You Promised Me
I heard this song today from only just a couple years ago. I LOVED THIS SONG! When our good friend Patty Pass-Around would visit, we would cut a serious ditty to this Parisian sounding song at Pure nightclub in Philly. And we drove the Boy-Toy nuts because we would clap to the beat the whole way through the song, and I also had it on cd, so we would listen to it whole way home in the car over and over clapping the whole way. By time we were home poor Boy-Toy was beaten. Funny, that cd seemed to disappear from the collection. The songstress is a Italian singer by the name of In-Grid. I just love the retro European look of the video. Instead of a dance video, she took the classy way out!

Grande Dame of the Week!
The dark and mysterious Drag racer......Raven!
Meet Raven... in her own words. "My first time in drag was not completely unfortunate but a little rough! Bushy brows, thin lips, and a bit of a 5 o’clock shadow. I have definitely stepped it up a little! My persona is a conglomeration of all things I find sexy. From dark and mysterious, to gorgeous glamazon and everything in between! I feel I can do it all!!! White pumps after Labor Day...I DON'T GIVE A DAMN!!! The ONLY time you should be caught dead in flats is exactly that...in your coffin! Raven is from Riverside CA where she entertains the masses weekly! And as beautiful as Tyra looked, Raven sooooooo should have gotten this title! Ah well she will always be fierce!

Death by.............
Death by M&M'S
For anyone who has eaten the whole box, or bag, or carton the photographs in this series make light of our secret binges. Here, the consequences of indulgence are tabloid or monster movie deaths. Daniela Edburg’s Drop Dead Gorgeous show both mocks and satisfies our cravings. Born in Houston in 1975, Daniela Edburg grew up in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She got her bachelor’s degree in visual arts from the National University in the excellence program at the San Carlos Academy in Mexico City, where she still lives and works.
Death by Gummi Bears
Death by Nutella. Couldn't help but think of our TrannyBeth!
Death by Saran wrap. Ohhhh how this has happened to me a few times!

The Mask and Wig Club
One thing that is held close to Philadelphians is the arts. We are lucky to have lots of support in our community to have wonderful museums, 3 classical/jazz radio stations, and a wonderful theater and playhouse community, but one of the best kept secrets is what's tucked elegantly away down one of the old cobblestone streets in the quaint gayborhood. The Mask and Wig Club. When I first heard of it I was all excited. I though how cool to go to a club wearing masks and wigs! Like I didn't already right? But I thought everyone had to wear them. Wrong.
The Mask and Wig Club, founded in 1889 by Clayton Fotterall McMichael and is the oldest all-male collegiate musical comedy troupe in the United States. Founded as an alternative to the existing theatrical and dramatic outlets, Mask and Wig has presented comedy, music, and dancing to the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and audiences across the country. The club's performers, or "The Cast" put on two all-original shows each year in collaboration with the Club's own Stage Crew, Band, and Business Staff. The players being all-male, play both the men and the women's parts. Many Mask and Wig originals were made famous on the radio by mid 20th century luminaries. The well-known "Route 66" was composed by club member Bobby Troup and launched to the height of popularity by Frank Sinatra. Troup's song "Daddy" was written for a Mask and Wig show. Other Mask and Wig songs, such as "The Gypsy in My Soul," written by Clay Boland and Moe Jaffe, have been performed by the likes of Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, and Ella Fitzgerald. The first electrically recorded album ever released was Mask and Wig's “Joan of Arkansas,” in April 1925. After nearly a century and a quarter at the cutting edge of American musical comedy, the Mask and Wig Club still thrives and remains true to its credo: "Justice to the stage and credit to the University."
In 1894 the Club purchased a property at 310 South Quince Street to serve as a gathering place and rehearsal hall, the Mask and Wig Club, where it still is located today. The Club is made up of four distinct sections: the cast, the band, the crew, and the business staff. The cast writes and performs all of its own material during the Fall and Spring Shows. The band often functions as a pit orchestra, playing original, self-arranged pieces for the Fall show, and professionally arranged pieces for the Spring production. The band also holds the headliner spot at the University of Pennsylvania's annual Spring Fling festival. The crew builds elaborate, ornate, and completely original sets for both the Fall and Spring Shows. The business staff is responsible for advertising and selling tickets for the club's shows. In addition to the plays, the club has also held all gay dances, drag charity shows where the likes of Madison Avenue, Carlotta Tendant and Brittany Lynn perform, and the Mr Gay Philadelphia America show.
In 2007, the club under went a massive renovation, and was completed in the fall of 2009, allowing the club to once again return to its own stage for the 2010 Annual Productuction, "A Cheshire Catastrophe. And this one seems like a very interesting play which I hear is a cross of Alice in Wonderland, meets Oz! May have to check this play out! Tootles!

Craig Russell- A Drag Legend,Leaves me Speechless
Craig Russell was a Canadian female impersonator and drag known by the stage name of Craig Russell. And the Mistress considers him one of many drag legends. His impersonations were right on, better than most I have ever seen, and in most cases uncanny, including Carol Channing, Bette Davis, Mae West, Barbra Streisand, Tallulah Bankhead, Marlene Dietrich, Bette Midler, Anita Bryant, Shirley Bassey, Peggy Lee and Judy Garland. No easy task, with so many to do. While performing, he always spoke and sang in the voices of the celebrities he was impersonating. As a teenager, Craig Russell became president of Mae West's fan club and he briefly worked and lived in Los Angeles as her secretary. He returned to Toronto where he moved in with the writer Margaret Gibson. He worked as a hairdresser while pursuing his career as a stage performer. By 1971, he was a regular performer in Toronto gay clubs and had a burgeoning international following. One of his most famous impersonations was his jabs at homophobic Anita Bryant. This clip is hilarious! And uncanny!
In 1977, Russell starred in the film Outrageous!, based on a short story written by Gibson about their time as roommates. A decade later, in 1987, he starred in the sequel to Outrageous!, appropriately titled Too Outrageous! Russell's friend Stephen Jon Postal and his wife, Guia Dino Postal based a character, Kevin on his teen age life in their book, Of Margaret and Madness. He fathered a daughter, Susan Allison, who was born January 6, 1973 in Toronto. Father and daughter developed a relationship in the years prior to his death. Although he publicly identified as gay rather than bisexual, Russell married his close friend Lori Jenkins in 1982. Russell remained married to Lori until his death in 1990 of a stroke related to complications from AIDS. He was cremated and buried at Pine Grove Cemetery in Port Perry. This though is my favorite clip of him impersonating mother and daughter, Judy and Liza. Just genuis how he transforms from Judy into Liza right their on stage! What a talent and legend. I hope your entertaining in the sky sister!
From the Candy Shop
Ahhhhhhhhh, the gorgeous Chris Campanioni.
Chris is beyond precious. The body rocks, the face is equally as good, and the eyes have it. Chris as a model, has worked with dozens of great photographers, perhaps too many to name here. I must say it was difficult to choose my favorite photos to feature.Chris has one of the nicest muscular bodies you’ve seen in a long time. The perfect chest, beautifully sculpted arms, and such a tight midsection, it’s ridiculous! With that washboard I could do all my laundry. Enjoy these shots from the candy shop that I’m sure will take your breathe away.

A Joisey Housewife
Sooooooooooo, today the Mistress went to work and does what she does best, play in women's clothes!!! I was minding my P's&Q's working on a huge focal wall with several mannequins, when I hear someone ask for some help? I turn to make sure I'm being the addressed. A woman asks if I can help her as she sees that I'm coordinating clothing for the new trends for the mannequins. So the Mistress always one to help a damsel in distress, says "Why of course!" So I ask her a few questions but what she is looking for and what type of event it's for and we go from there. We made several fabulous selections and then I turn her over to an available sale associate to continue helping her. After 45 minutes the woman comes back and said she purchased several of the outfits I helped her with. She said who better to listen to than the fashion display stylist? She was very complimentary and she said she wished I could help her again. The whole time this was going on I knew she looked familiar. After she finally left the sale girl came over and asked if I knew her. I said no, but she looked familiar from some where. Turns out it was Danielle from the Joisey Housewives!!!
Now, I'm not a huge reality show fan as some who know the Mistress will vouch. Actually, can't stand them!!! I also thought that these people are absolutely nuts and crazy to be on these shows and they act so damn immature and what have you. But several times now I have seen some of these people on others shows, and now in person, and they have been the nicest people. Danielle today couldn't have been more personable and sweet! A real nice time. Just goes to show the networks can really edit the hell out of a show and make some look bad! I feel terrible making judgement on them. Except Rachael Zoe. And Paris Hilton. And the crew on the Hills. And.....Let me quit while I'm head. Tootles!
