FORTY

As you may have surmised, I was overjoyed by the announcement of Madonna on her latest tour. While probably not the most loyal fan, I do adore her. And I view her and take her on her merit and talent alone, not her personal bullshit and questionable decisions and choices...I'm here for just her music... there is not much in the way of music she did, I haven't liked, she may be the only artist I have almost every album of, with exception to Amy Winehouse. Have seen two of her concert tours, and I'm not a concert person. Tickets for NYC are being obtained. And has there ever been a bigger chameleon with image and looks and style? No denying, you can't say she doesn't shake things up, for whatever the reason. And still performing. I can't think of any performer from my middle school years still around, except for maybe Mariah, who only awakes at Christmas, or Janet, who is more dormant than anything. We may be hard pressed to find an artist to have a career this long these days anymore except Cher...I don't know even Lady Gaga or Beyonce will be able to say they will still be performing after forty years. All hail!

Like or can't stand her she is still here.

But I'm sure she has a message for her hateful critics.

  1. When I heard the news, I called my friend Dee Dee and said "DEE DEE! Madge is going out on tour, again. Do you feel lucky?"
And poor Dee Dee said "And oh, is she going to show up for all the dates this time?"
See Dee Dee got stung the last time Madge said she touring and then got screwed when she cancelled her big show at Mad Square Gardens or some such.
So we are cautiously, cautiously optimistic.

    1. I can definitely see your trepidation. The first tour I saw was Blonde Ambition which was fine. The second tour I saw was her Madame X tour which came to Philly. In some ways that was my favorite concert because it was much more intimate and not such a big crowd. Since this tour won't be coming to Philly I have to go see it at Madison Square Gardens which of course has me a bit worried. I sure hope she doesn't do this again with the delayed starting times, otherwise she's really going to hurt herself.

  2. Good Luck. The nosebleed seats are going for $950 and those are resales, so if she does cancel reimbursement would be very difficult.

    1. I'm not actually too worried. My friend who is in PR, his firm does a lot with accounts for Madison Square Garden are able to get so many tickets for a special price. So we lucked out and got tickets for $225 in the H section which is Center Auditorium straight from the stage. Now the kicker will be if she starts on time. We should have a very clear view of the stage.

  3. Our Glorious Leader! Love her. I'm going to try and see what the ticket situation is for her one and only London gig when Ticketmaster opens the floodgates at 10am tomorrow, but I am not hopeful. Jx

    4. She added three new dates in fact, and when I went to check the cheapest available seats were £225. I love her loads, but that's a bit too much... Jx

  4. I LIKE Madge but don't love her. Still she has been around for nearly 200 years so this should be a good show.

  5. I love Madonna! Huge fan!!!!! I plan to see this too if I can get the tickets. And who are you kidding. These performers now don't have the creativity and stamina anymore to last that long, like Madonna, and that includes Gaga and Beyonce.

    1. I can see Gaga being around loner then Beyonce. At least she can perform and sing different genres of music. But 40 years?

  6. Madonna and I are the same age. I am not going on tour, I regret to say, but I can certainly dance around the house in my undies and warble Like A Virgin, although I am nothing like at all. Then I'll strike a pose for Vogue.

    Love,
    Janie

  9. No one puts on a better spectacle than Madonna whether high energy or low key, each one better than that last. The only issue is tickets also get a hella more pricey. $$$$$$. Love the gifs!!!!

  13. She tried so many things in her life, sometimes she was good sometimes she was bad. But no one can deny that when she’s on stage doing a show there’s no one like her.

  14. What some freak of music she is! She's been commanding the music business for 40 years and she still rocks. I hope she sings "This Used To Be My Playground" live on tour for the very first time. One of my favorites of hers.

  17. When Madonna puts a tour together and performs on stage globally, this is my favorite Madonna, as long as she doesn't cancel or start an hour late. Course I still think Blonde Ambition will be a hard tour to beat. She killed that!!!!!

  18. Nope, I'll stick to my music collection and remember her the way she was. Besides, she will cancel it at the third week and victimize herself... next...

  19. She's probably been the most 'significant' figure, either M or F., in the 'pop' music aspect of my life, likely 'cos her very initial appearances, her rise and fame, coincided with my adventurous bar-cruising and disco-dancing years. I've only got two of her albums, the compulsory 'Immaculate Conception', and 'Frozen', but whenever I happen by chance to encounter ANY of her tracks, it takes me right back especially to the 80s and I just HAVE to listen.

    1. 'Immaculate COLLECTION' of course. I must have had the (Like a) Virgin Mary on my mind. That strict Roman Catholic education still haunts me 60+ years later!

    2. If you're only going to have two albums of hers ,Raybeard, those are two very good ones to have. Ray Of Light was an excellent album. And I agree, she and her music are memory inducing. I can still recall where and what was going on in my life with each album period. And like her, I had many changes or images with each album.

I sure hope you've been doing well my friend. Are your puss's keeping you warm and loved?

    3. I'm doing fine, thanks, M.M., as I'm hoping you are too. And 'ta' for reminding me of the title of the 'Frozen' album, which I couldn't be bothered to look up.
The pussy-cats are certainly keeping me warm, though, alas not each other, keeping their wary distances, which (I tell myself) is just part of their 'attraction' - but I do wish they'd be more inter-friendly! :-)

  26. I don't appreciate all the weird bids for attention and facial surgery... but I am mad for this lady and support whatever the hell she sets her mind to. She's become an artist's artist, evolving constantly and sometime overreaching a bit, but... good for her. I'd rather support someone taking huge risks and defying expectations than see a museum piece in Vegas. I saw her tour - the one after leaving Guy Ritchie - and it was mind blowing. I'll look into tickets for this. Hopefully there are some affordable nosebleed seats available. Just to be in the same building with the lady... woot woot. Kizzes.

  27. I like her, but I don't love her enough to consider spending $$$$ on tickets. Yeah, I understand seeing a concert is an experience. So is having the power to pick and choose when I return to work... if I ever do.

Can't deny Madonna is one heck of a performer, and looks great. I like her new song (I thought it was new, but I just looked it up, it came out in 2005?) "Ray of Light", man where have I been???? Oh and always liked "Material Girl" especially the video. Envious I guess..LOL!!

Oh and at the gym, I play her song "Over and Over" over and over again, man that keeps me going.

  29. There is a lot of her Music I like and she is always re-inventing herself constantly and pushing boundaries, moving them sometimes, and fearlessly. Gotta respect that even if her Choices have not always aligned with being of Sound Mind, we're all a little Crazy sometimes. Can't say I haven't made some piss poor Choices of my own on this Life's Journey, mine just weren't so Public and Scrutinized by Millions. *Whew* It seems Performers who have lasted and outlasted many have been the Rebels in the Industry, High Five to that.
