Letters from Sister Mame

You recall last weekend I was glamping with my good friend and sister Mame, aka David Dust, where we had a blast. While doing the post, I was thinking I hadn't shared any letters from Mame lately, so I thought what the hay. Mame is one of my oldest, and I do mean that with love, and drunkest, dearest friends a person could ask for. There isn't a happy hour in the city safe from a visit from Mame!

Why anyone that can down two half gallons of Bacardi Limon, and still keep her pearls on, has got to have talent. But I digress. Anyho, when she first moved the the big city, I would look forward to her letters filled with hilarity, and never being there before, I lived vicariously thought her, and her antics in the city. And mind ya, these were hand written letters, you know, on paper, and then were walked to a big blue box called a mailbox for you young ins! I still love hand written notes. But here's another letter from sister Mame.......

And on the flip side...........

Well, I did meet Steven eventually, and Mame was right on all counts, as she broke the bed in at our friend Wayne's Ranch! And what a good time she was. Now you can all thank Mame for creating and molding who the Mistress has become! She has always been such an inspiration, and was the first to tell me condoms were a form of sexual protection, not water balloons to throw at people. And since then we are both popular with the boys all over! You can read Mame's story, Voices From the Past on how we met. It wasn't all friendly at first. But to this day, I'm glad to have a good friend and sister like Mame. I love her like a rash!

MAME, Darling

How do you like the picture of Mame and the Mistress from their early career days? Can you believe I have known that old goat for about 14 or 15 years now? I just got off the phone with my dear old friend Mame, or David Dust, as some of you probably know her, yesterday and we were getting caught up and said we really to get to the Bronx Zoo sometime this spring. Ya see, we have had plans to go their the last three times I was in the city. And every time, we never make it. Mame always plies me with some cock-a-tails and then leads me astray to the Urges Lounge for some all-male entertainment. The next day isn't generally too pretty, as we both look like a huge trash truck hit us! Of course we are ladies of leisure, and usually lounge about like proper socialites are to do. We will venture out around 1 or 2 in the afternoon when we are not hung anymore and look back to our fabulous selves. ( Of course it takes Mame just a bit more time to get ready). And Mame has always been fabulous. I found another one of her letters just the other day again.

When Mame posted about the Black Party a couple weeks ago, I remembered this letter. Now, Mame mind ya, has been here to visit, but we usually go up to her place. If their is going to be drinking involved, it really is much more easy to get back to her place in a ricksaw than to get to the Mistress's abode. If we decide to drink I don't know how we would get back here. Mame and the Mistress drive pretty scary sober!!! And the Mistress's bartend, Smithys would get us both pretty twisted. So, we are going to plan this zoo trip again and see if it will transpire. Any money bets this time whether we make it or not? And if we do drink Mame, get the cheese and Stella Der's ready!

Weekend with the Girls

Well, the Mistress is back from a lovely weekend in New York City where I was spending a weekend with my good friend and sister, Mame and the ever funny and fabulous Miss Ginger Grant, who it is always a pleasure to see and break a cock-a-tail with! And did we d have some of those! Unfortunately we were to go to the Bronx zoo, but got rained out on Saturday so we managed to make ourselves busy with a quick shopping trip and a tour to the Arby's only to find it had closed. I thought David was going to cry. That poor thing. They keep closing those darn Arby's up there. But don't you all worry now, her spirits were lifted when that night we arrived -finally to The Urges Lounge!

Ok. I will admit it. We did hit the Urges both nights we were up there. What else would you expect from us ho's. We like our papi's. And did they have them there. I especially took a liken to Fernando, but I tell you this, they were all hot and muscled and even in parts you couldn't see!!! One of the other go-go's gave us a little peek-a-boo. OH MY! What was that? We did have a very lovely time there. Although Sunday morning was a wee bit ugly, and poor Kailyn even got a "dronk" call from the Mistress. And she wasn't hearing any of it. I think she was putting moves on some young thing because she was off the phone quicker than a New York minute! Next day, we decided to take Miss G to see Chinatown since she wanted to see it, plus Mame and myself could get our wicked hang overs soaked up with some delish BBQ-Pork Pies, as I call them.

They are actually called Pork Buns and they are SO DAM GOOD! We went to our favorite place the Excellent Dumpling House where we par took of a huge feast of like 7 appetizers, pork buns, Thai rice, and all kinds of other little delish nibblies! The table was packed full and the food just kept rolling out! We also saw some poor ho and her tool who should definitely apply for the next season of Tool Academy. They were the lunch time entertainment. After lunch was over and we were like three stuffed pigs off to slaughter, we then took Miss G to the Pearl River Mart.

Pearl River Mart is a huge emporium of items and collections of the Chinese lifestyle. There is everything from novelties, clothing, food items, housewares, dishes, lighting, bath good and sundries. One could spend hours looking in there!

Every time I go to see Mame, I always like to go there and see what's new and get myself a new fan. I also was very pleased at my major purchase of a lovely sugar and creamer set for a whopping price of $5! That's the beauty of the mart. There prices are unheard of. Miss Ginger also cleaned house with some purchasing from it seemed every department. After Chinatown, we headed back to the Village by way of Little Italy where we enjoyed some refreshing Gellato and then headed to Garage for a cock-a-tail or two and a light supper and enjoyed the wonderful jazz of the place. I think by this time "the Urge" from the last two nights was catching up with us, as we were all a little wiped out. So I bid farewell to Miss Ginger, and then did a quick powder at Mame's and changed into my travel attire before hitting the train back to Philadelphia. It was a lovely time girls and it is always nice to see ya. Should we plan on the Urge for the week after next? And cake. Lots of cake.Tootles!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMIE!

Girl, all I can say is HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! I hope you will have a great day today! I have known Mame, or David Dust, one of my closest and dearest friends for years and years and years now and I can't tell y'all how good a friend Mame is. If there is one person to keep one in stitches and laughter it's my good friend Mame. Since y'all like old stories of Maddie and Mame one of her birthday's does come to mind. It was one of the very first birthday parties they had for her when I first met Mame. Our gang was very fond of throwing a cock-a-tail party for anything. Well our good friend Glen, God rest his soul, had a birthday party for Mame one year. I remember it being very hot and poor Glen didn't have on the air so we were all fanning ourselves with paper plates when the host wasn't looking. I remember both our faces melting before our eyes.It was a nice turn out and it was where Mame and I really bonded. I gave her a bottle of liquor of some kind, and we were thick ever since. And she did get some swell presents that year. Mame got her first pearl necklace, not that kind, get your minds out of the gutter, the kind every respectable woman has, a strand of lovely creme colored pearls. She had received a fan I believe and she also receive some adult novelties never to be seen again. (Note to self, when I go up this weekend remind me to look under the cushions of the sofa!)
Oh, anywho, it was a lovely party and we later just laughed and talked the night away. It was the night we really bonded like I said and we were the blond twins ever since when we went to the local cha-cha palace. And it was also Mame, Mamie! who introduced me to the South American mens! Variety is the spice of life she said. So I'd like to take this time to say thank-you for being my good life long friend, sister and family! You have been there through the good and bad, family losses and all the drunken calls, many dinners, parties, camp fires, bean dip fests and just to talk. Hell, a year ago I started this blog because of your inspiration. Thank you for being who you are. I can't wait for this weekend! You, me, Ginger, and the Urges! This is just spelling a good time!

And I just couldn't resist a birthday greeting from Aunt Barbara! Again Happy Birthday Mame! We love ya!

Another Tale of Mamie and The Mistress

Just like the picture above, this reminds me of another tale of my good friend and sister Mamie,AKA,David Dust, and myself. That, and a comment he made the other day to a post regarding a small teenie-tiny altercation we had with the car. It was years ago when we were partying one night out in Harrisburg. It was one of those nights we most likely looked damn good and sexy as hell. We were having a high-ho time dancing our asses off. And drinking our picked poisons of the night. Later we got invited to a wonderful little after hours party by a guy in town who was known for fabulous parties where you could find anything you wanted, and some things you didn't. Well being young and fabulous , our gang of friends decided we would all go to the party for more fun and debauchery. Never mind now that there had already been a pre-cock-a-tail party, lots of drinking out at the club and now a after-party! So Mamie and I take to our buggies since it was only five blocks away. Upon arriving at the location of said party, the Mistress starts to scout out a place to
park. Seeing nothing close to the house, I circled the block again and remembered seeing a parking lot across the street. So Mamie is still following me. Upon going around he block again,I pull into the parking lot of a swank historic apartment building, The Simon Cameron School. As I enter the lot the Mistress hears POP! Then another POP! Once in the lot I stop and look to see if Mamie is still following. And in Mamie comes right behind me and POP! The only thing was Mamie was smart not to pull the whole way in. Turns out, we ran over some spikes they use to keep stupid queens who are to drunk to read the Stop! Do not ENTER sign. Oh. I some how managed to back my car out,not popping any more tires. And we finally park on the street. Mamie and I panic at first, then start laughing. Our good friends,Vera and Winfred asked what we were going to do? Mamie and I always had our priorities straight and looked in the window reflection to make sure we looked good and said " We will worry about it later, we have a party to tend too!" Mind y'all I have two flat tires and Mamie has one flat. After another two hours Mamie changed her tire, or more like had a hot papi change the damn thing. The Mistress meanwhile only had a donut in the trunk so she needed a lift to her ancestral home to get a full fledged tire. One of the cute boys that she worked with was ever so kind to give her a ride to fetch the
tire. The twenty minute trip to the home turned into a return to the spot a hour and a half later. Never you mind what took so long! Ahhhhh, good times! The next day I believe we both made trips to purchase tires with really bad hang overs! The ironic part of the story is years later I ended up living in the historic Simon Cameron School Apartments and had my own damn parking spot. And while living there I can't tell you how many queens flattened tires on those damn spikes!!!

Letters From Sister Mamie

Today my good friend and sister Mamie, AKA David Dust posted a whole story on the background of the lovely festivities of the Black party. The Mistress got to thinking I have known this bitch for quite some time. Before I went about the rest of the day, I remember I had a letter that she wrote me when she was just a little blond chicken right off the Greyhound. I used to look forward to her letters when I got them. One letter in particular was a invite to the going ons at the Black Party.

Even then as you can see, she was a funny writer back then. Well, I don't think I ever went to the Black Party. I was just to young and impressionable ya see.Yea right, believe that one and I will tell you another.Plus, being just out, meant I would have to leave town and might miss meeting a new boy! Anywho, it wasn't till a New York Gay Pride that I finally went to visit her and also would make trips to go to Patricia Fields to get wigs and other drag provisions. And the letters would have me in stitches from her talk of working at Macy's when she was a young retail queen to the savvy business woman she is today. And then there were the tales of lust, I mean, love. Yea that's it,love. I don't know where lust came from. Lets just say their were tales of many men, all papi's. She knew then what she wanted. Then there were the tales of the club scene, the Roxy, the Limelight, where they had a special Margarita night, Sound Factory, the Tunnel and her personal favorite Stella's. And that was followed by the hang overs the next day. What's funny about the whole thing is I didn't know Mamie to well before she left to go to New York to live. Maybe a couple of months. At first meeting, it was awkward because I was seeing a guy who had also dated Mamie. When he brought me around Mamie wasn't going to have another damn blond around. Somehow, we became good friends and she moved away to New York. Hell, that same guy we had in common is also still a good friend and was our host at The Woods campground two years ago. Now we run him ragged! But I think we really connected when he would come home to visit at all the parties and gatherings we had. Ever since then, Mamie has been one of my best friends and sisters. We have had many a hang over, danced some ditty's, dated many, many, many, many men, wore many a turban, and have even lost some dear friends. No, Mamie is definitely one of a kind, and I'm glad a still have these letters. After all these years they still make me laugh! Mamie -thanks for being such a wonderful friend and a lovely sister. I love ya girl!
