumnal decor at home! It all feels cozy and warm. Perfect for the start of this cold season. And I'm like you, I prefer my sofa to read and grade and check the blogs.
ReplyDeleteIs that all, babe? 😉
DeleteOne of the Mistress's trademark posts. I always love to see how you decorate and accessorize. Looks lovely....now how about a drink from the bar?
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so pretty. If I could afford it, I would have someone do our house up for Halloween, then for Christmas. We only put out Christmas decorations - and I hate doing it. But, then again, it's my least favorite holiday.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!!!
Sounds like most of us like our sofas!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.....
ReplyDeleteMy bed, but not for the same reasons y'all have. I like to lie down and relax after work there. My kitties usually join me for that quiet time, too.
