MOOD BOARD

This was a relaxing weekend for the most part. After all the holiday hoopla, it was time to get the decorations down and do a good deep clean at the Casa du Borghese. It seems right to clean the house deeply...mentally feels as though you're starting the new year out right, and the house feels so wonderful, although I did place some new fresh pines in some vases. Then yesterday I was telling the mother and my uncle, who we took dinner too, I needed to talk to the Snow Queen, as I felt it was in order to get some snow. I'm in the mood now for a nice big snowstorm. I love after it snows, before it's spoiled. The world just seems clean, crisp, and calm blanketed in white. I also have always wanted to be in a mountain house just once for a winter. I think that is something I'd like to experience just once, hence some of these homes in the scenic beauty. Any of them will do just fine. It's now time for calm and hibernation.

And turns out, the Snow Queen answered my request last night...she gave us a light wet coating to make things all white and pretty like. A view from the back of the Casa looking toward the moon this morn about 6:30AM.

    Pat Lark says,
That A-Frame looks like the perfect setting for a winter retreat. That would be my choice - especially if that iced footbridge is nearby. Beautiful pictures, Mads!

  2. So far this winter, we have just enough snow to make it magical. However, seeing as I'm in Newfoundland Canada, we will receive more snow than we want. Shall I send you some next time? Hehehe!

    1. Welcome Doris the Great!!!!! Thanks for stopping by! Yet another reader to add to the Canadian crowd. If we don't get any significant snowfall in 3 weeks I may take you up on that.

  3. The treehouse or the ice castle are for me. Just someplace to ”parka” myself. He already gave me directions.

    2. No surprise. He just told me where to park-a myself.

  4. Beautiful imagery, Mads. My mood? Soggy, cold and windblown. Grateful to have a gas stove, though. I'll have to find a canoe to get to my eye injection appointment this afternoon.

    1. I started to read that as if you were going to say thank God you had gas! I wondered how you were faring out there with all that rain. My friend outside of San Fran got inundated with water, and even had a Mudslide that wiped out her deck.

  5. I think the mountains on the other side of the county will get snow. I'll just get more rain and weeds in the yard.

  6. That pink palace makes me think of a Russian billionaire's dacha. If it were an ordinary Russian house the windows would be broken, there's be piles of rubbish all over the place and there would be no pink paint, just broken wood. Ground down Russians couldn't afford that beauty and those who are ground down and just trying to survive don't have the energy to rise up against the Evil Putrid and his orcs.

    1. That pink house is one of my favorites although more on the style not the color. Even though I do love pink.

  7. Winter Wonderland fantasies are fun! Real snow gets tiresome pretty quick.

  8. Very nice, except for that pink house. Not my shade.

    1. The house itself is stunning. A pink house in Bucks County, and no one would flinch, but here would be another story.

Tundra Bunny here... Winter wonderland fantasies dissipate quickly in reality: it took me 45 minutes to brush off 6 inches of snow and scrape 2 inches of solid ice off my vehicle last week! There IS something magical though about being in a forest cabin that's blanketed with fresh snow that sparkles like diamonds, thick hoar frost on the trees and night skies so crystal clear that the stars seem to shine even brighter. Then your dog pukes, the walls close in and you'd sell your soul to get back to civilization, LOL!

    1. Yes I would change my tune if I was around it all the time. Now when I was young we used to get terrible snowfalls every year, one right after the other. But anymore the last 15 years it's just gotten so mild in the winter. We've had three or four years where we've gotten a lot of snow but overall if we get more than two snowfalls, we're lucky. I've already heard this is supposed to be a very mild winter for us.

P.S. Your snowy snap is beautiful, Mistress Maddie!

  13. I love mountains and miss them very much. I'd also like to spend a winter in the peace of a mountain home. I miss snow and the calm after a snowstorm.

    Love,

    1. I agree Janie. That's my favorite part of snow, watching it come down and cover everything. And after it's finished for the first couple of hours you could almost hear a pin drop it so quiet.

  15. We did the cleanup after the holidays and yardwork and stuff, too. It was actually nice to get things put back in order. Now all I need is a snowy cabin in the woods, or a tree top, and a houseboy or two to work the, um, kinks out.

Perhaps we should all club together and rent a castle - with staff?
